I missed Jimmy's 500th wicket as was trying to open a bottle of wine with my shoe. Alas the trick doesn't work with high heels.

The Lord's pavilion isn't exactly overflowing. There are more empty spaces on those white benches than egg-and-bacon ties. Either the old boys didn't fancy it much today, or they have gone to toast Jimmy's 500. Broad, long of leg, is running towards the pavilion, perhaps just starting to look like a Broad who could get on a hot streak. Nothing yet, though.

Anderson now round the wicket to left-hander Powell as the clouds just start to roll in. The Lancashire man, as he has done for most of his career, has the ball on a piece of string, darting it this way and that. Both edges of the bat being challenged, more swing than a 1970s disco. If you missed the moment of the his 500th Test wicket, take this chance to see it...

It's strength of mind for the batsmen when the conditions favour the bowlers. You've got to accept it is going to take longer to score runs.

Broad pads in under bright sunshine, whizzing a leg-cutter past the outside edge of Kyle Hope. You need a bat as wide as a door to play that. I'm told that Broad has had seven catches dropped off his bowling in this series alone. He might be better off looking for bowled and lbw.

    Anderson 3-1-2-1

Loving this chat. Things you were doing when Jimmy Anderson got his 500th Test wicket. Bonus points if it made you miss the moment. Extra bonus points if it's weird (and we believe you). Now the milestone has been reached, there's a Test to win. Anderson goes past the outside edge of Kieran Powell with a rozzer of an outswinger. 501 might not be far away.

To add to what Andrew Samson has said, Anderson is the sixth man to join the 500 Club. Spinners Muttiah Muralitharan has 800, Shane Warne 708 and Anil Kumble 619. Then come McGrath (563), Walsh (519) and Anderson (500). In theory, Anderson could become the most successful Test pace bowler all all-time. In the meantime, it looks like they might be changing the ball. Possibly to get the old one mounted for Jimmy...

Courtney Walsh was the first bowler to 500 wickets back in 2001, he took 129 Tests, the same as Jimmy Anderson. Glenn McGrath is the only other seamer to reach 500 and he also did it at Lord's.

All happening. Ben Stokes, a man who normally catches flies, has put one down at fourth slip. Kieran Powell is the man to benefit, fending at one outside off stump from Stuart Broad. It was on to Stokes quickly at a nice height, but through his hands and giving him a nasty blow on the chest.

If you look at the some of the greats, Malcolm Marshall had an average of 20, Anderson has 27. The pitches have got better and it's a bit harder to get wickets but I think he can get quite a lot more. The only thing I don't know is if he can stay fit. If he can, he will get a lot more wickets.

Anderson wheeled away with his right arm raised, then was mobbed by his team-mates. Everyone inside Lord's was on their feet, giving the Burnley Express a standing ovation, singing the song that has become the soundtrack to his career. He took the ball and waved it to the crowd. Lord's isn't a bad ground to reach 500, either.

He pitched it up. He has been short of a length and allowed the batsmen to play straight. As soon as he pitches it up he gets the wicket.

500 Test wickets for James Anderson!

The England paceman joins one of cricket's most elite clubs by demolishing the stumps of Kraigg Brathwaite. On the ground where he took his first Test wicket, Anderson hoops an inswinger through the gate between bat and pad, taking middle and off stumps. Whatever you are doing, stop and salute one of the finest cricketers ever to play for England.

Roach bowled exceptionally well, then he got sucked in to bouncing Broad and they couldn't get him out. Momentum was with England and West Indies hurt themselves by trying to hurt Broad. The one good thing is it is not dark.

Stuart Broad, after some biffery with the bat, shares the new ball. Remember, he had trouble with his heel in the first innings yesterday. Kieran Powell, the left-hander, is away with a single in the sunshine. Broad's pace is barely over 80mph and a leg-stump half-volley is a pint of bitter for Brathwaite.

Four slips in place under what is perhaps the brightest sunshine of the Test. The floodlights are still on, mind, The batsmen might actually prefer it if they weren't. There's swing for Anderson, but from an unthreatening line wide of the off stump. We wait...
