Somehow that's a maiden. Broad backing away and heaving away agriculturally at Roach but missing the majority of them.

Wayne Andrews: Is it ridiculous to suggest that, in the context of this match so far, England's lead might now be a winning one?

Despite his great height, Holder is barely at 80mph and Broad swipes a loose one off his hips for his third boundary. Roland-Jones edges short between second and third slip. The luck not going with the Windies.

You simply can't drop catches like that in a situation like this. It's a howler. It's hit him on the wrist. It's a really bad miss.

    Roland-Jones on 11

Roland-Jones has a reprieve. It was routine for wicketkeeper Dowrich, maybe a little high at shoulder height, but it slips through the gloves like an errant bar of soap.

Ant Myers: Can we just take no balls away from on-field umpires? Just have an umpire watching on TV and a buzzer to let them know each time.

Gabriel is doing nothing for the over-rate, two more no-balls in this one from the big man. Broad doesn't mind them when they are pitched up and he backs away to drive two thumping strokes to the boundary. Important runs for England.

A flurry of wickets this afternoon then, Bairstow lbw for 21, upheld after review, Stokes bowled by Gabriel shortly after being bowled off a no-ball and Moeen driving to gully.

    Roland-Jones 6, Broad 3

Not quite yet for the full day's pay, we've now had 25 overs, but there is no immediate sign of rain yet. There are 48 more overs schdeuled to be bowled today, which would be one heck of a late finish. A rare breed, a maiden from Roach to Broad.

Captain Root looks pensive from his porthole in the pavilion and so does Gemma Broad watching her brother facing the short-pitched stuff from the West Indians. One of the biggest cheers of the day is for a burst of sunshine that briefly illuminates the outfield, but it is soon covered by cloud. Broad off the mark with a push through mid-on.

    Roach 18.3-4-47-5

He'd been out of Test cricket for ages before this series, but Kemar Roach has been West Indies' best bowler, terrorising the left-handers in particular. He's got himself a spot on the honours' board. Stuart Broad is the new man.

Five for Kemar Roach! Another one goes and England's lead does not look likely to be substantial. To be honest, we've talked about it being tough for batting, but this is pretty loose from Moeen Ali. An airy drive, thick edge, well snaffled by Kyle Hope at gully.

Former England batsman Mark Butcher is in attendance. No need for a corkscrew for him, it looks like there is an opened beer bottle in his immediate vicinity. He would approve of that pull shot from Toby Roland-Jones - dispatching Gabriel to the boundary - and a fielder is then placed on the boundary for England's number nine.

Captain Root is peering out from a side window in the pavilion like an excited schoolboy. There won't be any declarations today, that much we can say. Three slips and a gully for Roach to Moeen, who is beaten by a beauty from Roach that swings sharply away from the left-hander. So still plenty for the bowlers, even though there is now a hint of sunshine.

You just felt that there was a bit of tiredness. He got an inside-edge to one, then he got bowled off a no-ball, then he missed another. That one hasn't done a lot and he's missed it on the inside, it's gone between bat and pad.

    Stokes b Gabriel 60 (Eng 128-7)

This one IS out. It was through the gate again and Stokes slumps off. A groan from the crowd, who wanted more, but a fine 74-ball knock containing 10 fours which has helped England to a lead of five. How many more can they add?
