That's a no-ball. You can't give that as a fair delivery, even in your wildest dreams. Moeen has to talk to him, tell him to knuckle down and get a hundred.

  2. Stokes bowled off no-ball on 60published at 15:31 British Summer Time 8 September 2017

Stokes bowled through the gate but fear not England fans, it's a no ball by the burly Gabriel. More agony for the Windies, who dropped him on 24.

Stokes' innings has been exceptional - it is worth a hundred on a flat pitch. What I like about him is he has a big stride. Yes, he's got power, but he gets his feet out to the ball, he gets back - he moves his feet.

Here's a non-wine related public service announcement and there are a limited number of tickets available for 20 quid from 15:40 BST at Lord's. There could be a few hours to see as well because tea is not until 16:45. Another expansive drive from Stokes at Gabriel but there are fielders spread far and wide now and he is restricted to two.

The dangerous ball to Jonny Bairstow is the one running down the hill. He's got a high backlift and doesn't move his feet very much. It was a hasty review - more in hope than anything else.

Bairstow lbw Roach 21 (Eng 119-6)

It was three reds in the review and Bairstow has to depart. He had just hit a delightful drive to the boundary that a cheery bearded fellow doffed his MCC cap to but the partnership of 56 comes to an end, England still four runs behind.

Bairstow has been pinned lbw by Roach and given out but has immediately called for a review.

George Causer: Ben Stokes clearly thrives on responsibility and has an excellent technique,we should consider batting him at three in Ashes.

Some blue sky in the distance, not enough to make a sailor's trousers etc and it looks as though it is being usurped by some darker, more threatening stuff. The fifty partnership between England's two belligerent batsmen and very timely for an innings that was 24-4 at one point.

Everyone has been so nice during this Test that it's in danger of getting in the way of the cricket. I've had some wonderful socks given to me.

Jonny is looking a little edgy out there at the moment, he nibbles at one from Roach, whose large gold chain gleams under the floodlights, and is fortunate not to get a touch.

This is the first time Stokes has made a fifty and a taken a five-for in the same Test.

His fifty was 10 fours, 10 singles and 31 dots.

Beautiful ground at Findon, Simon. I'm sure you'll enjoy it there. They've got a wireless scorebox as well. Back at HQ Stokes is in the zone now and he reaches a half-century from 51 balls, his 12th in Tests to add to that stunning six-for with the ball. I think the magnum of champers will be heading his way.

The boundaries are rolling along nicely now, Stokes records the 16th of the innings with a square drive that brings up the England 100 and gully can only watch race to the rope.
