Superb counter-attacking from England, first Stokes bludgeons one to the long-on boundary and then Bairstow pulls over the crop circled autumnal fungus on the square for four more. A rueful shake of the head from bowler Holder.

Andrew Murfin: I dreamt last night that scores were tied after 1st innings. Looking at conditions I will take that and toss the ball to Stokes.
Stokes 35, Bairstow 11
A change to the Pavilion End for Roach. The West Indies took out third slip earlier where Stokes edged but there are four in place and they are nearly in business as Bairstow has a couple of lunges, but makes no contact with either.

If one of these two batsmen go on to get 70, 80 or 100, it will give England a real big lead on this wicket. West Indies need a couple of quick ones.

A reminder that tea will now be taken at 16:45 BST with close of play at 19:00 and there could be an extra half an hour to get the allotted overs in. West Indies skipper Jason Holder takes up the attack from the Nursery End and is neatly worked into the leg side for two more by Bairstow. England slowly but surely reducing the slender West Indies lead.

Gabriel drifts on to the pads and is nicely clipped to the mid-wicket boundary by the ever purposeful Bairstow. Still a fair amount of dark cloud in evidence but it looks a little brighter behind the famous old pavilion. Did someone really hit a ball over that in the 19th Century? With those old bats?!

Mark: Selectors always seem immune from the sack despite clearly not up to job. Time for fresh ideas as Bayliss doesn't watch county cricket.
David Wood: Why is it that county matches are now starting at 10.30 in September but Tests are still starting at 11.00?
Damian Lewis is in the crowd. He looks like he's auditioning for the part of Bertie Wooster in that get-up. Classic brown tweed and a jaunty flat cap. Stephen Fry, Jeeves to Hugh Laurie's Wooster in the classic TV series, is a regular at Lord's but I haven't spotted him yet. Saturday's are usually a good day for the celebs. I'm sure Hugh Grant will be in. Stokes into the 30s with his seventh four, through the covers off Roach.

The electricity bill is going to be a bit steep this month at HQ. The floodlights were on most of yesterday and they are illuminating out across the playing area. Bairstow clips Gabriel for two off his pads - these two are full of intent. If the rain relents, this should be good.
How important is this going to be? Second ball after the resumption and Stokes is dropped on 24.

Just to add to the wine gate discussion. I once lived in Ipswich and was walking to work one day when a budding graffiti artist had spray painted on every available surface in town the helpful advice that you can recharge batteries by putting in your microwave.

Stokes 28, Bairstow 1
After that happy ending to the wine bottle saga, Kemar Roach continues. There are four slips - what's the most you've ever seen? I put in all nine once when my dad came in for a father/son match. Bairstow is squared up by a good one but there is no edge.

All that talk of cricketing exams earlier, what percentage of deliveries after a dropped catch are hit for four? Stokes ups that ante with a sweetly struck straight drive.

You have to look at the captain. England are 65-5 and Ben Stokes is the key wicket, but Holder is on the defensive. Now third slip comes in. You have to attack.
A chance. Stokes on 24 fenced at Shanon Gabriel, second slip Kyle Hope threw himself at it and got hands to the ball but down it went. It would have been a comfortable catch for third slip too.
Thanks Stephan, I feel a bit like the Yoko Ono in this scenario but rest assured I will update you with the latest wine-gate developments. After only 4.2 overs and 21 minutes of play this morning we are back in play, with England 65-5.
The Windies have had their huddle and the England batsmen are on their way. We're about to have some cricket. To talk you through it, here's Jamie Lillywhite. I'm off to bash a wine bottle against a wall.
Believe it or not, we might be about to get some cricket. The West Indies players are lurking on the edge of the boundary and the covers have been rolled away. We'll keep you right updated with the cricket as we continue to follow the saga of Matt's wine.
