Rob Davidson: With so much talk about England's bad catching Bairstow's good keeping has been more a relief than a talking point.

I wonder how often over the next five years or more that Shai Hope will carry the weight of West Indies batting on his shoulders. At the moment, he seems to be the only thing stopping England winning this match before tea. Have a look at what happened to Jermaine Blackwood during his time in the middle. He only made 5. A good time, not a long time...

The West Indies have been met by a senior pair, Broad and Anderson, who are going to make it very difficult with a perfect line. There is still plenty of movement out there.

    Anderson 14-5-22-4

It was almost as if someone had nailed Blackwood's feet to the floor. It was quite wide, almost another set of stumps away, just back of a length. Blackwood couldn't help but follow it, playing miles away from his body. It's a nothing shot. Shane Dowrich, a walking wicket in this series, is the new man. James Anderson has four of the five wickets to fall.

With Hope still there the West Indies have a chance but Broad's celebration told a story, having dropped a straightforward chance. Blackwood likes to be attacking but you can't come out trying to launch quality bowlers over mid-off every time.

This time! Jermaine Blackwood has been dropped, has successfully overturned an lbw decision, but he can't evade the brilliance of James Anderson. Movement down the slope, no feet from Blackwood, a big edge through to the mitts of Jonny Bairstow. Anderson has four and West Indies are in danger of falling in a heap. They are effectively 29-5.

As soon as the batsman reviews it straight away it's always an indication. And Broad wasn't quite as sprightly with his appeal.

Well, there were definitely two noises at the time. The umpire might have thought that was both pads being hit, but it turns out there was some bat. When the reversal comes, Broad has a word with Ersamus. Surely the bowler can't complain? The technology showed that bat hit ball.

He reviewed it straight away but you think an inside edge.

Up goes the finger! Jermaine Blackwood given lbw to Marais Erasmus. Curiously, Erasmus looked around before giving the deadly digit. The review came quickly. Inside edge?

Olly: Catches win matches and matches win series England's fielding has just not been good enough this series.

Right then. James Anderson is providing an examination of the Windies batting and I have an exam for you (see what I did there?). Remember the Test match cricket GCSE we spoke about yesterday? Here it is. Well, the front cover at least. There's more to come. It looks very official, doesn't it?

Broad, the guilty catch-dropper, probes the off stump of Shai Hope. Hope sometimes threatens to play, other times it's a genuine leave. Another maiden. The Windies have only scored six runs this morning. I'm told that 24 catches have been dropped by both sides in this series. Here's Broad's again. You'd fancy it would have been taken in a lot of club games this afternoon. Not my club, mind. Their game has already been called off.

Blackwood had a bit of a yahoo at it, got it off the toe at it and didn't really time it. Broady got to it - that was not a difficult catch. He would take that nine and a half times out of 10.

Dropped! Should have been taken. Stuart Broad at mid-off gives a life to Jermaine Blackwood. It's an ugly drive, leaning back, uppish, more T20 than Test match. Broad has to move to his right, a couple of paces, and dive to a ball that is about waist-high. A bit like a goalkeeper saving a penalty. He gets both hands to it, but can't cling on. He beats the turf. A big moment?

Anderson and umpire Marais Erasmus, who had a bit of a ruck last night, are once again on speaking terms. Anderson asks about the state of the ball, Erasmus puts it through that set of handcuffs all umpires carry and then we get on with the game. Broad asks the question when Shai Hope is hit on the pads, but it's high and leggy. England used both their reviews last night.

  20. WI 94-4published at 11:14 British Summer Time 9 September 2017

Close! Jermaine Blackwood doesn't know if it's time for breakfast or a haircut when he gives a leading edge off Anderson, just evading Broad at mid-off. Despite the sunshine, England are still making batting hard - Anderson goes past Blackwood's outside edge. Jude Law is in the crowd, explaining batting to a blonde lady by playing a few shadow shots. He's about 64 not out.
