That means we'll get an early look at Chris Gayle and Evin Lewis. Seatbelts.
Jason Holder calls heads and sees the coin come down his way. Even though the outfield is wet, the track looks a belter, so the Windies want a bat. Eoin Morgan says he would have batted to.

I have felt for Bairstow for a long time. How we haven't been able to squeeze him into this England team I don't know. He's an incredible player. He offers consistency and always seems to deliver. He deserves a run and a real opportunity.
Michael Vaughan
Ex-England captain on BBC 5 live sports extra
They have to give Bairstow the whole series, to prove his worth. This is his real chance to stamp his class on the game.
No sign of the toss yet - Eoin Morgan has been having a hit. We already know that Jonny Bairstow plays for England and will open the batting.
No play has been possible today between Derbyshire and Kent at Chesterfield because of a wet outfield, but wickets have been tumbling at Northampton in the battle between third-placed Northamptonshire and second-placed Nottinghamshire - Northants are 104-6 with three wickets apiece for Brett Hutton and Luke Wood.
Sussex have lost the fewest wickets in the country today, they;re 138-1 at Chester-le-Street against Durham after a century stand between Luke Wells and Stiaan van Zyl. And finally, Glamorgan are 151-5 against Gloucestershire at Cardiff.

The ground is still soft. It still moves under the weight of the foot, particularly around the backward point areas.
Confirmed. The players are out and loosening up. The break will be 30 minutes. Could be a late one...
I'm hearing rumours of a 14:30 start...
That second inspection should be taking place any second now. The umpires are just putting plastic bags over their shoes.
There's plenty of intrigue in the County Championship today - with Essex having sewn the title up, focus in Division One switches to who's going to fill the second relegation place alongside Warwickshire. Only one point separates Middlesex, Somerset and Yorkshire between seventh and fifth place - but fourth-placed Hampshire and third-placed Surrey are not out of the woods yet.
Middlesex have tumbled to 100-7 against Lancashire at Lord's, with all seven wickets falling to opening bowlers Tom Bailey and Ryan McLaren. Somerset are faring slightly better against Surrey at The Oval, reaching 122-4 thanks to 65 from the evergreen Marcus Trescothick.
Good news for Yorkshire is that Warwickshire's struggles are continuing at Headingley, the Bears having slumped to 49-6 before Ian Bell and Jeetan Patel steadied the ship, taking them to 112-6. And the top scorers in Division One today are Hampshire, who have made 150-5 against champions Essex at Southampton, with James Vince hitting 60.

Former England wicketkeeper Paul Nixon on TMS: "Chris Gayle is so driven in team meetings, he expects good things from every player around for him. Away from that, he's a very relaxed bloke. He loves to party and loves the gym."

I am Tom in London's brother (13:43) and he once broke his wrist play fighting with his boss so if anyone knows about "soft" injuries it is him.
Matt, also in London
Another point. Why is this game starting at 12:30? That's a bit early for a day-nighter in this country. Presumably they decided that shivering into a September evening wouldn't be great for the spectators.

I taught a football lesson to 30 Year 8 girls first lesson this morning; the grass was very wet; none of them had spikes or studs; nobody got injured.

How big is your washing line, Will?

I've managed to get 2 loads of washing dry during this inspection delay and I'm only 20 minutes away

I'm willing to stick my neck out and say that we will get some cricket today. It might not be for a while, but I reckon it will happen. I mean, there's no sign of more rain arriving and the minimum amount is 20 overs a side. That might not need to start until about 17:00.

To all the people comparing cricket to football, rugby etc ... you only have to look at what happened to Simon Jones' career to understand the damage that a soft outfield can cause a player when they are throwing themselves around in the field.
