Summary

  • England win series 4-0

  • England win with 12 overs to spare

  • Bairstow 141*, Roy 96, Root 46*

  • W Indies 288-6: S Hope 72, Gayle 40

  • Ball 1-94: England's third worst in ODIs

  1. WI 135-2published at 30 overs

    S Hope 31, Samuels 27

A rare misfield from England - a scrambling Jason Roy the culprit at point, and he's so disappointed he looks like he's broken his favourite toy. Ball is bowling almost exclusively short stuff, so much so that a slower ball bounce is called wide by the square-leg umpire.

A couple of my favourite ones have already been mentioned. However, Tino Best, stumped Jones, bowled Giles. 'Mind the Windows Tino' Priceless.

    Moeen 6-0-18-0

Thanks Kal. Moeen continues, into his sixth over. He'll probably bowl his 10 on the bounce today, unless Hope or Samuels has a sudden change of heart. Another excellent over - just two singles off it.

Hope and Samuels have to be careful to not give their wickets up with a rush of blood, having used up so many balls.

  5. WI 126-2published at 28 overs

    Hope 26, Samuels 24

Jake Ball took an absolute hammering from Chris Gayle earlier, going for 48 runs in his first five overs, with one of them being a maiden.

But it's a good comeback from the Nottinghamshire seamer who bowls a good line, on the top of off stump. He the then bangs one in short and Samuels takes a wild swing at the air.

Right then, that's me done for now. Here's Justin Goulding to see you through the rest of this innings.

Christian Evans: Flintoff v SA in 2008, bowling to Kallis, makes him play and miss first 5 balls then bowls him with the 6th. Pure world-class.

  7. WI 124-2published at 27 overs

Still no boundary for West Indies, but they do capitalise on a loose delivery from Moeen who bowls down the leg side, an inside-edge sending the ball down to the fine-leg boundary where Tom Curran does well to mop up.

A much better over for the tourists, seven well worked runs.

Simon Jones demolishing Michael Clarke's stumps with a ball that reversed about 4ft in the 2005 Ashes. Clarke was shouldering arms and the sound of the stumps is still my text message alert.

    Hope 24 (47), Samuels 17 (42)

Adil Rashid and Moeen Ali bowling in tandem is doing wonders for England, as Rashid races through yet another over. It's hard to keep up with the speed in which they get through these! Unconvincing batting with leading edges and mistimed drives add four more to the score.

England did not concede a boundary between overs 11 and 25 for the first time since doing so against Pakistan on this ground in 2010.

  11. WI 113-2published at 25 overs

Moeen goes a tad too short as Samuels and Hope exchange singles through a pull down to deep mid-wicket and and a dab behind square. But that's the lot for West Indies, as Moeen tightens things up, offering very little or no width.

Harmison to Michael Clarke, 2005 Ashes at Edgbaston, just the greatest slower ball ever...

    Rashid 7-1-24-0

A shout for lbw as Marlon Samuels gets forward and is hit on the front pad by an Adil Rashid googly. England decide not to review and rightly so, looked to be way too high.

Samuels rocks back and cuts a short ball to point for two, with three more singles to end the over.

  15. WI 106-2published at 23 overs

    S Hope 21, Samuels 9

Marlon Samuels opts to advance down the wicket but can't get Moeen Ali away. Moeen doing so well to nullify any attack here and you can see more and more frustration creep into the West Indies' body language. Just two more added to the total.

Certainly not the best Test wicket, but Swann's full toss lbw to Rogers at Lord's was hilarious.

There we go, Marlon Samuels makes some space and swings those big arms of his, striking the ball along the ground down to the extra-cover boundary, a certain four had it not been for a brilliant piece of fielding by Jason Roy. A bit more aggression shown in that over. The 100 is up for the tourists.

Roger Harper running out Graham Gooch. Goochy came down the track and straight drove along the ground, immediate pick-up and throw, direct hit with Graham stranded on his knees.

  19. WI 99-2published at 21 overs

The dot balls continue. Just one run taken in the last two overs as Moeen Ali bowls another fine over. The England spinner bowls a tight line, on or around the off stump, occasionally dragging the batsmen forward to play outside off.
