That was a loose shot. He decided beforehand he was going to drive that ball and he nicked it behind. Good pace from Trent Boult though.

Warner c Ronchi b Boult 18 (Aus 27-1)
Gone! That's a little daft from Warner, to my mind. He came charging down the pitch, looking to deposit Boult somewhere in the city centre. Instead he's ending up sending a thick outside edge straight through to wicket-keeper Luke Ronchi. Boult wheels away in celebration.
Target 235
Hello! Short, wide, bit of nothingness from Southee, and Warner uppercuts him handsomely for six. That's a great shot - Warner was off his feet as he guided the ball over the ropes. Just before that, it looked as though Aaron Finch had done himself a mischief. He had another huge swing at Southee, missed again and clutched his lower back almost straight away. Warner nips up the pitch for a quick chat and he seems okay as he jogs a leisurely single.

Raining hard in Halesowen (about 8 miles South West of Brum). Further disruption on the way I reckon.
Steve in Halesowen.
Warner 11, Finch 7
Finch really, really wants to smash something into the stands. He gives himself room to swing his arms to Boult this time, but he can't quite connect. Williamson keeps shuffling his fielders around and a cracking dive by Aaron Finch at short fine leg cuts stops an inside edge running to the boundary.

Looking at the New Zealand fielders, they look a little flat. Guptill looks forlorn at extra cover. It's as though they know they haven't got enough runs.
Ooft. Southee bangs in a short ball and Finch chucks the kitchen sink at it, but he only connects with fresh air. I remember him launching some poor Lancashire bowler over The Point - the big red box - in a Roses Twenty20 match a few years back when he was playing for Yorkshire. He's unbelievably strong.

Zafar Ansari on BBC Radio 5 live: “In my own my mind at least, I wasn’t giving up. I haven’t been a super successful cricketer. It didn’t feel like I was giving up something that if I was Joe Root or if I was Moeen Ali, I would have been giving up.
"That is worth bearing in mind, that the so-called bravery of the decision or whatever people thought, probably wasn’t as great as it might have come across.
“I didn’t perceive myself in that way and therefore it wasn’t necessarily feel like a dramatic step.
Warner 9, Finch 2
Here's Trent Boult with the other new ball. And that's four, the ball sliding down leg, and David Warner gets a little tickle on it to help it down to the rope. Boult then mixes up his pace and a slower bouncer surprises Warner slightly. Up in the dressing room, Steve Smith taps on his pads as a shy at the stumps just misses.

In old school terms, this sounds like a mammoth target but Australia can chase anything. As much as it pains me to say it.
Target 235
It's still pretty grey over Edgbaston. Ooh! David Warner whips Southee off his toes and the ball flies just past a diving Martin Guptill at short mid-wicket. Southee's bowling for some swing but there's nothing doing, and Aaron Finch gets off the mark with a clip off his hips.
Here we go, Tim Southee will open up for New Zealand with David Warner facing. Just the one slip in place as Australia chase 235 from 33 overs.

It's a white ball and they don't tend to swing very much. I think Josh Hazlewood has really put Australia in the ascendancy.
New Zealand are gathered just beyond the boundary rope while Australia's openers Aaron Finch and David Warner make a final check of their pads. We're gonna have some cricket!

Former Surrey batsman Zafar Ansari speaking to BBC Radio 5 live's Friday Sports Panel on his decision to retire aged 25: “People talk in hyperbolic language a lot of the time about sport. Cricket is a hard sport in terms of the amount that you fail and in terms of the amount you travel.
"It makes it sound time-consuming but it really does take up your life in a way that a lot of sports do and I think that, again, when you’re really interested in other things and when there are people around you that do other things that you see and excite you, that really was the impetus to me.”
There's your confirmed revised target: Australia will be chasing 235 from 33 overs, with a cut-off at 19:34 BST.
Three bowlers can bowl seven overs and two can bowl six.
Pakistan coach Mickey Arthur has been in attendance at Egbaston today, presumably scouting out the pitch before his side take on India on Sunday.

New Zealand batsman Luke Ronchi speaking to Sky Sports: "It was nice to chance my arm as opener and I got lucky a couple of times.
"I'm more of an aggressive type player and I went out there with that mindset.
"It's still a lot of runs to try and get and we feel we can defend that if we bowl well and take our chances."
