Williamson run out Henriques 100 (NZ 254-4)

And it's out! Oh dear. Looking at the replay, Broom darted so far up the pitch from the non-strikers that Williamson had no choice but to run. That's a superb bit of fielding from Henriques though; he saw Williamson was struggling and whizzed the ball in to Cummins, who threw the ball from the floor to knock the bails off.

    NZ 254-3

Ooh, has Williamson been run out?! He and Broom commit to a quick single and that looks tight...

Williamson had a chance to settle in because of Ronchi's innings (65 off 43). He played in the slipstream, knocked it about, gave Ronchi the strike early on and now we're seeing the value of him spending time at the crease.

  4. 100 runs

100 for Williamsonpublished at 38.5 overs

    NZ 254-3

And there it is! Kane Williamson's second century as New Zealand one-day captain, and his first against Australia!

That's a clever, well-timed innings from the Blackcaps skipper. It's come from 96 balls, with eight boundaries and three sixes. He raises his arms to the dressing room and the Edgbaston crowd before he settles back over his bat. Brilliant stuff.

  5. NZ 253-3published at 38.4 overs

Short from Hastings and Broom latches onto it, pulling it through long-on with a hearty thwack. Now Williamson's on strike, and that's a superb bit of invention! A lap sweep, paddling the ball up and over the stumps and down to the third man boundary. He's on 99...

  6. Watch: Williamson hits Hastings for sixpublished at 15:12 British Summer Time 2 June 2017

Another big shot from the Kiwi captain as he heaves one over midwicket.

  8. NZ 242-3published at 38 overs

    Starc 8-0-42-0

Starc's full deliveries were off this morning but he's bang on with the yorkers now. It's a quieter over, Williamson and Broom settling for trading a few singles here and there.

Williamson is starting to show us how he can score runs anywhere in the ground. He has an answer for every ball and bowler. He's starting to loft the ball, for example, so the in-field can't stop him. Those fielders have also been pushed to the edge of the circle so it means there's a single for him if a good ball is bowled.

  10. 6 runs

    NZ 239-3published at 37 overs

    Williamson 94, Broom 3

Hastings, who has been the pick of the bowlers for me, continues. It's gloomy at Edgbaston and Australia's yellow/gold kit is illuminating the pitch. Shot! Williamson's down on one knee and sweeping, beating Mitch Starc and finding the boundary. And six! That's clever - Williamson saw Travis Head, out on the mid-wicket boundary, creeping forward, so he's lofted the ball smack over his head. Glorious stuff, and Williamson's into the 90's.

Australia will think no total is out of reach - they've got David Warner, Steve Smith and Glenn Maxwell after all.

  12. NZ 225-3published at 36 overs

    Williamson 81, Broom 2

That's a belter of a delivery from Mitch Starc - a bit of reverse swing, maybe? It just nipped past Broom's outside edge, and he's done well to not lay bat on it. Williamson plays an extravagant drive but only ends up being able to nick a single, and Starc digs in two yorkers as New Zealand dart up and down the wicket.

  13. Watch: Taylor caught by Henriquespublished at 14:59 British Summer Time 2 June 2017

Not the prettiest shot, but good hands from Henriques gives Hastings his second wicket.

  14. Watch: Williamson hits a four and six in consecutive ballspublished at 14:57 British Summer Time 2 June 2017

Good stuff by Williamson, showing Hastings what happens when you're slightly off line.

In the County Championship Roses clash, Lancashire have been reduced to 64-6 against Yorkshire. They won the toss and chose to bat. Almost a Nasser-at-Brisbaneesque decision. Listen to that game here.

  16. NZ 218-3published at 35 overs

    Broom 0, Williamson 76

And Henriques is back to have a bowl, with new man Neil Broom in his sights. The Aussie right-armer keeps going wide of the crease and takes the pace off the ball. Broom decides to block anything he can't crash for four.

This is always a great fixture. Your local rivals are always your hated enemy but you just can't hate New Zealand at anything.

  18. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 34 overs

    Taylor c Henriques b Hastings 46 (NZ 216-3)

Whoops. That's a horrible hoick from Taylor, and he's been caught at mid-off. Kane Williamson had taken 11 off the over already and Taylor, trying to get in on the attack, tried to loft a short Hastings' delivery into the stands. There's not enough on it, though, and Henriques takes a good catch, running to his right.

  19. 6 runs

    NZ 215-2published at 33.2 overs

I'm with Tattz on that. Dan Vettori remains my all-time favourite cricketer. Six! A slog-sweep from Williamson, thrashing the ball into the Eric Hollies stand, and his Australian counterpart Steve Smith has a look of wry amusement on his face.

New Zealand are everyone's second favourite team (unless you are Australian, or indeed, a New Zealander). Absolutely love watching them play.
