  • Williamson starred with 100 for New Zealand

  • Hazlewood took 6-52 for Australia

  • Group A: Eng 2pts, Aus 1pt, NZ 1pt, Ban 0pts

  1. NZ 286-7published at 44 overs

    Starc 9-0-52-0

Low full toss from Mitch Starc, and Mitchell Santner moves his hands quickly to hoick it down the leg side for four. A lofted drive drops just shot of Pat Cummins at long-off, and Starc grins at the batsman, before offering a quiet world of advice. Starc is one of the best death bowlers in the business and NZ are doing all they can to milk the singles.

  2. Watch: Neesham caught by Warnerpublished at 15:41 British Summer Time 2 June 2017

Another one down as Jimmy Neesham is caught by David Warner off Josh Hazlewood.

  3. Watch: Anderson's six then wicketpublished at 15:40 British Summer Time 2 June 2017

All or nothing must have been Anderson's philosophy, a huge top edge going over the ropes for a maximum before being caught by Henriques a ball later.

  4. Postpublished at 15:38 British Summer Time 2 June 2017

So, in 19 balls, New Zealand have lost four wickets for 16 runs. Not ideal at the back end of an innings, and they've thrown some of those wickets away.

  5. NZ 276-7published at 43 overs

    Hazlewood 8-0-47-3

Here's Adam Milne, and he absolutely lashes a cover drive to the boundary to his first ball! Lovely stuff, and one or two of his teammates must be a tad abashed at that. Hazlewood responds with a cracker that just beats the outside edge.

    James Taylor
Ex-England batsman on BBC Test Match Special

Maybe I'm being harsh, but that's brainless batting. New Zealand are crumbling, and not standing up to the test. They were in such a good position but now they're letting it slip.

  7. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 42.2 overs

    Neesham c Warner b Hazlewood 6 (NZ 270-7)

Another one gone! That's daft from Neesham, I'm afraid. A decent length delivery from Hazlewood and Neesham has just stood and thudded it straight down Warner's throat at long-on. Warner turns round and shushes the crowd as Neesham trudges off. That's not clever from the Blackcaps.

  8. Watch: Broom caught by Maxwellpublished at 15:33 British Summer Time 2 June 2017

Neil Broom could not get a handle on the match, with a scratchy 14 from 19 balls before being caught by Maxwell.

New Zealand are in the middle of a collapse when run-gathering should be at its peak. They are stagnating.

  10. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 41.5 overs

    Anderson c Henriques b Cummins 7 (NZ 267-6)

Aaaand that's out. Anderson went for the big shot again but Cummins is in rhythm now and he gave it a bit of extra fizz. He skied it and it was a well-judged catch from Henriques. This is turning into a bit of a damp finish from New Zealand.

  11. 6 runs

    NZ 267-5published at 41.4 overs

Ooft! That's short and fast from Cummins and Corey Anderson ends up on his backside as he sways to avoid it. That's such an awkward delivery to play so Cummins tries it again - and it's gone for six! He was on that quickly and a big ol' heave-ho sent the ball into the stands.

  12. Watch: Williamson run outpublished at 15:30 British Summer Time 2 June 2017

It had to end sometime for the New Zealand captain Kane Williamson, who is run out by Henriques.

Jay: Oh dear! New Zealand, after such a good platform, have gone into covfefe mode.

  14. NZ 260-5published at 41 overs

    Hazlewood 7-0-40-2

As Daggers says, Corey Anderson is now at the crease. Hazlewood squares him up with his first delivery, before getting off the mark with a languid single.

This partnership is about as far as New Zealand can bat. Corey Anderson and Jimmy Neesham are almost being told to score as many boundaries without getting out.

  16. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 40.1 overs

    Broom c Maxwell b Hazlewood 14 (NZ 257-5)

Ah. Broom lashes a Hazlewood delivery up into the air and Maxwell, darting in from the mid-wicket boundary, doesn't drop those. There's only six overs left and New Zealand have got two new batsmen at the crease and they're facing an Australia side with their tails up. Could be an interesting last few overs...

  17. Watch: Williamson brings up centurypublished at 15:23 British Summer Time 2 June 2017

A boundary then a quick single to bring up 100 runs for the New Zealand captain.

Ben Tickle‏: Root and Williamson scoring 100s. Over to you Smith and Kohli. Big runs from the big guns!

Akhila Ranganna: The buzz/noise around the likes of Kohli, Root and Smith means that the absolute brilliance of Williamson often goes unnoticed.

  19. NZ 257-4published at 40 overs

    Cummins 8-0-59-0

Jimmy Neesham, everyone's favourite Twitter user, is greeted to the wicket by a sharp Cummins short delivery, the ball rising and thudding into the shoulder of the bat as Neesham arcs his body out of the way. Not sure I'd have sent Neesham in over Corey Anderson - this situation seems tailor made for him.

Ex-New Zealand captain on Test Match Special

Is that a key moment in this innings? Kane Williamson was going so well. He was starting to hurt the Australians quite badly. Broom has got a lot of work to do, and he's probably feeling the guilt of that run-out.
