  1. NZ 223-8published at 44 overs

The sting has gone out of this contest. Tim Southee is swinging and swiping at Mark Wood, but it's end-of-term fun. Non-uniform day. I'm fairly certain that number of wins is the way that two teams on the same number of points are separated. Even if England lose to Australia, they will be top and back in Cardiff for next Tuesday's semi.

It's looking like a romp. I think Rashid has bowled as well as I've seen him bowl for England for a very long time. He barely bowled a bad ball in ten overs.

    Anderson c Hales b Plunkett 10 (NZ 211-8)

Start the car. We won't be long here now. Corey Anderson, New Zealand's last hope, is pouched on the leg-side fence off the bowling of Liam Plunkett. New Zealand have lost 6-58. Remember when Williamson and Taylor were cruising? Me neither.

    Andy Zaltzman
    BBC Test Match Special statistician

Corey Anderson made 131 not out from 47 balls against West Indies in 2014. He hasn't passed 40 since March 2015.

  5. NZ 208-7published at 42 overs

Adil Rashid really has done the bizo in this game. Left out at The Oval, recalled in Cardiff. He takes his cap with 2-47 from his 10 overs. Eight overs to go. New Zealand need 103 runs. Or a miracle.

Rashid should really have caught that. He'll be cross - he could be on a hat-trick now.

  7. dropped catch

Milne dropped on 0published at 41.1 overs

    NZ 206-7

Should have been two in two! Adam Milne, the new man, stabs it back at Rashid, who puts down the shin-high chance. Got to take them off your own bowling.

That's a full toss and you really have to get something on that.

That's a horrible dismissal. Something rather ignominious about that.

  10. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 41 overs

Santner st Buttler b Rashid 3 (NZ 204-7)

Brilliant from Jos Buttler! An excellent take, almost on the full, to stump Mitchell Santner off a wide. Adil Rashid saw him coming, chucked it outside the leg stump, and Santner ran past it. Still, Buttler would have been unsighted. That's a top bit of keeping. It was a googly too. There's not long left in this one for the Kiwis.

I think we'll hear some muttering after the match about the pitch.

  12. NZ 204-6published at 41 overs

    Target 311

That's a biff of a cover drive from Anderson off Stokes, but there are other deliveries where he looks like he's got a hole in his bat. Almost! Santner hits towards long-on, where the ball just fails to reach Moeen Ali. I'd forgotten Moeen was out there. No bowling today...

New Zealand might scratch their heads a little about the capricious nature of the pitch in the second innings. Whether it's the bowlers, the cross seam, or the pitch itself - who is to really know the answer to that?

  14. NZ 198-6published at 40 overs

    Need 113 from 60 balls

Mitchell Santner is another member of this Kiwi side who doesn't look likely to hit it off the square. His bowling went at nearly seven an over too. It doesn't look like he's picking Rashid. Only two from the over. Nowhere near enough.

A true team performance from England - each of their bowlers with a wicket, four of their top six batsmen making 48 or more. The pre-tournament favourites finding an unflashy yet very effective way to move towards the semi-finals.

  16. NZ 196-6published at 39 overs

England might have done well to keep Neil Broom in. He was eating up a lot of deliveries. Ben Stokes returns in the evening sunshine, torturing Santner outside the off stump. Cheers from the crowd suggest another form of entertainment, aside from watching the cricket, has emerged. The required-rate is on the way to 11.

New Zealand's middle and lower order imploded in their last match against Australia. Their problem is that they're forced to try and do something here. They might fall in a heap, but they've no choice really.

  18. NZ 194-6published at 38 overs

And yes, I have noticed that Broom got out sweeping. Mitchell Santner the new man.

It's only just clipping the top of off stump. As ridiculous as it may seem, on first glance, I can see why Paul Reiffel has given that out.

  20. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 38 overs

Broom lbw Rashid 11 (NZ 194-6)

Neil Broom is out of his misery and England are in a hurry to get this one done. The sweep shot was a fair option, but as soon as Broom missed it he was a goner. New Zealand are in all sorts of bother.
