Fakhar's making this game look easy. Beautiful base at the crease, capitalised on anything too full and any width offered. The second four is a carbon copy. The finesse, the sheer balance, on debut as well.

  2. Pak 23-0published at 4 overs

    Fakhar 20 (14)

Fakhar is on fire, South Africa are terrified!

The slight left-handed opener belts Wayne Parnell for back-to-back fours, both through the off side. He's clearly strong through that region - as his opening boundary showed (see below).

The over ends with a horrible mix-up between the two batsmen and Quinton de Kock takes aim at the non-striker's end but misses. A direct hit and Fakhar was gone.

Exquisite drive through mid-off from Fakhar. But I'm worried about AB, he might have tweaked something running for the ball there.

    Target 220

I've just had a text off my mother asking if I'm free for a takeaway on Friday. Come on Mum, I'm trying to steer a live text here.

Back to more pressing matters, Fakhar is hit on the grille by a sharp Rabada delivery. The Pakistan new boy Fakhar averages 50.46 in List A cricket at a strike-rate of 94. His ability is clear judging by a glorious straight drive for four. The ball is shepherded to the boundary by AB de Villiers, who appears to have pulled up injured. As if things couldn't get much worse for the Proteas...

It was a gift, there to be put away and that's exactly what Fakhar did. Great feet position, brilliant start.

  6. Pak 7-0published at 2 overs

    Fakhar 5, Azhar 2

Wayne Parnell is one of the best strike bowlers in one-day cricket judging by his stats in the last two years. Only Mustafizur and Hasan Ali, who shone with the ball for Pakistan earlier, better his strike-rate of 27. He doesn't start well here though, delivering a horrible short, wide delivery which is belted through the off side for four by debutant left-handed opener Fakhar Zaman.

I'm looking forward to seeing Fakhar bat, I've not seen him play before.

  9. Pak 2-0published at 1 over

    Target 220

Azhar Ali is no dasher like Sanath Jayasuriya. He likes to feel bat on ball early doors and his forward defensive to Kagiso Rabada is rattled by one which rears up and strikes him on the gloves from a good length. He gets his side's run-chase under way with two off his hips.

  10. Postpublished at 17:40 British Summer Time 7 June 2017

Kagiso Rabada is ready to tear in and unsettle the Pakistan batting line-up. Away we go.

    Thanks Stephan.

Let's be honest, when Pakistan are good at cricket the world is a better place isn't it? It was exhilarating at times earlier...

Akram Hussain: From 118/6 to 219/8. Knew Pakistan wouldn't finish it off. Now watch them crumble to 30/6 and all out for 90.

    Text 81111

It's all well and good Pakistan giving it high fives in the field but they really should have knocked SA over for 180. With Pakistan batting frailties I doubt they will make 220.

Sean: I think we're understating Miller's knock here, he's been there since 14.4 overs. Outstanding effort from the guy.
