We thought this was going to be one-sided because of the way Pakistan played against India. However, you can never really write Pakistan off because of their mercurial nature. They are number one in the world at surprising people.

Why is this a day/night match anyway? All the matches in a tournament in England in early June should start at 10:30am with an option of floodlights till 10:30pm if needed.

Pakistan's Hasan Ali was the pick of the bowlers for me. After the top four departed, he took the important wickets of Duminy and Parnell to leave South Africa reeling.

He finished with figures of 8-1-24-3

In fact, let's see that wicket again but this time packaged together with the wickets of Hashim Amla, Quinton de Kock and Faf du Plessis.

The Pakistan bowlers powered through the South African top order.

KAP: Any chance that cricket can start a game early because rain is forecast? Surely that isn't hard to do?

Shoaib Malik showed every bit of his experience in them last few overs before the rain, making sure Pakistan were well above the DLS par score. Babar Azam has also stood firm in this innings.

Harry Bridges: Will the cricket be a draw?? Or will Pakistan win because they're ahead on the DLS?

As it stands, if play does not resume then Pakistan will win. They are 19 runs ahead of the DLS par score. More than 20 overs have also been bowled in this innings, so we will have a result.

So, Pakistan are in a somewhat commanding position and they owe a bit of that to debutant Fakhar Zaman. The opener looked well placed on the international stage. He scored six boundaries in his 31 before South Africa made the breakthrough.

South Africa will want to get out there and try and win this game today - they won't want to be in a position where they need to beat India in their final game to reach the semi-finals.
