  1. SL 53-1published at 11 overs

    Target 322

India are looking sharp in the field. This over started with a close shy at the stumps and Mendis has to get his skates on as another throw is fired in from the deep.

  2. SL 50-1published at 10.3 overs

It doesn't matter how Sri Lanka get them...

Kumar beats the diminutive Mendis for pace but the Sri Lankan top edges the ball over Dhoni's head for four.

    Thanks Jack.

What chance do Sri Lanka have here?

The required rate is already nudging seven runs an over. Gunathilaka is taking a fancy to Yadav (see the videos below) but Sri Lanka need more of that.

  4. SL 43-1published at 10 overs

    Shades of Kumar Sangakkara here?

High praise indeed but the left-handed Gunathilaka punches another four down the ground.

High elbow, deft timing, plenty of power. Sri Lanka's hopes could rest on him today.

They'll also need to hope that Matthew Henry is a lucky omen. Here he is to take you through the rest of Sri Lanka's run chase...

  5. Re-live Dhawan's centurypublished at 15:26 British Summer Time 8 June 2017

If you're just joining us, you probably missed Shikhar Dhawan's century. Don't worry, we've got you covered...

  6. SL 38-1published at 9 overs

Mendis gets in on the boundary action but in streaky fashion, edging Kumar away through where second slip would've been.

Kumar despairs but responds well with four straight dot balls.

I think India need to score more than what they did today later in the tournament. Teams like England score 310 and 320 in their sleep, it seems.

Simon Hughes may be ducking for cover having put that view out there, but he may have a point.

The best sides in one-day cricket now regularly clear 350 from the position India found themselves in at one point, with only a few wickets down.

Instead, they got restricted by Sri Lanka's part-timers and ended up having to mount a bit of a charge to get up to 321.

This is an interesting point of view from TMS analyst Simon Hughes...

  10. SL 34-1published at 8 overs

Yadav is back on the money to finish the over. Better sign from Sri Lanka though.

Gunathilaka looks decent, doesn't he? He's getting a great stride in and playing some lovely shots.

  12. SL 34-1published at 7.3 overs

It doesn't get him six but if anything this shot is better from Gunathilaka.

Yadav pitches it up, 90mph, but Gunathilaka gets onto the front foot and executes an exquisite flashing drive as the ball races away through the covers.

  13. 6 runs

    SL 28-1published at 7.1 overs

Kumar is accurate, but Yadav has an extra yard of pace and that can work against you when you get the length wrong.

Gunathilaka picks up the short ball straight away, arcing a hook shot away for six.

  14. SL 22-1published at 7 overs

Kumar has barely strayed from a good line and length so far, mixing it up at times with his knuckle ball.

Sri Lanka can do nowt but nudge it around for one or two, here or there.

Dickwella's wicket is a lesson in how not to play a straight ball, angled away from you outside off.

Heavens knows how he hoped to get this over the leg side...

  16. SL 17-1published at 6 overs

Now they won't have Dickwella to blast away early on, what is Sri Lanka's plan B here?

For now, they seem happy to settle in, nurdle a couple of singles. India's opening bowlers have been impressive so far.

Has any side during this tournament so far bowled their allotted overs within the three-and-a half-hour time limit? It seems to me that over rates have slackened so much even in ODIs and the umpires aren’t doing anything to quicken things.

Won't somebody please think of the live texters too?! The slow over-rate curtailed lunch - barely time to scoff a sandwich or make a brew. First world problems and all.

So Sri Lanka have lost one opener in Dickwella and almost lost Gunathilaka too early on as he strayed dangerously out of his ground and nearly saw his stumps rearranged by Jadhav's throw...

  19. SL 15-1published at 5 overs

Kusal Mendis is the next man but it will be Gunathilaka to face. He sees off one ball then blasts one through the covers for four to spoil Kumar's otherwise excellent over.

That was an uncomfortable innings from Dickwella and now a tough chase gets even harder.
