    Dickwella c Jadeja b Kumar 7 (SL 11-1)

He's been moving all about the crease and now he's got to move his way back to the pavilion.

A thoroughly awkward innings from Dickwella has a fitting end as he tries to thwack Kumar across the line and only succeeds in getting a leading edge that is snared by Jadeja, running back at backward point.

Looked like a bit of a knuckle ball from Kumar - whatever variation he put on it, Dickwella was tricked into making a false stroke. Advantage India early on.

  3. SL 11-0published at 4 overs

You know that bloke who plays for your village cricket team that sees off an over or two and then reckons it's time to start clearing the ropes?

Dickwella is firmly in that mindset here, albeit with bundles more ability.

The wicketkeeper is charging forwards, backwards, left and right about his crease to try and bamboozle Yadav.

It's not quite coming off yet though. Just four singles from the over.

How do you even begin to describe that shot from Dickwella? Other than a flip/paddle/pull?

  5. SL 7-0published at 3 overs

Dickwella attempts a remarkable combination of various shots of the penultimate ball of the over, eventually whipping it into the leg-side. Just a single though and just three off the over.

It is hard to defend totals at The Oval. Sri Lanka just need to get a foothold in the game and shift the balance of pressure.

  7. SL 5-0published at 2.2 overs

A strangled appeal for LBW from Kumar as he raps Gunathilaka's pads with a full and straight one. No interest from many of his team-mates or the umpire though.

  8. SL 4-0published at 2 overs

Yadav will open up for India alongside Kumar.

He starts with two slips but the second is quickly moved to a close point position, anticipating a flashy cut from Dickwella perhaps?

He duly does go at a wide one but it's well-timed only for new dad Ravindra Jadeja at backward point to do well and prevent it racing away.

India's bowling is so versatile. Any of them can open the bowling or bowl at the death.

  10. SL 2-0published at 1 over

Kumar is on the money with a couple of dots to start. Dickwella then picks up a couple - wait, has Umesh Yadav fielded this with his foot on the rope? No, he's just about fine.

Ooooft. Danushka Gunathilaka is anything but fine at the non-striker's end, coming way out of his crease and failing to get back as the Sri Lanka pair hesitate.

A direct hit from Kedar Jadhav and Gunathilaka would've been run out without facing by a good three metres.
