  1. SL 104-1published at 19.3 overs

    Oh Yuvi.

The all-rounder shows all of his 35 years with a poor effort in the field here.

First of all he could well have caught this shot from Mendis on the mid on boundary but he definitely should have prevented the boundary.

In the end Yuvraj does neither and Mendis picks up four more.

  2. SL 98-1published at 19 overs

    Target 322

Pandya comes back well after that six, only conceding another two singles.

There are a couple of worries faces on the Indian fans faces in the crowd. These two are going well.

  3. 6 runs

    SL 96-1published at 18.2 overs

    Gunathilaka 52 Mendis 29

Where was this lad in Sri Lanka's first game?

Gunathilaka, who is only playing because of an injury to Chamara Kapugedera, lifts Pandya over the leg-side for six.

    That brings up his 50.

Gunathilaka and Mendis have put on 79 so far. It has not been all plain sailing with a couple of risky edges and this dropped catch.

  5. SL 90-1published at 18 overs

232 runs to win from 32 overs

Here's the first spin of the day. Left-arm spinner Ravi Jadeja into the attack.

A nightmare for a live texter this fella, he really rattles through his overs.

He's got his hair tied back with a hair band plus a mustache and beard that looks a bit like Johnny Depp's.

Good start. Just three off the over.

  6. SL 87-1published at 17 overs

It has been much calmer from these two compared to the early aggression of Dickwella but much more effective.

They mop a further six runs off the rest of a Pandya over, helped by a wayward bouncer from the seamer which is called a wide.

  7. SL 81-1published at 16.2 overs

Another boundary to Sri Lanka's left-handed opener.

This time it comes off the outside edge and down to third man.

The Sri Lankan fans are outnumbered by Indians in the crowd but they like that.

I'm very impressed with Gunathilaka's batting. He looks very confident and is belying his inexperience both in one-day cricket and English conditions. Saying that, a pitch like this today is very similar to the type of pitch you would find in India.

  9. SL 76-1published at 16 overs

    Gunathilaka 37 Mendis 26

Sri Lanka have set a good platform here but India are keeping it tight. We haven't had a boundary since the 12th over.

Bumrah with his awkward-looking straight arm action gets one to skid off the pitch and hit Gunathilaka on the pads. The bowler appeals but there is not much interest from elsewhere.

What a response from the batsman. Drilled through mid on for four by Gunathilaka. He has looked good. Sri Lanka are still in this.

I hope India tighten up on their fielding and catching. We saw 2 fairly simple catches dropped against Pakistan.

SL 70-1 - Dropped catchpublished at 15 overs

A very tough chance but a chance nonetheless.

Mendis drills another drive straight back at Hardik Pandya in his follow-through. The bowler gets a good hand to it but can't cling on.

Yuvraj has his hands on his head in the field.

Pandya keeps it tight though and completes his maiden.

  12. SL 70-1published at 14.4 overs

    "Catch it!"

Ooooooh just short. Mendis lofts a drives just a couple of yards in front of the cover fielder off Pandya.

Tight stuff. Four singles to start this Pandya over.

Sri Lanka have built a nice platform but now they need to get cracking.

  14. SL 70-1published at 14 overs

Gunathilaka takes a step down the pitch and tries to drive Bumrah through long on. It is up-ish but falls short of the fielder.

The batsman won't be taking another stride down the pitch again soon. Bumrah responds by fizzing a bouncer right past his grille.

This one wasn't quite where he aimed but Gunathilaka wins the battle for now as he helps a poor delivery round the corner to four.

Eventually, when you're chasing 320, you have to take the bowling on. The traps have been set in the field and it's fraught with danger for the batsmen. They can't let everything go.

  16. SL 64-1published at 13 overs

One maximum aside, there were not many fireworks with the bat from Hardik Pandya today, how will he fare with the ball?

With his hair perfectly groomed, he starts well. A tidy first over. Just the three off it. The required rate is now above seven.

Sri Lanka's number three Kusal Mendis is getting tested out with the short ball.

It may have something to do with the way he dealt with this one from Kumar earlier.

    It brought him four though.

  18. SL 59-1published at 12 overs

More good work at backward point by Ravi Jadeja, who has just become a father today, to prevent a single from the final ball of the cover.

How long until we see a little bit of spin?

The seamers are doing a good job for Virat Kohli at the moment so I think Jadeja might have a wait yet.

  19. SL 57-1published at 11.3 overs

    Gunathilaka 28 Mendis 22

That was hit much closer to the middle of the bat. Jasprit Bumrah comes into the attack and 22-year-old Mendis drives his third delivery off the back foot for four.

  20. Postpublished at 15:36 British Summer Time 8 June 2017

Mendis has scraped his way to 17 with the help of a couple of fortunate boundaries. One a mis-timed pull and the other an edge through the vacant slip cordon...
