  1. Pak 175-7published at 35 overs

Gunaratne runs in quicker than he bowls the ball. Amir, the left-hander, needs to be careful when looking for width. It's generally not there. Pakistan continue their slow crawl. We've only had 17 runs in seven overs.

The overall standard of cricket has been low from what you expect at an ICC event. Dropped catches, barring a few worldies here and there, poor running between the wickets, insipid bowling and lacklustre batting in most of the matches. Only England seem to be in any sort of form at the moment. Hope the knockouts are played at a higher level of skill.

    Target 237

Nuwan Pradeep returns - Mathews is going for the jugular. Two slips, Mathews waving his arms like a traffic cop , a short cover coming in to attack Amir. He still gets it through for a couple on the off side. Amir has two ODI half-centuries, you know.

  4. Pak 168-7published at 33 overs

    Target 237

Gunaratne returns - Angelo Mathews is mixing his options in order to get the 10 from the fifth bowler out of the way. A slip in place for Amir, who can't take advantage when he's served a full toss. The scorers are having a nap. They are barely needed at the moment.

It's safe to say that both of these teams are utterly awful. England through to the final.

Sri Lanka fans have a drum and a trumpet in the stand. The dancing is orderly. More of a sway than an outright boogie. Sarfraz isn't keen on giving Amir the strike, but he doesn't have much choice. Also, nothing stirs you into action quite so quickly as a typo in the score, does it?

Because the pitch has got something in it, the batsmen are never in and can't take too many liberties.

  8. Pak 164-7published at 31 overs

    Need 73 from 114 balls

Danushka Gunathilaka to bowl his off-breaks, maybe burgling an over or two. Sarfraz looks like a skipper going down with his ship. He dare not play the big one, for his departure would be terminal. Amir is uncertain. An excitable and optimistic appeal for leg before is turned down. Sri Lanka are all over this one.

  9. Pak 162-7published at 30 overs

Mohammad Amir is the new man. Pakistan look like toast.

What a way to go for Faheem. Things are definitely not going their way now.

Faheem run out 15 (Pak 162-7)

Unbelievable. This is a massive, massive moment in this match. Faheem Ashraf is run out backing up. You could say it's unlucky, but you could also say it's pretty dozy. Bowler Thisara Perera got a good hand on the ball and it was a big deflection on to the stumps. When the bails came off, Faheem's bat was a cigarette paper off the ground. Incredible.

Oh, hello? Run out backing up? Sri Lanka are keen...

That is a dangerous run. Faheem was happy with the call but he wasn't going to the danger end.

  14. Pak 158-6published at 29 overs

    Need 79 from 126 balls

Now then. Game on here. Danushka Gunaratne is on to bowl his off-cutting dobbers. I can't imagine that Faheem will allow him to bowl too many of those. What's going on here?!?! Would have been miles out - Sarfraz taking an awful single only to be saved by a wide throw.

  15. drinks break

    Drinks breakpublished at 28 overs

    Pak 157-6

Drinks are being taken. Vodka needed. Pakistan's last three wickets went down for 27 runs...

  16. Pak 157-6published at 28 overs

    Sarfraz 20, Faheem 12

I'm telling you now, do not take your eyes of this one. Sri Lanka are learning pretty quickly that Faheem Ashraf doesn't mind having a hook. After that previous maximum, he's now taken Nuwan Pradeep for four. Sarfraz tells Faheem to leave the next bumper. It takes every ounce of self-control to do just that. When Faheem gets into a tangle against another short ball, he somehow deflects it with his elbow for four leg byes.

No shortage of drama, sometimes these low-scoring games can be just as exciting. This tournament is coming alive.

  18. 6 runs

    Pak 145-6published at 27 overs

    Target 237

Don't worry about the required rate - that's more than manageable. Pakistan are just more likely to run out of batsmen before they get there. Malinga bowls two lengths to Faheem - very full and very short. Faheem, though, won't be dying wondering Pulled for six! This next hour could be brilliant.

Zeb Bowyer: Pakistan once again proving to be the masters of 'snatching defeat from the jaws of victory' ... Sarfraz needs a captains knock.

  20. Pak 137-6published at 26 overs

    Pradeep 7-0-43-3

For those keeping score, Pakistan have lost five for 45. Faheem Ashraf is on debut, but I believe he gives it a biff. He gets a pat on the back from Sarfraz. Good luck, lad.
