  1. Pak 108-0published at 19 overs

    Azhar 45, Fakhar 55

Mark Wood is back and Azhar Ali plays an odd-looking shot to a short ball, his wrists crossed over, head pointed in the wrong direction, and the ball somehow misses everything as it makes its way through to Jos Buttler. Azhar readjusts and pats the ball square of the wicket for two easy singles. Cruising it.

Azhar gave himself room and walloped it, almost Eoin Morgan style, up and over. Pakistan are cruising to victory.

  3. Pak 105-0published at 18 overs

    Target 212

Moeen's first delivery is a good 'un, too close for the attempted cut that Fakhar slices its way. A jogged single brings up Pakistan's 100, and the crowd get to their feet to applaud. It is very much a crowd full of Pakistan fans in Cardiff this afternoon, enjoying some glorious sunshine and some England misery. That is glorious from Fakhar, giving himself some room and thrashing the ball to the boundary.

Here are a few of those aggressive shots from the Pakistan openers as this partnership just keeps on chugging along. Here's Moeen - can he change things around for England?

  5. 50 runs

50 for Fakharpublished at 17 overs

    Pak 99-0

That's a very good half-century for Fakhar Zaman, who raises his bat to the dressing room and kisses the crest on his helmet. He looked a little frantic first up but he stuck in there and he's taken England's bowlers to task.

Pakistan are all over it. England are searching for something, just to get that little opening to get into the game. They're completely out of it at the moment. Pakistan have put on a real performance, everything has gone their way. But England's bowlers haven't tested them enough.

  7. Pak 95-0published at 16 overs

    Target 212

This partnership is racing along with a run rate of 5.80. A good over from Plunkett is spoiled by the last ball, Plunkett just offering up a hint of width, and Fakhar rolls his wrists to hoick the ball through mid-wicket and away for four.

Nobody should criticise England if they lose this one. They have been a revelation over the last two years. On their day, any international team can beat any other. Add to this the natural, if sometimes mercurial talent that Pakistan has, it is no disgrace at all to lose the odd game to the better team on the day. The England ODI team are in a good place.

  9. Pak 88-0published at 15 overs

    Azhar 37, Fakhar 43

Pakistan turned to spin reasonably early and Eoin Morgan has followed a similar plan. He's tossed the ball to Adil Rashid. Ooft, that's tight running: Fakhar plays a cutesy little sweep, dinking the ball around the corner, but he's slow coming back for the second and Buttler whips the bails off. He's in, though, and Fakhar responds with a dance down the pitch and flaying the bowler for four.

You rarely get totally one-sided games but at the moment this is building up like it might well be. Pakistan shouldn't really mess it up from here.

  11. Pak 81-0published at 14 overs

    Target 212

What's Liam Plunkett got in his locker? A tighter line, for starters. There's little width from Plunkett, taking the pace off the ball, and it frustrates both batsmen.

Here's what England's bowlers have been contending with so far...

The discipline hasn't been there from England at all, there's too many short balls.

  13. Pak 78-0published at 13 overs

    Azhar 34, Fakhar 36

There's a look of grim resignation on Eoin Morgan's face as he watches Azhar throw his arms at a wide delivery and the ball skips merrily away to the boundary. Stokes has to tighten this line up, because any width is being jumped on by these two batsmen.

  14. 6 runs

    Pak 72-0published at 12.1 overs

Adil Rashid had brief dreams of taking a stunner of a catch down on the fine leg boundary, there. Instead a top edge from Azhar Ali has flown over him and into the stands. That was poor bowling from Stokes. Short, wide and far too easy for the batsman to open his arms.

Fakhar is only going to play one way, he's going to be aggressive and go after the bowler. Pakistan were patient when bowling in the first 15 overs, stuck to their line and length and got nibble off the pitch. Stokes needs to be as tight as he possibly can.

  16. Pak 66-0published at 12 overs

Double change for England - here's Liam Plunkett. And that'll be four. A bit of nothing from Plunkett, short and heading down leg, and Azhar is more than happy to help it on its way. A crafty bit of running allows Azhar to pick up another couple of runs. Over on TMS, Aggers is discussing the merits of Veet, which Jonny Bairstow apparently uses on his legs. Jay‏: England should treat Azhar Ali as their best friend in this run chase and protect his wicket at all costs.

Carl Wills: Will people stop complaining, it's a knockout game ... I'm impressed with where English cricket is heading! Proud, win or lose.

  18. Pak 56-0published at 11 overs

    Target 212

Width from Stokes, and Fakhar cracks it off the bottom edge into the cover for an easy single. Moeen had just been moved from that exact spot to go stand nearer the ropes. Ooh, that's too wide again from Stokes, heading down leg, and Azhar helps it on its way to the fine leg boundary. A shake of the head from Stokes as he stomps back to his mark.

Fakhar should have got air miles for that top edge, never mind runs. Anyway, Ben Stokes is on. England would love his knack of taking a wicket in his first over to kick in.

England will be frustrated. The ball has gone in the air a few times but hasn't found the fielder. Fakhar shouldn't change his mode of playing, running down and smashing it. England are right up against it. They need a wicket or two to change the tempo.
