My Dad will be purring at home watching the Rohit Sharma on-drive. It's the best shot in cricket.

  2. Ind 25-0published at 4 overs

    Rohit 15, Dhawan 10

Oh, not there, Mustafizur. It's wide, again, and this time it's Rohit Sharma who leans into it and strokes a drive calmly beyond the fielder at point. And again! Another wide half-volley and this time Rohit gives it a good old clatter, a big drive racing away to the boundary. The final delivery gets the best treatment of the lot, a beautiful little push down the ground for another four. Only dot balls and boundaries on offer from Mustafizur at the minute.

This Bangladesh opening pair are not looking very threatening.

  4. Ind 13-0published at 3 overs

    Target 265

Mashrafe continues, offering up no width and just putting the ball on a nice length. There's nothing much doing for the bowlers and it's easy as you like for the batsman to work a single here and drop the ball there. Bangladesh will have been eyeing up some early wickets.

    James Taylor
Ex-England batsman on BBC Test Match Special

Against New Zealand, Bangladesh's death bowling was as good as I've seen for a while. For me, they could cause an upset.

  6. Ind 11-0published at 2 overs

Here's The Fiz, and that's four! That's a horrid long hop from Mustafizur Rahman and Shikhar Dhawan climbed into it, lashing the ball through cover. And again! Another bit of short rubbish is served up and duly dispatched by Dhawan, a ferocious cut that flies to the ropes. Mustafizur decides that a fuller length might be slightly better, and India pat away his final few balls.

This total is enough to win a game of cricket if you bowl well in the middle of the innings. What England would have given for an extra 50 runs yesterday.

  8. Ind 2-0published at 1 over

    Target 265

And Rohit gets India going with a little tuck off his hips for two. The Bangladesh fielders make a half-hearted appeal as Dhawan wanders out of his crease and the fielder hits the stumps, but Dhawan had all the time he needed to saunter back in to safety. That's a nice, tidy over first up, though.

Cheers, Jack. Right then. Rohit Sharma is lining up his guard, Shikhar Dhawan is putting on his gloves and Mashrafe Mortaza has the ball in his hands. Here we go...

Ok the Bangladesh fielders are streaming out onto the Edgbaston field, now bathed in sunshine after a gloomy start to the day.

And out come India openers Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan to join them.

That's my cue to swing this live text back over to Amy Lofthouse for the start of India's chase. Catch you later.

All that leaves India needing 265 to win from 50 overs at 5.30 runs per over.

If they knock them off, rivals Pakistan await in the final.

Or can Bangladesh's bowlers pick off India's top order and restrict the runs?
