Another half-century for Hampshire at the Ageas Bowl and this time it's Sean Ervine who reaches his landmark.

Six fours in 72 balls have got him there and he and Michael Carberry (83 not out) are building a very handsome stand for the fourth wicket, worth 93 runs so far.

WICKET Collingwood (c Wessels b Pattinson) 40published at 18:05 British Summer Time 15 April 2017

    Durham 162 & 95-4 v Nottinghamshire 305

Big breakthrough for Nottinghamshire at Chester-le-Street as James Pattinson removes Paul Collingwood.

It's a belter of a one-handed catch from Riki Wessels to remove him at first slip.

Well worth looking for that clip on social media if you can find it!

    Durham still 48 runs behind.

    Derbyshire 281 v Northamptonshire 235-8

    Alex Winter

It's been an outrageous afternoon at Derby. Northants were perfectly placed at 101-0, only to slide in a succession of poor strokes to 171-8. Truly incredible.

Now the conditions are being put into perspective with a half-century stand for the ninth wicket that has at least given Northants a batting point. It hasn't been without fortune, but there has been a little more application.

Max Holden, 19, and on loan from Middlesex, nervously prodded and shouldered arms for 20 balls trying to get his first runs in the County Championship.

Eventually he got off the mark and has since played some pleasant strokes to try and limit the damage of this poor first innings for the visitors.

    Warwickshire 178 v Yorkshire 240-5

    Stephan Shemilt
    BBC Sport at Edgbaston

It's a slog for Warwickshire, but at least they keep chipping away - Jeetan Patel's dismissal of  Jack Leaning is reward for the off-spinner, who has wheeled away for a long period and has just begun to find some extra bounce.

It's also a test of endurance for the spectators. Do not be fooled by the overhead sunshine - a bitter wind makes it feel freezing cold.

Craig Overton and Jack Leach put some of their more exalted batting colleagues' efforts in stark perspective in a last wicket partnership of 50.

It was built on good shot selection and common-sense, which re-established Somerset's grip on this game.

    Essex need 255 to win.

Possible, rather than probable, but if Leach and Overton can add 50, what can Alastair Cook and co achieve?

  7. Leaning falls for Yorkshirepublished at 17:48 British Summer Time 15 April 2017

    Warwickshire 178 v Yorkshire 225-5

Warwickshire keep plugging away at Edgbaston despite Yorkshire taking the lead earlier.

Jack Leaning is the latest to get in and get out for the visitors, going for 40 to Jeetan Patel as Sam Hain takes a catch at short leg.

Already a 47-run advantage for the White Rose though.

  8. wicket

    WICKET C Overton (c Zaidi b Wagner) 22published at 17:44 British Summer Time 15 April 2017

    Somerset 209 & 174 v Essex 129

Essex finally bowl Somerset out for 174 as Neil Wagner grabs his sixth wicket of the innings after Craig Overton chases a rising ball outside the off stump and sends it into the hands of Ashar Zaidi.

Overton and Jack Leach (27 not out) shared a 50-run tenth-wicket partnership - the highest of the innings - to put the hosts in the driving seat at Taunton.

Alastair Cook and his Essex teammates have it all to do if they're going to pull off a victory from here, they need 255 to win.

  9. Durham continue to plug awaypublished at 17:43 British Summer Time 15 April 2017

    Durham 162 & 74-3 v Nottinghamshire 305

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Newcastle

After the loss of three early wickets Durham captain Paul Collingwood and opener Keaton Jennings have done their best to calm things down.

Jennings now has 26 and Collingwood 30 and their fourth-wicket stand of 46 means Durham are now 69 behind at 74-3.

However there's still a lot of play left today. Play may not finish until about 19:05 BST if the weather holds, with 22 overs still left to play in the day.

    Hampshire 170-3 v Middlesex 356

    Kevan James
BBC Radio Solent at Ageas Bowl

Seeing Micheal Carberry bat in the middle isn't something we were sure we would ever see again after last season.

Here he is again (currently 70 not out) doing what he's done many many times before.

He presents the straightest of bats. He's the model of concentration and the master of putting the bad ball away.

He's been in good form in pre-season, scoring a hundred against Cardiff Uni. Runs before that on the warm-up trip in Barbados, and almost 70 runs in two innings last week at Yorkshire.

He's given one chance so far, dropped in the slips when on 25. Earlier he clattered into Toby Roland-Jones, aggravating an old hand injury for which there was a lengthy delay and plenty of concern shown by the opposition players when he was on his knees.

But he's still there, and everyone is glad that he is.

Some resistance for the hosts at Taunton as Essex get frustrated by last pair Craig Overton (22 not out) and Jack Leach (24 not out).

    Derbyshire 281 v Northamptonshire 178-8

    Dave Fletcher
BBC Radio Derby Sport at Derby

Derbyshire's bowlers are giving their side the upper hand at the County Ground where Northamptonshire have collapsed from 101-0 to 171-8, 110 runs behind.

Four wickets have gone since tea thanks to a combination of improved bowling from the home side and some injudicious shot selection.

Richard Levi was caught behind for 11, Adam Rossington was leg before for 17, Steven Crook was brilliantly caught at slip by Daryn Smit and Rory Kleinveldt was dismissed for one.

  15. Leach counter attack pushes Somerset past 150published at 17:21 British Summer Time 15 April 2017

    Somerset 209 & 164-9 v Essex 129

After a flurry of wickets just after tea, Jack Leach and Craig Overton are holding out firmly at Taunton to help the hosts continue to build their lead.

The pair's 40-run tenth-wicket partnership is the second biggest of the innings for Somerset as Essex search for the final scalp goes on.

WICKET Stoneman (lbw b Clark) 40published at 17:21 British Summer Time 15 April 2017

    Surrey 67-1 v Lancashire 470

Surrey lose a first wicket of their reply to Lancashire's 470 and Mark Stoneman is dismissed by one of the visitors' centurions Jordan Clark.

Scott Borthwick is the man to join Rory Burns in the middle at The Oval.

  17. Kent stung by Sussex tailpublished at 17:11 British Summer Time 15 April 2017

There was a time when my colleagues and I in the commentary box were discussing a Sussex follow-on, particularly when they were 97-6.

    How foolish we were.

Ben Brown (90) and Jofra Archer (60 not out), who has become Kent's nemesis with bat and ball, put on a majestic 98-run partnership for the final wicket.

Sussex's tail went from having the potency of a Manx Cat to a scorpion.

We now have a straight shoot-out in this second innings between both sides, with Kent's lead a rather nominal 13.

The visitors have started positively, with opener Daniel Bell-Drummond having a big point to prove.

They had to wait a while due to Shivnarine Chanderpaul's defiance, but Surrey have made a perfect start to their first innings.

Rory Burns (pictured above) and Mark Stoneman have put on a half-century stand already as bat continues to dominate ball at The Oval.

If you're by your digital radio or your computer, it's not long now until you can tune to BBC Radio 5 live Sports Extra to hear the rest of the second day's play from Chester-le-Street.

Once they've collated all the times from the Bahrain Grand Prix qualifying, Kevin Howells and the gang will be there to describe it all to you.

  20. Glamorgan remain solid after teapublished at 16:57 British Summer Time 15 April 2017

    Glamorgan 207 & 56-0 v Worcestershire 403

    Peter Miller
    BBC Sport at Cardiff

A steady start after tea has seen Glamorgan put on the highest stand of their season thus far.

This is still a very good pitch that does give the bowlers something to play with, but also rewards batsmen who apply themselves.

Glamorgan have a long way to go before they can consider this match in the balance, but an opening stand of more than fifty is a good start for the home team.
