Summary

  • Essex set 255 to beat Somerset at Taunton

  • Shivnarine Chanderpaul scores 182 in nearly eight hours for Lancashire v Surrey

  • England opener Keaton Jennings scores his first half-century of season for Durham

  1. dropped catch

Dropped catch for Middlesexpublished at 15:03 British Summer Time 15 April 2017

    Hampshire 71-2 v Middlesex 356

Nearly two wickets in two overs for James Franklin but Michael Carberry survives.

He's put down on 25 at first slip and that sounded like a regulation chance that should have been held.

  2. wicket

WICKET Vince (c Rayner b Franklin) 8published at 14:58 British Summer Time 15 April 2017

    Hampshire 70-2 v Middlesex 356

Another one down for Hampshire and it's James Vince who departs this time.

Try and guess how he went? Yep, you've got it, driving outside off stump and edging through to second slip and the hands of Ollie Rayner.

Skipper James Franklin with the breakthrough.

  3. wicket

WICKET Fletcher (run out Jennings / Collingwood) 92published at 14:58 British Summer Time 15 April 2017

    Durham 162 v Nottinghamshire 264-8

Heartbreak for Luke Fletcher as he is runout for his joint highest first-class score of 92.

The 28-year-old slipped as he attempted to make his crease after being sent back by James Pattinson and Paul Collingwood made no mistake as he removed the bails.

  4. 50 runs

50 for Peter Handscombpublished at 14:53 British Summer Time 15 April 2017

    Warwickshire 178 v Yorkshire 103-2

A maiden fifty for Peter Handscomb for Yorkshire and it has been a superb innings by the Australian.

The 25-year-old hit seven fours as his half-century came off 89 balls and pushed the visitors past 100 at Edgbaston.

  5. 150 runs

150 for Shivnarine Chanderpaulpublished at 14:49 British Summer Time 15 April 2017

    Surrey v Lancashire 423-9

And it just keeps on going and going for Shivnarine Chanderpaul and Lancashire.

The West Indian reaches his 150 with his 19th boundary of a 298-ball stay at the crease.

Superb effort, and on one leg for a large part of it but the sounds of things.

  6. Gloucestershire go through the gearspublished at 14:48 British Summer Time 15 April 2017

    Gloucestershire 402-7 v Leicestershire

    Bob Hunt
    BBC Radio Gloucestershire at Bristol

After a slightly turgid morning at Bristol, the home side have increased the momentum as they look for a big total.

Jack Taylor reached his half-century with a typically outlandish six following the dismissal of stand-in captain Phil Mustard for 72.

When or if will they declare? With a slightly dodgy forecast for tomorrow, I think they will put the visitors in when they have reached about 450.

  7. Barker makes the breakthrough for Bearspublished at 14:44 British Summer Time 15 April 2017

    Warwickshire 178 v Yorkshire 97-2

Keith Barker makes a vital breakthrough for Warwickshire as Alex Lees is caught at second slip by Rikki Clarke for 36.

The hosts will be hoping that wicket can the be catalyst for further breakthrough with the visitors now trailing by just 81 runs.

  8. wicket

WICKET Adams (c Franklin b Rayner) 34published at 14:36 British Summer Time 15 April 2017

    Hampshire 57-1 v Middlesex 356

Spin makes the breakthrough for champions Middlesex at the Ageas Bowl as Ollie Rayner splits the Hampshire opening partnership of Jimmy Adams and Michael Carberry in just his second over.

Finds the left-hander's outside edge and skipper James Franklin snaffles the catch in the slips.

  9. wicket

WICKET Abell (c Wheater b Porter) 0published at 14:36 British Summer Time 15 April 2017

    Somerset 209 & 25-2 v Essex 129

    Jamie PorterImage source, Rex Features

Not the start life as Somerset captain that Tom Abell would have wanted as he follows up his one in the first innings with a six ball duck in the second.

Essex fast bowler Jamie Porter enticed the edge but the hosts may already have too many runs for a fourth innings chase on a turning pitch.

  10. Five-wicket haul for Mark Footittpublished at 14:27 British Summer Time 15 April 2017

    Surrey v Lancashire 407-9

    Mark FootittImage source, Getty Images

Mark Footitt's in the wickets yet again after he grabbed the headlines last week with a devastating spell against Warwickshire.

Another five-for this week for the left-armer, who's having a storming start to the season.

  11. Yorkshire untroubled at Edgbastonpublished at 14:24 British Summer Time 15 April 2017

    Warwickshire 178 v Yorkshire 83-1

After Warwickshire's batting woes, particularly on day one, the home side will not be enjoying the ease at which Yorkshire's Peter Hanscombe and Alex Lees are batting with supreme ease.

The hosts could probably do with Chris Woakes, who's just picked up a wicket for the Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League.

  12. wicket

WICKET Parry (c Foakes b Footitt) 21published at 14:24 British Summer Time 15 April 2017

    Surrey v Lancashire 407-9

Surrey return from their delayed lunch break and have the wicket of Stephen Parry courtesy of seamer Mark Footitt finding his outside edge.

A couple of balls later and another one goes with Kyle Jarvis falling in the same fashion.

Chanderpaul might be left stranded short of 150.

  13. Food for commentators as Hampshire tuck inpublished at 14:23 British Summer Time 15 April 2017

Not sure anyone can beat this....we have just had a curry delivered to the commentary box.

A chance remark about an outlet on the ground (didn't mention the name!) was heard by the said chefs as they had the radio on.

They duly sent the food over today, and it's very nice!!!

Meanwhile, in the middle, Hampshire's reply has reached 50 without loss as Michael Carberry and Jimmy Adams negate the efforts of the Middlesex seamers without alarm so far.

  14. wicket

WICKET Trescothick (lbw b Porter) 5published at 14:17 British Summer Time 15 April 2017

    Somerset 209 & 11-1 v Essex 129

    Jamie PorterImage source, Rex Features

Marcus Trescothick is not impressed! The former Somerset captain is trapped in front by Jamie Porter and the Essex players' appeals are met with the umpire's finger being raised.

It may have been a tad high but there are no reviews in county cricket and Somerset have lost their first wicket.

  15. Lancashire pass 400published at 14:15 British Summer Time 15 April 2017

    Surrey v Lancashire 402-7

Lancashire's first innings keeps on rolling at The Oval as they go past 400.

It's come just too late to snatch the fifth batting bonus point though, but I don't think they'll be too bothered seeing as they were 122-6 this time yesterday.

Shivnarine Chanderpaul is moving towards another landmark of his own on 143.

  17. Sussex pass 100 but lose Wrightpublished at 14:09 British Summer Time 15 April 2017

    Kent 304 v Sussex 115-6

    Matt ColesImage source, Rex Features

Sussex continue to struggle at Hove against Kent as Luke Wright becomes Matt Coles second victim in the innings as he is caught behind for an attacking 29.

The hosts still need another 39 runs to avoid the dreaded follow on.

  18. Pattinson leads Notts past 200published at 14:01 British Summer Time 15 April 2017

    Durham 162 v Nottinghamshire 202-7

    James PattinsonImage source, Rex Features

James Pattinson has helped Nottinghamshire earn their first batting bonus point of the innings as he caresses Chris Rushworth to the boundary for four.

The visitors lead is up to 40 now at Chester-le-Street.

  19. wicket

WICKET Zaidi (c Davies b Leach) 23published at 13:55 British Summer Time 15 April 2017

    Somerset 209 v Essex 129

    Leach wicketImage source, Rex Features

Ashar Zaidi's resistance has come to an end as he is caught behind off Jack Leach.

Former England captain Alastair Cook made 52 but the visitors lost 8-69 in a little over a session today to be bowled out for a poor 129, handing Somerset an 80-run first innings lead at Taunton.

It's going to take some exceptional bowling for Essex to get back into this match.

  20. wicket

    WICKET Wagner (c Davies b J Overton) 5published at 13:49 British Summer Time 15 April 2017

    Somerset 209 v Essex 129-9

Yet another rather disappointing dismissal for Essex as Neil Wagner needlessly gives away his wicket.

Having sent Jamie Overton for a four through the covers, Wagner chases after a bouncer and only managers to hook the ball through to wicketkeeper Simon Davies.
