Time for another century to be celebrated for Lancashire at The Oval.

Shivnarine Chanderpaul's stoic effort at the crease for the Red Rose alongside Jordan Clark (117 not out) has finally reached three figures after 213 balls and 15 fours.

A superb effort from these two whose seventh-wicket partnership is now worth 197 runs.

50 for Alastair Cookpublished at 11:45 British Summer Time 15 April 2017

    Somerset 209 v Essex 79-3

Alastair Cook has been troubled plenty of times by the Somerset bowlers this morning but the England opener has done what he does best, score runs!

The 32-year-old reaches his half-century as a mis-field at short mid-off allows him to scamper through for a single. Cook will undoubtedly be looking to turn it in to a three figure score.

  5. The Hove stumps need a hugpublished at 11:41 British Summer Time 15 April 2017

    Sussex 32-3 v Kent 304

    The poor stumps...

They have taken an absolute battering in this match so far, with Wayne Parnell's dismissal of Harry Finch the fifth time a batsman has been bowled in a day and a bit.

It might be something to do with the pitch, which seems to have quite a lot of pace, bounce and movement in it.

Kent have got off to a rollicking start here at Hove, with Parnell also sending nightwatchman Ajmal Shahzad back to the pavillion.

Sussex's scorecard taking an ugly turn.

  6. Pep clearly not a cricket fan...published at 11:37 British Summer Time 15 April 2017

    Hampshire v Middlesex 301-7

Man City warm-upImage source, BBC Sport

Our man at the Ageas Bowl, Kevin Hand, has had his eye on the Manchester City squad who are staying at the ground's hotel before they play Southampton later.

Looks like boss Pep Guardiola isn't that keen on seeing Kyle Abbott try and prise a few more Middlesex wickets out as the champions go beyond 300.

  7. Parnell puts Kent on top at Hovepublished at 11:34 British Summer Time 15 April 2017

    Kent 304 v Sussex 27-3

Wayne Parnell has taken two early wickets for Kent this morning to put the visitors firmly in charge at Hove.

The South African bowled Harry Finch for 15 before having nightwatchman Ajmal Shahzad caught in slips for one and has figures of 7-4-6-2 so far.

  9. wicket

WICKET Wright (b Coad) 9published at 11:20 British Summer Time 15 April 2017

    Warwickshire 167-9 v Yorkshire

There is simply no stopping young Ben Coad! The 23-year-old completes his five-wicket haul as he bowls Chris Wright for nine.

Keith Barker is still battling away on 46 but Warwickshire are looking unlikely to reach the coveted 200 mark.

  10. Cook living dangerously early onpublished at 11:18 British Summer Time 15 April 2017

    Somerset 209 v Essex 68-3

    Cook cutImage source, Rex Features

Somerset's bowlers are all over Essex at Taunton this morning!

Alastair Cook played brilliantly in really testing conditions last night but he has already had a stroke of luck early on today.

The England opener slashed at a ball from spinner Jack Leach and it went just wide of Lewis Gregory at first slip. A second slip would have gobbled that up but instead the ball went to the boundary.

Leach has bowled 12 deliveries to Cook this morning and the batsman could well have been dismissed off four of those.

  11. wicket

WICKET Franklin (c Vince b Abbott) 19published at 11:16 British Summer Time 15 April 2017

    Hampshire v Middlesex 294-7

Another wicket down in Division One and Hampshire have an early breakthrough on the second morning.

Kyle Abbott finds the outside edge of Middlesex captain James Franklin and James Vince takes the catch in the slips.

Hampshire are a bowler down remember with Fidel Edwards nursing a hamstring injury while batsman Rilee Rossouw will bat down the order with an injured finger.

  12. wicket

    Somerset 209 v Essex 64-3

Cricket is a cruel maiden, from a brilliant century one week from teenager Dan Lawrence to a duck the next!

The Essex batsman is trapped plumb infront by Craig Overton and has to trudge off for an eight ball duck. Ravi Bopara joins Alastair Cook at the crease.

  13. 'Jofra Archer, remember the name'published at 11:11 British Summer Time 15 April 2017

    Sussex 21-1 v Kent 304

    Adam Whitty
    BBC Radio Kent at Hove

I wonder whether we may have seen a future international superstar yesterday?

Sussex seamer Jofra Archer's career best 7-67 was a majestic demonstration of fast bowling; he was was quick, nasty and accurate throughout his 23.3 overs.

Ajmal Shahzad certainly agrees with me...

His heroic bowling antics have set up a fascinating second day's play, with hosts Sussex beginning day two on 11-1, 293 behind Kent's first innings score.

Yesterday was a wonderful advert for Division Two cricket, with the sessions full of ups and downs, ebbs and flows, and some quality performances to boot.

Speaking to Kent batsmen, it's a really tricky wicket here at Hove, full of movement and bounce, so here's hoping for another excellent contest between bat and ball today.

  14. It's going to be a long day in Chester-le-Streetpublished at 11:08 British Summer Time 15 April 2017

    Durham 162 v Notts 98-5

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Newcastle at Chester-le-Street

It's a bright and breezy morning in Chester-le-Street but also rather chilly. With 20 overs lost to rain and bad light yesterday we are in for the long-haul because today and tomorrow will feature 104 overs each - weather permitting.

Tea will be at 3.55pm but the conditions do appear to be more batsman friendly today in the sunshine, compared to the dark and brooding skies of yesterday.

However, the well set Samit Patel edges the final ball of the first over the day from Chris Rushworth straight to Paul Collingwood in the slips. Just the start to the day the hosts would have wanted.

  15. Sunshine arrives at Edgbaston but hosts in troublepublished at 11:05 British Summer Time 15 April 2017

    Warwickshire 152-8 v Yorkshire

    Stephan Shemilt
    BBC Sport at Edgbaston

The morning sunshine in Birmingham has thumbed its nose at us, with a blanket of cloud covering Edgbaston as play begins. It seems unlikely that the weather will intervene as much as it did yesterday - there's enough blue sky in the distance for us to remain optimistic.

Warwickshire are in trouble - a slightly better situation than the deep, deep trouble of 77-7 just after lunch yesterday. At 152-8, they are relying on Keith Barker to get them to anything around 200.

Still, Barker thinks there's enough in the surface for them to trouble Yorkshire later in the day. He and the rest of the Bears attack must hope that really is the case.

  16. Special guests at the Ageas Bowlpublished at 11:03 British Summer Time 15 April 2017

    Middlesex 290-6 v Hampshire

It seems it's not just cricketers at the Ageas Bowl this morning.

The BBC's Henry Moeran has clocked some special visitors keeping an eye on the action....

Pep's Manchester City side make the short trip along the M27 to face Southampton in the Premier League later today - a match you can of course follow on BBC Sport.

  17. Let's playpublished at 11:00 British Summer Time 15 April 2017

It's 11:00 and time for play to resume. Thankfully no delayed starts for the time being.

Let's hope that continues through the day...
