  1. Gloucestershire unfazed after lunchpublished at 14:56 British Summer Time 14 April 2017

    Gloucestershire 152-2 v Leicestershire

    Bob Hunt
    BBC Radio Gloucestershire at Bristol

It's been a good afternoon session so far for the home side at Bristol, with Will Tavare and Graeme van Buuren adding fifty for the third wicket.

The ball isn't seaming around as much as it was in the morning and Van Buuren in particular is looking at ease having reached 50 off 75 balls, with some delicious drives through the covers.

  2. Slow and steady progress for Lancashirepublished at 14:53 British Summer Time 14 April 2017

    Lancashire 157-6 v Surrey

Shivnarine Chanderpaul is doing what he does best, digging in, putting away the bad balls and keeping Lancashire in the match against Surrey.

The former West Indian batsman is being ably supported by Jordan Clark, and their 35-run seventh-wicket stand is the second largest of the innings.

  3. wicket

WICKET Mitchell (c Cooke b Carey) 0published at 14:51 British Summer Time 14 April 2017

    Glamorgan 207 v Worcestershire 1-1

And after a lower-order flurry of runs, Glamorgan's bowlers have made the perfect start.

Daryl Mitchell falls without scoring to just the third ball of Worcestershire's reply.

Lukas Carey has a wicket to add to his quick-fire 39 earlier with the bat.

  4. Glamorgan dismissed for 207published at 14:51 British Summer Time 14 April 2017

    Glamorgan 207 v Worcestershire

    Peter Miller
    BBC Sport at Cardiff

A breezy 68-run stand between David Lloyd and Lukas Carey has given some much needed succor to the Glamorgan faithful.

The thick cloud cover that blanketed the ground for the first session lifted somewhat and batting has been easier as a result. Carey reached a career best score of 39 from 27 balls.

Finally, Glamorgan have something to smile about after a rocky start to the season, reaching 207 all out to claim their first batting bonus point of the year so far.

The 55 minutes after lunch brought 102 runs as runs flowed freely after Glamorgan were all at sea in the first session. This first innings total still seems a fair way short of a par total, but at least the home time have given themselves a chance.

  5. rain stops play

    Warwickshire 128-7 v Yorkshire

    Stephan Shemilt
    BBC Sport at Edgbaston

Rain at Warwickshire was cheered almost as loudly as the Keith Barker straight drive that came before it.

That brought up the 50 partnership between Barker and Jeetan Patel, who has decided that the long handle is the best way to get the home side out of their predicament.

His 35 has come from only 26 balls including six fours and a six.

With cloud covering the city in front of us, it's tricky to know how long the delay will last - or who was most pleased to get back into the dressing room.

    Sussex v Kent 103-2

Kent have made a steady start since returning from their luncheon.

Sussex's bowlers have bowled accurately, and with some real vigour, doing their best on what seems to be a batting friendly pitch.

But Sean Dickson (pictured), making his first start of the season after missing the win against Gloucestershire with injury, has batted with monumental patience.

He's faced 127 balls for his 38 not out, his partner at the crease, Sam Northeast, has also made a studious start in his unbeaten 16.

A partnership may be building, although now I've said that, I expect the commentators curse to come into its own pretty quickly.

  7. wicket

WICKET Davies (b Harmer) 12published at 14:41 British Summer Time 14 April 2017

    Somerset 130-5 v Essex

The match may only be 46 overs old but spin is already causing trouble at Taunton.

Simon Harmer gets the ball to turn and beat the outside edge of Steven Davies' bat to bowl the Somerset wicketkeeper for just 12.

A fairly even contest at Derby, where hosts Derbyshire have moved on to 131-4 against Northamptonshire.

Durham have made it past 100 at Chester-le-Street against Nottinghamshire, but the bowlers have been very much on top on the opening day with three wickets for England's Jake Ball so far in Durham's 110-9 and three for Australia's James Pattinson.

Glamorgan have some staying power in their lower order after a morning to forget. David Lloyd is standing firm to push them past 200 against Worcestershire in Cardiff.

Gloucestershire are continuing their patient progress with the bat against Leicestershire on 131-2.

Finally, at Hove Kent have just brought up their 100 for the loss of two wickets after electing to bat first against Sussex.

  9. rain stops play

    Warwickshire 128-7 v Yorkshire

The rain has finally come to Warwickshire's rescue at Edgbaston but it might be slightly too late to give them time to regroup and repair their first innings,

Jeetan Patel was enjoying himself before the unscheduled break, the spinner is unbeaten on 35, having hit Ben Coad for a huge six moments after being dropped off the young Yorkshire bowler.

  10. wicket

WICKET Wood (lbw b Pattinson) 11published at 14:29 British Summer Time 14 April 2017

    Durham 104-8 v Nottinghamshire

An England bowler being trapped lbw by an Australian bowler, that has a familiar ring to it!

Mark Wood becomes James Pattinson's second wicket of the innings as the returning Durham bowler is trapped lbw.

Not the start to the Championship season the hosts were looking for at Chester-Le-Street.

    Durham 103-7 v Nottinghamshire

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Newcastle at Chester-le-Street

The Durham mantra this season - post relegation - is "bounce back together" and how they need some bouncebackability now as they struggle on 103-7.

Just after lunch Jake Ball was on a hat-trick after seeing off Paul Collingwood, leg before for eight and Ryan Pringle first ball, as he was caught behind.

Although Stuart Poynter survived the hat-trick ball, Durham were rattled and moments later Harry Gurney cashed-in as he had Paul Coughlin caught behind for three.

Durham's lowest score v Nottinghamshire was 93 all out here in 2004. Thankfully that record remains in tact.

I had lunch amongst the Warwickshire members. The murmurings included "don't look at it", "are we surviving" and "we only got 91 last week". Then Rikki Clarke got out.

It's probably best for any man with a Bear on his chest not to enter the pavilion looking for adulation.

As for Yorkshire, with this sort of hospitality, they'll be expecting Easter eggs on Sunday morning. Of the seven wickets to fall, three have been gifted.

  13. dropped catch

Coad misses out on a fifth wicketpublished at 14:20 British Summer Time 14 April 2017

    Warwickshire 103-7 v Yorkshire

Ben Coad misses out on a five-wicket haul as Jeetan Patel edges behind to Adam Lyth at third slip who shells the regulation catch.

The New Zealand spinner is currently 25 off 20 balls and is Warwickshire's top scorer of the innings.

How crucial will that drop be?

  14. wicket

    Surrey v Lancashire 122-6

Gareth Batty had an eventful winter as he found himself hauled back into England duty in Bangladesh and India but this time the Surrey captain is on hand to break a Lancashire rearguard after lunch.

Ryan McLaren is trapped leg before for 28 after he and Shiv Chanderpaul had added 55 for the sixth wicket.

    Middlesex 108-1 v Hampshire

There has been little action after lunch at the Ageas Bowl, as Middlesex passed 100, with Sam Robson hitting his 11th four of his innings to move on to 65.

Stevie Eskinazi is ticking along nicely at the other end, having reached 30.

  16. wicket

WICKET Hildreth (c Bopara b Porter) 36published at 14:13 British Summer Time 14 April 2017

    Somerset 112-4 v Essex

Two quick wickets after lunch for Essex sees them keep Somerset in check at Taunton.

James Hildreth mistimes a pull shot off Jamie Porter into the hands of the waiting Ravi Bopara at fine leg.

  17. Record breaking?published at 14:12 British Summer Time 14 April 2017

    Durham 75-7 v Nottinghamshire

They won't want to, but Durham could be in line to set a new record....

  18. No further alarms for Lancashirepublished at 14:07 British Summer Time 14 April 2017

    Lancashire 117-5 v Surrey

Shivnarine Chanderpaul and Ryan McLaren have shared a 50-run partnership to move them on to 117-5 as they help to rebuild Lancashire's shaky first innings.

Surrey's Mark Footit (3-37) continues to look the most likely bowler to make another breakthrough.

  19. Warwickshire lose a seventh wicketpublished at 14:01 British Summer Time 14 April 2017

    Warwickshire 77-7 v Yorkshire

    Ben CoadImage source, Getty Images

Ben Coad has a fourth wicket for Yorkshire as Rikki Clarke, who made six off 47 balls, falls lbw.

The hosts are in danger of being bowled out for less than the 91 they made in their first innings against Surrey at The Oval last week.

  20. wicket

WICKET Elgar (st Wheater b Zaidi) 34published at 13:59 British Summer Time 14 April 2017

    Somerset 108-3 v Essex

Essex back in the wickets after lunch at Taunton as Dean Elgar tries to hit Ashar Zaidi down the ground, but misses.

Adam Wheater is on hand to remove the bails and the South Africa opener is on his way for 34.
