WICKET Jennings (b Pattinson) 28published at 12:42 British Summer Time 14 April 2017

    Durham 55-3 v Nottinghamshire

In an Ashes years an England opener being bowled by an Australian paceman always sends a shiver down down the back!

It is not great news for Durham either as James Pattinson sends Keaton Jennings' off stump flying as the hosts lose their third wicket of the morning session.

  2. First wicket for Northantspublished at 12:42 British Summer Time 14 April 2017

    Derbyshire 65-1 v Northamptonshire

    Dave Fletcher
    BBC Radio Derby Sport

Breakthough for Northamptonshire as Ben Sanderson, who has bowled well in the opening session, has Luis Reece caught at slip Rory Kleinveldt.

Reece, on his Derbyshire debut, made 19 and put on 62 for the first wicket with skipper Billy Goldeman.

The floodlights remain on at the 3aaa County Ground, although the skies are brightening.

  4. And another one down at The Oval...published at 12:39 British Summer Time 14 April 2017

    Surrey v Lancashire 67-5

There's no shortage of action south of the river in London in this morning session.

No sooner has Dane Vilas arrived at the crease for Lancashire and got off the mark with a first-ball four, he's on his way and trapped leg before by yep, that man Mark Footitt again.

  5. wicket

WICKET Bell (c Hodd b Patterson) 11published at 12:36 British Summer Time 14 April 2017

    Warwickshire 65-5 v Yorkshire

Steven Patterson gets in on the wicket action for Yorkshire as Ian Bell's attempted cover drive ends in the former England batsman being caught behind.

The hosts may well be praying for rain and an early lunch at Edgbaston to stop the visitors' bowlers from inflicting any further damage to the Warwickshire batting line up!

  6. wicket

WICKET Livingstone (c Stoneman b Footitt) 16published at 12:35 British Summer Time 14 April 2017

    Surrey v Lancashire 63-4

Lancashire captain Liam Livingstone might be regretting his decision to toss the coin and elect to bat earlier.

He's the fourth man to fall for the visitors at the Oval before lunch and Mark Footitt has two wickets to his name now with Mark Stoneman taking the catch.

South African Dane Vilas is the new man in.

  7. Warwickshire on the slidepublished at 12:33 British Summer Time 14 April 2017

    Warwickshire 65-4 v Yorkshire

    Stephan Shemilt
    BBC Sport at Edgbaston

Ashley Giles has entered the commentary box and seen three wickets fall. "Not ideal", says the sport director, but his side may not have done a great deal wrong.

Ben Coad, who can't stop taking wickets, has nibbled the ball about and Sam Hain's lbw to Tim Bresnan looked a little on the high side.

Warwickshire, so often reliant on Jonathan Trott and Ian Bell, need the latter to dig them out of a hole.

He was in the wickets not long ago for Hampshire, but sadly for home fans, Fidel Edwards is now on his way off the park....

  9. wicket

Tom Abell, the man tipped to take over the captaincy reigns from Marcus Trescothick, is headed back to the pavilion having scored just one run.

The batsman was the architect of his own downfall as he edges a drive off Ravi Bopara to Alastair Cook at first slip. The Essex pair are working well together!

  10. Surrey maintain controlpublished at 12:27 British Summer Time 14 April 2017

    Surrey v Lancashire 58-3

It's very much been Surrey's morning against Lancashire at the Oval as they've picked up from where they left off after their comprehensive opening week win against Warwickshire.

Mark Footitt is in the wickets again after his devastating first-innings spell last week and accounted for Alex Davies with a leg before.

Liam Livingstone and Shivnarine Chanderpaul now tasked with guiding Lancashire through to lunch without any more damage.

  11. wicket

WICKET Hain (lbw Bresnan) 1published at 12:24 British Summer Time 14 April 2017

    Warwickshire 55-4 v Yorkshire

Tim Bresnan ruins any thoughts Ben Coad had claiming all ten wickets as he traps Sam Hain in front for just a single.

Warwickshire are in danger of being skittled out cheaply for a second week on the bounce.

  12. Glamorgan in strife in Cardiffpublished at 12:20 British Summer Time 14 April 2017

    Glamorgan 68-5 v Worcestershire

    Nick Webb
    BBC Radio Wales at Cardiff

Worcestershire dominated the opening stages against Glamorgan as they reduced the home side to 46-5 at one stage.

There were two wickets each for captain Joe Leach and tall Aussie paceman John Hastings, on his Championship debut for the visitors.

Leach's delivery to Colin Ingram was a particular brute as the South African edged one which got up off a length.

Chris Cooke's run-out by a Tom Fell's direct hit, being sent back on a risky single, added to the damage.

It was a sinking feeling for home supporters after Glamorgan crashed to 26-6 at Northampton on the opening morning last week.

  13. wicket

WICKET Trescothick (c Cook b Bopara) 26published at 12:17 British Summer Time 14 April 2017

    Somerset 52-1 v Essex

Wicket time at Taunton and Essex have a breakthrough after a tricky opening hour with the ball.

Marcus Trescothick is dismissed as he edges Ravi Bopara through to former England captain Alastair Cook with a two-handed low catch at first slip.

  14. wicket

WICKET Trott (lbw b Coad) 13published at 12:14 British Summer Time 14 April 2017

    Warwickshire 52-3 v Yorkshire

Another bites the dust! Ben Coad is continuing on from his excellent first innings spell against Hampshire last week, as he picks up his third Warwickshire scalp.

Jonathan Trott is trapped absolutely plumb in front by the Yorkshire paceman, who has 3-12 from his eight overs today.

  15. Dark skies, but runs flowingpublished at 12:14 British Summer Time 14 April 2017

    Derbyshire 46-0 v Northamptonshire

    Alex Winter
    BBC Radio Northampton at Derby

It looked an easy decision for Alex Wakely to send Derbyshire in this morning and there has been a little help for the bowlers under laden skies and with the floodlights on.

But the wicket appears to be playing rather easy-paced and the openers, Billy Godleman and Luis Reece on debut after his winter move from Lancashire, have been relatively comfortable.

Ben Sanderson has asked the most questions in a probing six-over spell, causing Godleman in particular a few nervy moments but so far, it's a steady start to what Derbyshire folk will be hoping will be a new era for the county after the travails for 2016.

  16. Warwickshire's Sport Director, Ashley Giles, on air at Edgbastonpublished at 12:10 British Summer Time 14 April 2017

    Warwickshire 52-2 v Yorkshire

Perhaps Ashley Giles can explain what exactly a Sport Director is...which his the former England spinners new title at Warwickshire is now - as opposed to just a regular head coach.

    Confused? Us too!

  17. wicket

WICKET Gubbins (c Rossouw b Edwards) 13published at 12:06 British Summer Time 14 April 2017

    Hampshire v Middlesex 45-1

In the wickets at the Ageas Bowl for the first time today as Middlesex lose Nick Gubbins to a smart piece of bowling from Fidel Edwards.

The West Indian seam bowler entices him into a drive that finds an edge and Rilee Rossouw makes a neat catch in the slip cordon.

  18. Tough going in Chester-le-Streetpublished at 12:05 British Summer Time 14 April 2017

    Durham 42-1 v Nottinghamshire

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Newcastle at Chester-le-Street

It's 4,227 days since Durham last took part in a match in the second division, but there's a decent crowd here despite relegation. It's a fiver to get in.

Sadly, anyone who came to see South African Steve Cook make his debut had to be here quick because he was out for two inside the first three overs, clipping an attempted leave behind from a Jake Ball delivery.

With rain a threat and runs tough to come by, Durham are 42-1 after 12 overs.

  19. wicket

WICKET Mellor (c Hodd b Coad) 13published at 12:01 British Summer Time 14 April 2017

    Warwickshire 47-2 v Yorkshire

Ben Coad has a second for Yorkshire as Alex Mellor tickles the 23-year-old behind to Andrew Hodd for 13.

Ian Bell joins Jonathan Trott at the crease, as we get another trip down memory lane to the 2013 Ashes.

  20. Division Two round uppublished at 12:01 British Summer Time 14 April 2017

    Glamorgan collapse again

Joe Leach narrowly missed out on a hat-trick earlier as Glamorgan's Nick Selman first edged the Worcestershire pace bowler behind before Colin Ingram was caught for a golden duck.

Aneurin Donald survived the hat-trick ball only to be bowled by Worcestershire debutant John Hastings for two to leave and then Chris Cooke was run out for just five to leave the hosts in trouble at 46-5 in Cardiff.

Elsewhere in Division Two, Kent are 28-1 at Hove after 12 overs as Jofra Archer bowled Daniel Bell-Drummond for 13. Derbyshire are ticking along nicely, having reach 39-0 against Northants.

Gloucestershire are also making hay in the sun with Cameron Bancroft having hit seven fours already this morning as the hosts race to 52-0 from 14 overs against Leicestershire.

And, after the early loss of Stephen Cook and a brief rain delay there have been no more alarms for Durham, who are 26-1 against Nottinghamshire - with England opener Keaton Jennings unbeaten on 18.
