WICKET Edwards (b Bresnan) 6published at 13:56 British Summer Time 8 April 2017

    Yorkshire 273 v Hampshire 141

Hampshire are all out. Tim Bresnan has his fourth of the afternoon - to follow Ben Coad's six - with Fidel Edwards the last to go, losing his stumps, after facing four dots.

Well batted Lewis McManus, who finishes 41 not out, after guiding the tail past the follow-on.

Yorkshire have a very healthy first-innings lead of 132. They'll sure fancy batting themselves into complete dominance in the sunshine at Headingley.

Nottinghamshire opener Jake Libby has joined BBC Radio Nottingham's Dave Bracegirdle and BBC Radio Leicester's Richard Rae in the commentary box at Grace Road.

And he'll be liking what he's seeing from his side at the moment - Notts are 142-4 with Samit Patel and Riki Wessels going along nicely.

  3. wicket

WICKET Wheater (lbw b Parry) 1published at 13:50 British Summer Time 8 April 2017

    Essex 99-6 v Lancashire 319

Essex are in real trouble now as canny left-armer Stephen Parry strikes straight after lunch to remove former Hampshire wicketkeeper Adam Wheater.

It's textbook stuff, too - the drift taking the ball into Wheater's front pad.

WICKET Sibley (c Patel b Wright) 34published at 13:47 British Summer Time 8 April 2017

    Surrey 405-5 v Warwickshire

Dominic Sibley's patient stay at the crease is ended as Chris Wright's perseverance pays off.

It might seem like a thankless task for Warwickshire's bowlers today, but Sam Curran is out to join Ben Foakes after a catch from Jeetan Patel at mid-wicket.

  5. wicket

WICKET Wheal (b Bresnan) 18published at 13:44 British Summer Time 8 April 2017

    Yorkshire 273 v Hampshire 127-9

The good news for Hampshire is they have avoided the follow-on. The bad news is that two balls later their useful 52-run 9th-wicket partnership has been ended.

Tim Bresnan, playing party-pooper once again, finds a way through Wheal to claim his third wicket of the day.

  7. Last minute wicket spoils the Glos partypublished at 13:42 British Summer Time 8 April 2017

    Kent 298 v Gloucestershire 89-3

    Adam Whitty
    BBC Radio Kent

And it was going so well for Gloucestershire...

Chris Dent and Will Tavare have steadied the ship after some tricky bowling from Kent's seamers put them under pressure during the morning season.

Dent reahed his fifty, and the pair put on a half-century partnership after losing nightwatchman Liam Norwell early on.

But Will Tavare was bowled round his legs by Will Gidman with three balls of the session remaining for 13.

That meant an otherwise wonderful morning for Gloucestershire had been slightly soured, and sets us up wonderfully for this afternoon session.

  8. Exemplary display from Lancspublished at 13:40 British Summer Time 8 April 2017

    Essex 97-5 v Lancashire 319

    Nick Gledhill
    BBC Essex

Essex have had a taste this morning of life against Division One attacks.

It was an exemplary display of line and length from Lancashire's seamers with Jimmy Anderson's outswinger to dismiss Tom Westley the highlight.

For Essex only Dan Lawrence showed any fluency but he has gone for 37. A difficult afternoon awaits.

  10. Plenty to play forpublished at 13:32 British Summer Time 8 April 2017

Thanks Gary. So, we're in just the fifth session of the opening round of fixtures and it's already make or break stuff for a few sides.

Glamorgan are nearing their last legs against Northants, while Hampshire have left it to their lower order to fight past the follow-on at Headingley.

Meanwhile, both Essex and Nottinghamshire face middle order re-building tasks. Should be an interesting afternoon.

  13. Tykes on top at Headingleypublished at 13:23 British Summer Time 8 April 2017

    Yorkshire 273 v Hampshire 123-8

    Kevan James
    Sport Presenter, BBC Radio Solent

Three wickets for Yorkshire in the first 45 minutes of the session had everyone debating whether the follow-on of 124 might be enforced.

But Lewis McManus and Brad Wheal, in a partnership of 48 runs, have brought Hampshire to within two runs of the target with some sensible batting.

The sun is out and apart from one or two balls that have kept low, the Headingley pitch is very easy paced.

The Tykes are well on top to build a sizeable lead when they come to bat again this afternoon.

  14. Northants set for a few days offpublished at 13:17 British Summer Time 8 April 2017

    Northants 268-6 v Glamorgan 101 & 32-3 - Lunch

    Nick Webb
    BBC Radio Wales

Northants are heading for a third successive huge win over Glamorgan after reducing the visitors to 32-3 at lunch, still 177 runs behind.

Ben Sanderson had his revenge for being hit on the head while batting as he had Jacques Rudolph caught behind for 21, trying to pull, before David Lloyd edged to slip for a dreaded pair.

Nick Selman managed to avoid the same fate by driving Rory Kleinveldt for four only to play on to the next ball.

Northants look set to enjoy an unexpected couple of days off, far more than Glamorgan.

  15. Good morning for Surreypublished at 13:11 British Summer Time 8 April 2017

    Surrey 405-4 v Warwickshire - Lunch

    Mark Church
    BBC Radio London commentator

A very good morning for Surrey as they continue to bat under the blue skies of London. Kumar Sangakkara and Dominic Sibley added 55 until Sangakkara fell to Oliver Hannon-Dalby for a graceful 71.

Sibley has looked rock solid and once again Surrey looked booked in to bat all afternoon.

    Yorkshire 273 v Hampshire 123-8

Well batted Lewis McManus and Brad Wheal. The Hampshire youngsters have seen their side through to lunch with an unbroken ninth-wicket stand of 48.

Hants need one more run after the interval to avoid the follow-on.

WICKET Lawrence (c Livingstone b Parry) 37published at 13:00 British Summer Time 8 April 2017

    Essex 91-5 v Lancashire 319

That's a big wicket for Lancashire on the stroke of lunch.

Dan Lawrence pushes at one from spinner Stephen Parry and is caught by Liam Livingstone.

Essex still have batting left in Adam Wheater and skipper Ryan ten Doeschate, but they're in all sorts of trouble now.

I hope BBC commentators Alex Winter and Nick Webb have made some plans for this afternoon in Northampton.

Glamorgan are in all sorts of trouble again with Nicholas Selman and David Lloyd both going in the space of five balls.

Meanwhile at Canterbury, Gloucestershire opener Chris Dent has just passed his half-century to help his side to 89-2.
