  1. 400 up for Surreypublished at 12:50 British Summer Time 8 April 2017

    Surrey 402-4 v Warwickshire

Kumar Sangakkara may be gone, but Surrey are still running away with things at The Oval.

They pass 400, but no maximum batting bonus points because they got there in more than 110 overs.

Another one of county cricket's most promising batsmen, Dom Sibley, is 17 away from his half-century.

  2. Postpublished at 12:47 British Summer Time 8 April 2017

    Essex 86-4 v Lancashire 319

Essex batsman Dan Lawrence is just clicking into gear.

The 19-year-old hits Ryan McClaren for a couple of boundaries to move to 32.

Ravi Bopara is blocking everything in sight - he's five off 39.

15 minutes to go until lunch.

  3. Watch Rudolph's wicketpublished at 12:44 British Summer Time 8 April 2017

    Northants 310 v Glamorgan 101 & 21-1

Oh dear - it's a bit of a messy end for Glamorgan opener Jacques Rudolph.

  4. Rudolph gonepublished at 12:40 British Summer Time 8 April 2017

    Northants 310 v Glamorgan 101 & 21-1

Ah, now Glamorgan opener Jacques Rudolph is out.

The South African nicks Ben Sanderson behind, trying to pull a long-hop. Glamorgan are still plenty behind.

  5. Division Two updatepublished at 12:38 British Summer Time 8 April 2017

Glamorgan are off to a better start in their second innings against Northants reaching 21-0. Skipper Jacques Rudolph has all the runs so far.

It's even-stevens at Grace Road with Notts 107-4 in reply to Leicestershire's 251 all out.

Gloucestershire opener Chris Dent is nearing a half-century - the left-hander is unbeaten on 40, with the visitors 69-2 against Kent.

  6. 100 up for Hampshirepublished at 12:30 British Summer Time 8 April 2017

    Yorkshire 273 v Hampshire 101-8

Hampshire are sneaking up towards the 124 they need to avoid the follow-on at Headingley.

With the sun beating down, I'm not even sure Yorkshire would enforce it.

Lewis McManus holds the key for Hants - the young wicketkeeper, who has a first-class best of 132, is on 17.

  7. 'Vintage James Anderson'published at 12:24 British Summer Time 8 April 2017

    Essex 73-4 v Lancashire 319

    Scott Read
    BBC Radio Lancashire

Another good crowd in at Chelmsford this morning and they've been witness to some vintage James Anderson.

Bowling from the Hayes Close end the England man beat the bat on a number of occasions before eventually striking.

His dismissal of Tom Westley was classic Anderson as he got the ball to do just enough, shaping away from the right-hand batsman to take the outside edge.

It's been a testing morning session for the newly-promoted side, who are now hoping for a partnership between Dan Lawrence and Ravi Bopara.

    WICKET Sangakkara (lbw b Hannon-Dalby) 71published at 12:17 British Summer Time 8 April 2017

    Surrey 378-4 v Warwickshire

There will be no 57th first-class century for Kumar Sangakkara today.

The 39-year-old is trapped lbw by Warwickshire fast bowler Oliver Hannon-Dalby for 71.

But he's continued the good work of Mark Stoneman yesterday and Surrey now look set for a mammoth first-innings total.

That's Hannon-Dalby's 100th first-class wicket by the way - not a bad scalp to reach the milestone!

  9. Glamorgan to bat againpublished at 12:14 British Summer Time 8 April 2017

    Northants 310 v Glamorgan 101

    Nick Webb
    BBC Radio Wales

Northants have extended their first innings lead past the 200 mark and claimed a third batting point thanks to last man Ben Sanderson.

The 28-year-old drove Marchant de Lange for four to bring up the 300 before being hit on the head ducking into a short delivery.

Harry Podmore's first ball of the day then finished the home innings as Sanderson, on 12,  edged him to an acrobatic Nick Selman at slip.

Glamorgan will now bat again - and try to make a better fist of it than their first effort.

  10. Northants all outpublished at 12:13 British Summer Time 8 April 2017

    Northants 310 v Glamorgan 101

    Alex Winter
    BBC Radio Northampton sport

It was a very poor opening day for Glamorgan yesterday and they would have arrived this morning fearing further punishment at the hands of Rory Kleinveldt.

But they have suffered not with Kleinveldt just adding 15 to his overnight total.

It's been good work from the bowlers, taking just over an hour to remove the final four Northants wickets, but they are still facing a first-innings deficit of 209.

WICKET Hales (b Raine) 7published at 12:11 British Summer Time 8 April 2017

    Leicestershire 251 v Notts 91-4

    BOWLED 'IM!

England one-day opener Alex Hales departs cheaply for Notts courtesy of an inside edge onto his stumps.

It's a second wicket for Leicestershire seamer Ben Raine. Samit Patel joins Riki Wessels at the crease.

  12. Surrey continue to make haypublished at 12:09 British Summer Time 8 April 2017

    Surrey 368-3 v Warwickshire

I wonder how Warwickshire captain Ian Bell slept last night, knowing he asked Surrey to bat first?

It isn't looking any more rosy for the Bears today. No wickets in the first hour and Kumar Sangakkara (70 not out) and Dom Sibley (21 not out) are going along swimmingly.

And it's hot at The Oval. Blazing in fact.

  13. Watch Anderson's wicketpublished at 12:05 British Summer Time 8 April 2017

    Essex 62-4 v Lancashire 319

It really was an absolute jaffa from James Anderson to remove Essex batsman Tom Westley...

  14. Gloucestershire struggle in the sunshinepublished at 11:59 British Summer Time 8 April 2017

    Kent 298 v Gloucestershire 34-2

    Adam Whitty
    BBC Radio Kent

Will Tavare and Chris Dent, Gloucestershire's two men in the middle, are really finding it tough this morning.

James Harris and Darren Stevens have been bowling well, and got the early wicket of nighwatchman Liam Norwell for 13.

There have been plenty of plays and misses, and lot of ooohs and ahhhs from the Kent slips behind the stumps, but they are still out there, and trying to build an innings to reply to Kent's 298.

James Anderson definitely deserved his wicket this morning. It's been a superb spell from the 34-year-old.

  17. wicket

WICKET Berg (c Lyth b Bresnan) 0published at 11:52 British Summer Time 8 April 2017

    Yorkshire 273 v Hampshire 76-8

Tim Bresnan has two in the over.

Hampshire all-rounder Gareth Berg edges him into the safe mits of Adam Lyth at slip.

It's a nightmare start to the season for Hampshire's batsmen.

  18. wicket

WICKET Westley (c Davies b Anderson) 15published at 11:49 British Summer Time 8 April 2017

    Essex 53-4 v Lancashire 319

That's an absolute beauty from James Anderson.

England's record Test wicket-taker has been swinging it all morning and this time Tom Westley feathers one through to Alex Davies.

He deserved that. Meanwhile at Headingley...

  19. wicket

WICKET Dawson (lbw b Bresnan) 9published at 11:46 British Summer Time 8 April 2017

    Yorkshire 273 v Hants 75-7

Boo, Tim, boo! You've just denied Ben Coad the chance of getting all 10 wickets.

Bresnan pins Liam Dawson lbw to leave Hampshire even deeper in the mire.

The visitors still need 48 to avoid the follow on.

  20. wicket

WICKET Chopra (c Davies b Jarvis) 15published at 11:44 British Summer Time 8 April 2017

    Essex 49-3 v Lancashire 319

Goodness me, that's poor from Varun Chopra.

The former Warwickshire skipper, in his first Championship innings back in an Essex shirt, plays a flat-footed cut shot and nicks Kyle Jarvis through to the wicketkeeper.

One of county cricket's most promising batsmen, Dan Lawrence, is the new man in.
