You're doing well in response to our plea for names for a General Election cricket XI. Just to focus your minds a bit further, can you come up with any opening bats or wicketkeepers?

  2. wicket

    WICKET Ambrose (c Sangakkara b T Curran) 85published at 14:36 British Summer Time 24 April 2017

    Warwickshire 332 & 303-7 (92.3 overs) v Surrey 437

Two wickets in two overs for Tom Curran as another superb catch from Kumar Sangakkara gets rid of Tim Ambrose, who made a brilliant 85.

If Surrey can mop up the tail quickly, they may well fancy having a go at knocking off 200 from 40 or so overs.

  3. Yorkshire pair defy Hants attackpublished at 14:33 British Summer Time 24 April 2017

    Hampshire 455 v Yorkshire 231 & 293-5 (102 overs)

Yorkshire have added only 17 runs since lunch as Hampshire's seam bowlers strain every sinew to try and pick up a wicket. Gary Ballance has moved on to 133, and Tim Bresnan has 14, but the visitors are only 69 in front and there are 55 overs left in the day.

  4. wicket

    WICKET Clarke (c Borthwick b T Curran) 27published at 14:30 British Summer Time 24 April 2017

    Warwickshire 332 & 302-6 (92.3 overs) v Surrey 437

I remain a curse to all County Championship batsmen out....consider yourselves warned!

Just after praising Rikki Clarke and Tim Ambrose the former is dismissed by a sharp catch from Scott Borthwick in the slips.

It still seems like the draw is now the most probable result.

  5. Foxes look to bowlerspublished at 14:29 British Summer Time 24 April 2017

    Leicestershire 420 & 360-6 dec v Glamorgan 426

    Nick Webb
    BBC Wales Sport

Leicestershire delayed their declaration until 2.20 after waiting for Mark Pettini to reach a first century for the county at Grace Road.

Pettini's hundred took 163 balls and included 10 fours and he celebrated with a six.

A target of 355 in 57 overs probably won't interest Glamorgan too much and the chances of a home victory may be reduced, compared to an earlier declaration.

  6. wicket

    WICKET Wheater (c Malan b Roland-Jones) 0published at 14:25 British Summer Time 24 April 2017

    Middlesex 507-7 dec & 239-3 dec v Essex 295 & 104-5 (46.4 overs) - target 452

Adam Wheater can't replicate his heroics from the first innings as the wicketkeeper is caught at third slip by Dawid Malan off Toby Roland-Jones for and 11-ball duck.

Essex captain Ryan ten Doeschate joins Ravi Bopara at the crease. This pair are probably the last line of defence for the visitors at Lord's.

There are still 53 overs left for the home side to claim the remaining five wickets for victory but rain is on its way!

  7. Warwickshire edging close to survivalpublished at 14:24 British Summer Time 24 April 2017

    Warwickshire 332 & 301-5 (92 overs) v Surrey 437

Tim Ambrose (83 not out) and Rikki Clarke (27 not out) are edging Warwickshire closer to a draw at Edgbaston as the move past 300.

The home side have carved out a well earned 196-run lead and with five second-innings wickets remaining alongside just 51 overs left in the day, they must be banking on a draw there now.

  8. Glos slump against Durhampublished at 14:23 British Summer Time 24 April 2017

    Gloucestershire 303 & 264-8 (94 overs) v Durham 419

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Newcastle

I am not sure what the Durham players had for lunch but they have turned this game on its head in the overs after the break. It was just a 16-ball run of play that saw Gloucestershire lose Mustard, Dent, Miles and Taylor, while adding just two runs.

Mustard went lbw to Onions for 15 and was quickly followed by Dent for 101, caught by Collingwood at first slip after being dropped earlier on 95 by Richardson.

Richardson then atoned with a sharp catch at second slip to see off Miles for a pair as the batsman edged his sixth delivery to the cordon - and as that was being written in the scorebook, Taylor went for 2, lbw to Rushworth. The lead a narrow 139.

  9. 100 runs

Pettini reaches his centurypublished at 14:15 British Summer Time 24 April 2017

    Leciestershire 420 & 403-6 (86 overs) v Glamorgan 426

Mark Pettini has batted Leicestershire to a big lead at Grace Road and reaches his hundred with a two off Michael Hogan - having hit 10 fours in his 164-ball innings.

The hosts are ahead by 340 runs and there are only 60 overs left in the day.

  10. Hampshire strive for breakthroughpublished at 14:12 British Summer Time 24 April 2017

    Hampshire 455 v Yorkshire 231 & 287-5 (96 overs)

This is tough, attritional cricket at the Ageas Bowl, the sort Yorkshire players reputedly enjoy. Kyle Abbott and Gareth Berg are giving Gary Ballance and Tim Bresnan very little to hit and the pressure is mounting. Yorkshire are only 63 ahead.

  11. wicket

WICKET Lawrence (c Voges b Finn) 15published at 14:10 British Summer Time 24 April 2017

    Middlesex 507-7 dec & 239-3 dec v Essex 295 & 104-4 (42.3 overs) - target 452

Another big breakthrough for Middlesex at Lord's as Dan Lawrence is caught at first slip by Adam Voges, after a bit of juggling, off Steven Finn.

Essex still have another 57.3 overs to survive but that's if the rain stays away and the light holds firm.

  12. wicket

WICKET Abell (c Davies b McLaren) 0published at 14:05 British Summer Time 24 April 2017

    Lancashire 109 & 463 v Somerset 278 & 38-2 (16.2 overs)

History repeats itself for Somerset skipper Tom Abell, who made 1 and 0 against Essex last week and now does the same at Old Trafford. His leg-glance is taken by Alex Davies and suddenly their target of 295 for victory looks a long way off.

  14. wicket

WICKET Dent (c Collingwood b Rushworth) 101published at 13:56 British Summer Time 24 April 2017

    Gloucestershire 303 & 253-6 (88.2 overs) v Durham 419

    Chris DentImage source, Getty Images

Chris Dent's excellent stay at the crease is over for Gloucestershire at Bristol as Paul Collingwood snaffles a good catch at slip off Chris Rushworth.

It's the second wicket to fall after lunch after Graham Onions had dismissed Phil Mustard lbw for 15. Durham may well be bowling themselves towards pushing for a victory.

The hosts are 139 runs ahead with 60 overs left in the day, weather permitting.

  15. dropped catch

Bresnan survives slip chancepublished at 13:53 British Summer Time 24 April 2017

    Hampshire 455 v Yorkshire 231 & 285-5 (91 overs)

Let-off for Tim Bresnan as he edges a ball from Kyle Abbott, but James Vince is unable to cling onto an awkward high chance at third slip. Yorkshire 61 in front.

  16. 14:05 restart at Edgbastonpublished at 13:52 British Summer Time 24 April 2017

    Warwickshire 332 & 280-5 (87 overs) v Surrey 437

Good news out of Edgbaston where play is due to restart at 14:05 BST.

10 overs were lost, so there are 56 overs left in the day.

  17. wicket

WICKET Elgar (lbw Jarvis) 8published at 13:46 British Summer Time 24 April 2017

    Lancashire 109 & 463 v Somerset 278 & 29-1 (11.2 overs)

    Kyle JarvisImage source, Rex Features

Game very much now on at Old Trafford, where Kyle Jarvis has got rid of Somerset's first-innings centurion Dean Elgar early after lunch. Another 266 are needed by the visitors as captain Tom Abell joins Marcus Trescothick.

Jarvis has now taken 122 Championship wickets since the start of the 2015 season.

  20. All eyes on the sky over Lord'spublished at 13:39 British Summer Time 24 April 2017

    Middlesex 507-7 dec & 239-3 dec v Essex 295 & 84-3 (34 overs) - target 452

    Kevin Hand
    BBC Radio London

All eyes remain on the skies over London as Essex have been reduced to 84-3 at lunch on the final day at Lord's.

Crucially, for Middlesex's hopes of victory, Alastair Cook has been removed by Ollie Rayner having been caught at short leg, while Tom Westley fell to a grubber from Toby Roland-Jones and the nature of the dismissal will be a great concern to the visitors.

A slight shower just after the start of play saw two overs knocked off the day's play and more rain is forecast to be heading this way. The light is also a big issue with the precedent set by the reading taken when an early close was declared on day one.
