  1. Ind 63-0published at 11 overs

A change of pace now for England, as spinner Dani Hazell comes on for a twirl. She sticks to a fuller length and Punam Raut pushes Smriti Mandhana to turn a casual single into a quick two. There's a big yelp from Hazell as she strikes Raut on the pad - there's DRS available for the first time in this tournament - but they opt against the review. She was quite far forward but that was probably a tad high.

  2. First six of the World Cuppublished at 11:11 British Summer Time 24 June 2017

Here's the first six of the match, slapped away by Smriti Mandhana. I particularly enjoyed the way she just stood back and watched it fly over the ropes.

  3. Ind 59-0published at 10 overs

    Sciver 3-1-18-0

That's a nasty full toss from Nat Sciver and Punam Raut gives it the treatment, leaning into a drive and turning her wrists to whack the ball away to the boundary. Captain Mithali Raj, on the sidelines, looks up briefly from her book to nod in approval at the shot. Nerves? What nerves? It's not getting in the way of Mithali's reading.

That single was the first time the batsmen have changed ends in this match.

  5. Ind 53-0published at 9 overs

    Mandhana 40, Raut 11

The steely look on Mithali Raj's face when she was asked that question was priceless. Ooh, that's close from Shrubsole, getting the ball to swing in to Punam Raut and the ball hammers into Sarah Taylor's gloves. This is clever bowling from Shrubsole, taking the pace off and firing down a cutter that Raut has a nibble at. A single brings Smriti Mandhana on strke, and she taps away a leg side delivery for four. That's the 50 partnership up too.

I thought it was disrespectful when India captain Mithali Raj was asked before the tournament, who her favourite male cricketer was - she replied by asking the reporter if he would have asked a male cricketer who his favourite female cricketer was. Good on her that she had the confidence to take the reporter on, whoever he was.

  7. Ind 48-0published at 8 overs

That's better from Nat Sciver. Fuller, nearly yorker length, and Smriti Mandhana is kept quiet. She's all angles and high elbows as she drives up towards the fielders. There's a round of applause from the Derby crowd as Sciver bowls England's first maiden.

You'll be able to watch in-play video clips throughout this Women's World Cup - here's Smriti Mandhana hitting Katherine Brunt for four fours in the early stages of this game.

  9. Ind 48-0published at 7 overs

Anya Shrubsole, a more bustling sort of bowler than Sciver, carries on serenely. Punam Raut hasn't been given much to hit and she plays an uppish sort of pull, the ball hanging in the air, but there's enough on it to go straight down the ground for four. That's the first boundary Shrubsole has conceded.

  10. New Zealand v Sri Lanka updatepublished at 10:56 British Summer Time 24 June 2017

It's a more sedate start from Sri Lanka in Bristol, where they're 28-0 after six overs against New Zealand, who seem to be getting through their overs marginally quicker than England.

  11. Ind 44-0published at 6 overs

    Mandhana 36, Raut 6

Nah. Short from Sciver and Smriti Mandhana obliges with another pull for four. That wasn't that short from Sciver but it doesn't have the pace on it to trouble the batter and that length is just sitting up, asking to be hit. The rest of the over is fuller and Mandhana is momentarily quietened.

That was unbelievable - she's hit that over wide mid-on, so she was quite early on it, and it's hit the boards.

  13. 6 runs

    Ind 38-0published at 5.1 overs

Nat Sciver has been called on - and Smriti Mandhana has tonked her first ball away for six! I say tonked - Mandhana doesn't have a shot that isn't elegant. It's easy for her to take a step back and just pull the ball over the ropes.

  15. Ind 32-0published at 5 overs

    Shrubsole 3-0-8-0

Shrubsole is applying the pressure at the other end, and it's because of the line she's got going. Full, straight and Punam Raut plays awkwardly across her pads. Heather Knight sticks her hands on her head as Raut topples over slightly while Sarah Taylor, up to the stumps, claps her hands in appreciation.

Katherine's lengths are too short again here, she needs to get Mandana trying to hit her down the ground. When she gets her line and length right, she could be on song. Katherine has always got a wicket in her, they won't be panicking yet.

  17. Ind 31-0published at 4 overs

    Raut 6, Mandhana 24

That's the third boundary of the over, Mandhana angling a drive that races away off the back foot for four. And the final ball of the over gets the same treatment! That's not good bowling - only one full delivery in the over - but Mandhana has timed the pants off those boundaries.

  18. Ind 23-0published at 3.4 overs

Short again from Brunt, and Smriti Mandhana duly responds with a lovely pull for four. She had plenty of time to just lean back and tonk that over the fielder's heads. Brunt, a fairly grouchy bowler at the best of times, is left even less impressed as a cut goes whizzing to the boundary. That made a cracking sound off the bat. Short isn't the way to go here.

Katherine's at her best when she's pitching it up and trying to knock those poles over. She'll be disappointed with that first over.

  20. Ind 15-0published at 3 overs

There's not a lot doing out there, given these are what you'd call good swinging conditions. Punam Raut leans into a tasty-looking drive as Anya Shrubsole fires down a slightly too full delivery for another boundary. Shrubsole looks up to the air in annoyance but keeps up that fuller length, and Raut responds by patting the ball away.
