Sarah Taylor will be disappointed with the shot she played today, but England will need a player like Beaumont to go on and get a big score for everyone else to bat around. Her natural game is to be aggressive but the team requires her to stay there and rotate the strike.

  2. Eng 143-4published at 32 overs

More minor gifts for England as Perry is wided three times in the over. Unlike the seamer. The extras column already reads 17 and there is little need for it from Australia, who are controlling this at the moment. The rest of the over is tight, though. England struggling to pierce the field at the moment.

I like what Australia have done today, they've changed it around and not been scared to take off a bowler after two overs.

  4. Eng 138-4published at 31 overs

    Beaumont 40, Wyatt 17

Another huge lbw shout, this time from a Schutt ball that is very full and smacks Wyatt on the boot. The umpire turns it down. Think there might have been an inside edge on it.

Schutt gives England a gift near the end of her over. Way wide outside leg and off for four wides. Healy had no chance behind the sticks.

  5. Watch Lanning pick up Sciver wicketpublished at 12:24 British Summer Time 9 July 2017

Opener Tammy Beaumont is trying to keep this innings together, while all others fall around her. This is how Natalie Sciver perished...

  6. Eng 129-4published at 30 overs

Ellyse Perry back into the attack from the Pavilion End. Big shout for lbw against Wyatt from the final ball but it was clearly going down. It is another typically tight over. Just the three runs off it. England need to up the rate.

Tammy is normally quite aggressive but she's really assessed the situation and batted nicely.

  8. Eng 126-4published at 29 overs

Megan Schutt, who dismissed Winfield earlier and has gone for just 15 from her five overs, returns. She is loose early on, though, going wide and sending the ball skipping past keeper Alyssa Healy, who is stood up, for four byes. Took a little kick off a green patch to be fair to Healy.

Hearts in mouths a moment later as Beaumont sets off for a single that was never there and has to dive to regain her ground ahead of the throw.

  9. Sciver slashes away for fourpublished at 12:14 British Summer Time 9 July 2017

Before she went back into the hutch Sciver was looking in good touch - this was her third and final four of the day...

  10. Eng 121-4published at 28 overs

Beams is proving a much trickier customer than her spin colleague. No boundaries off this over, which is tossed up to try and prompt a misjudged drive. England's pair milk it for four singles. Just ticking over in pursuit of another partnership.

You wouldn't put Wyatt down as a big hitter of the ball but she strikes it better than any of the England batters.

  12. 6 runs

    Eng 117-4published at 27 overs

    Beaumont 34, Wyatt 11

Only one of the four players who have struck a 2017 World Cup century remain. Tammy Beaumont is currently looking pretty solid. Dani Wyatt gets in on the action with a cut shot for four off Jonassen. She then clubs the first maximum down the ground. A fine blow. Not a bad start at all.

  13. Eng 106-4published at 26 overs

Cheers Kal. I wish I was joining the action with England in a better place. The hosts are struggling. One thing is for sure, we are not going to be seeing a score of 370+ today.

Beams is back to have a go at new batter Wyatt. England are on the back foot, metaphorically speaking. They squeeze three singles from the over.

  14. Eng 103-4published at 25 overs

Wyatt is the new batter in as she joins opener Beaumont, who is still there on 31. Wyatt almost goes without scoring, playing inside the line of Jonassen and is lucky not to edge behind.

So, we're halfway through the England innings and I will hand you over to Phil Dawkes to see you through the next 25.

That is massive. It is a lack of concentration. Sciver was being tentative with the lack of pace. Those two were the ones who could get England to 270-280. Can the rest of the order see England to a score?

  16. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 23.6 overs

    Sciver c Lanning b Villani 29 (Eng 102-4)

Another one gone. Just like Taylor, Sciver was looking in good nick but yet again it's a poor wicket to lose for England. Sciver tries to hit Villani over the top and lofts it up to Lanning at mid-off. Australia in control here.

  17. Eng 97-3published at 23 overs

Shot! Tammy Beaumont takes a couple of short steps forward and drives for four. A very decent over from England as the Beaumont and Sciver continue their sound understanding of how to run between the wicket.

  18. Eng 89-3published at 22 overs

Elyse Villani is the the sixth Aussie bowler to have a go. Wide, on the up, slow and Sciver strikes it square for four. Easiest boundary you're likely to see all day.

Meg Lanning is the best captain for me in this tournament She has very good plans. You like to see captains who take things on and try things.

  20. Eng 84-3published at 21 overs

    Beaumont 22, Sciver 19

Have you ever seen a fielding position like this before? Villani is situated behind the 'keeper but almost directly in line with her. She moves ever so slightly to an extremely fine leg. Beaumont likes the ramp shot, so we all know what is coming here. Yep, bouncer. Beaumont not interested.

    Innovative fielding, love it.
