  • Australia fall three runs short

  • Eng 259-8: Beaumont 49, Brunt 45*, Villani 3-42

  1. Not outpublished at 40.3 overs

    Eng 187-6

Yes. Healy has dropped the ball. She almost had it at one point but never had it under control before the ball drops to the turf. Good bowling from Gardner, but she is denied a wicket.

  2. Umpire reviewpublished at 40.3 overs

    Eng 187-6

Bizarre. The umpire's finger is up for a caught behind against Gunn, but the review is quickly requested by England. It looks like keeper Healy has dropped the ball.

  3. Eng 183-6published at 40 overs

Australia's boot is firmly pressed onto the neck of England and they are refusing to let up. Jonassen keeps it full and despite their best efforts to move the ball around, England are restricted to just three from the over.

Looking at this track, 250 would be the bare minimum. And England are unlikely to get that. Pressure on the bowlers.

  4. Eng 180-6published at 39 overs

That is a nice shot from Gunn, who rocks back and cuts Schutt. It is pulled back just before the rope, though. England run three to make it five from the over. 11 to go.

  5. Eng 175-6published at 38 overs

Big problems now for England. Jenny Gunn joins Brunt to try and push their team well beyond 200. There is precious little time to consolidate.

Jonassen has either bowled a delivery that has beautifully deceived Wyatt, or Wyatt has premeditated a shot and almost yorked herself. It was a really interesting shot, she played so well hitting the players down the ground but then decided to go across the line to a full length delivery.

  7. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 37.2 overs

    Wyatt b Jonassen 27 (Eng 174-6)

Awful shot. Just awful. Jonassen's ball is very full and Wyatt tries to sweep. The result is inevitable as the stumps are split. Another blow for England. They simply haven't been able to build any momentum.

England will be looking for 250 but will feel happier with 280, especially with having lost so many early on.

  9. Eng 173-5published at 37 overs

Ooh, lucky. Brunt swings hard and top-edges Schutt just wide of backward point. Some good running in the over, though. Adds five to the total.

England have gone with the thinking of just keep playing, don't go for it just because it is a power play. They will feel that if they manage to build a partnership they can kick on.

  11. Eng 168-5published at 36 overs

Katherine Brunt is the new batter an she begins with a convincing pull from one knee after Jonassen drags a ball short. Total gift.

  12. Latest from Lord'spublished at 12:51 British Summer Time 9 July 2017

England's men are collapsing like a deck of cards at Lord's. They've fallen from 139-1 to 181-6. Join Jamie Lillywhite for that one over here.

  13. Eng 163-5published at 35 overs

Boom! Wyatt takes the game to Australia by dancing down and smashing Gardner back over her head for six. England will need a few more of those.

Beaumont looked at the square leg umpire for height but the waist high rule is taken from your batting stance, and Beaumont had come down the wicket. It was the simplest chance for Gardner, who looks a bit sheepish because it wasn't the best delivery she has ever bowled.

  15. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 34.3 overs

    Beaumont c&b Gardner 49 (Eng 156-5)

Oh no, what an awful way to get out! Beaumont has played so well, so sensibly and feels the odds are in her favour when Gardner slings a full toss at her over middle stump. But as so often when faced with a shocker of a ball, she is undone by her eagerness to slap it and only sends the ball spinning up for the bowler to catch. On 49 as well.

    A big blow for England.

That woke everyone up a little bit. Sometimes that full toss can catch a batter out as you're not expecting it, but she got a good piece of it.

  17. Watch Danni Wyatt hit a sixpublished at 12:45 British Summer Time 9 July 2017

Danni Wyatt wasn't messing around when she first came into bat. She hit the first six of the day over long-off and towards the retirement flats...

  18. Eng 156-4published at 34 overs

    Beaumont 49, Wyatt 21

Perry's problem with wides continues. Two more this over.

They come either side of an absolute horror of a ball - slow, full bunger - that is smashed away over backward point for six by Beaumont. Just what England needed.

Ex-England captain on BBC Test Match Special

Australia will want to keep it under 250, or even lower if they can. These next five or six overs will tell us whether that will happen. England will need to up the rate but what comes with that is the risk of losing wickets.

  20. Eng 147-4published at 33 overs

More spin as Gardner returns. England look to work the ball around, but the boundary rope remains untroubled. Four off the over.
