Not a moment Worcestershire's Josh Tongue will want to see again in a hurry after Sussex seamer Jofra Archer beat his defences earlier.

The Pears have dug in though in the past hour and are now 61 runs behind making Sussex bat again as lunch approaches.

    Middlesex 358-9 v Somerset 443-9 dec & 1-1

Not an ideal start for Somerset to their second innings as Marcus Trescothick goes without scoring.

Toby Roland-Jones finds some added bounce and Trescothick can't prevent it finding the shoulder of his bat and looping behind to the waiting gloves of John Simpson.

Somerset's lead is just 87 runs.

    Could that cost them?

  11. Worcestershire tail-enders resistpublished at 12:08 British Summer Time 5 June 2017

    Sussex 579-8 dec v Worcestershire 312 & 159-6 (f/o)

Ross Whiteley (14 not out) and Ed Barnard (11 not out) are standing firm for Worcestershire and frustrating the Sussex bowlers.

As with every single cricket match* taking place today, the weather is probably going to curtail this game, so the hosts are racing against the rain to claim the final four wickets they need for victory.

Sussex hoping to beat the rainpublished at 11:48 British Summer Time 5 June 2017

    Sussex 579-8 dec v Worcestershire 312 & 138-6 (f/o)

    Adrian Harms
Sports reporter, BBC Sussex at Hove

With rain forecast on the south coast this afternoon, Sussex are racing against time to take the six wickets they needed at the start of the fourth day to claim a second Championship win of the season.

They've started well with Vernon Philander and Jofra Archer both taking a wicket and on a pitch offering variable bounce, this will be a tough ask for the Worcestershire tail. Unless the rain arrives to save their unbeaten start to the season.
