  • Bears skipper Grant Elliott scores unbeaten 59 off 37 balls

  • Semi-final draw: Glamorgan v Birmingham, Notts Outlaws v Hampshire

  1. Bears 150-4 (target 205)published at 14 overs

    Elliott 47, De Grandhomme 1

Stuart Meaker is fired up now. A short ball to end the 14th over.

    55 needed off 30 balls.

  2. Elliott reprieved by third umpirepublished at 13.3 overs

    Bears 148-4 (target 205)

The catch Scott Read mentions there is Notts batsman Alex Hales being given out in similar circumstances against Somerset.

The TV images are rarely clear cut in these instances - you make a case for it being in or out on television pictures alone.

Rory Burns, who was convinced he'd caught it, is visibly disgusted when the big screen shows the "not out" decision.

Elliott, who is now unbeaten on 47, survives. A big talking point.

  3. 'Enough evidence to overturn?'published at 21:27 British Summer Time 25 August 2017

    Bears 147-4 (13.3 overs)

    Scott Read
BBC cricket commentator on BBC Radio 5 live Sports Extra

For a second night in a row, we've got a controversial did he catch it, did he not?

The key is whether or not there's a soft signal to say if there's evidence to make the third umpire change his mind.

  4. Umpire reviewpublished at 13.3 overs

    Bears 147-4 (target 205)

Is Grant Elliott out? Has Rory Burns taken a brilliant catch? Up to the third umpire we go...

  5. wicket

WICKET Hain (c sub (Burns) b Clarke) 29published at 12.5 overs

    Bears 143-4 (target 205)

Now then. Sam Hain is caught in the deep by sub fielder Rory Burns.

    62 needed off 42 balls.

Colin de Grandhomme joins fellow New Zealand international Grant Elliott in the middle. He's another man who can smack it a long way.

  6. Bears 138-3 (target 205)published at 12.3 overs

    Elliott 41, Hain 25

These two Birmingham Bears batsmen are set now and Surrey desperately need a wicket.

Grant Elliott brings up the 50 partnership off 32 balls with another huge six over long on.

  7. 'Bears' night?'published at 21:20 British Summer Time 25 August 2017

    Bears 129-3 (12 overs)

    Scott Read
BBC commentator on BBC Radio 5 live Sports Extra

It just feels like the batsmen at the minute are in charge out there and this is going the Bears' way.

  8. 6 runs

    Bears 129-3 (target 205)published at 12 overs

    Elliott 35, Hain 22

Grant Elliott and Sam Hain are perhaps guilty of trying to be a bit too cute here.

Hain's reverse sweep attempt off Moises Henriques doesn't make contact, before Elliott almost paddles the ball onto his own stumps.

Elliott goes back to the old-fashioned "just give it a biff" and gets himself a boundary on the off side, and then he clubs a massive, massive six! It's into the middle tier of the stand!

  9. Bears 118-3 (target 205)published at 11 overs

    Elliott 25, Hain 21

This is excellent batting from Grant Elliott, showing all of his international experience to pick the gaps and keep the scoreboard ticking over.

A gorgeous cover drive for four takes the Bears to 118-3.

  10. Bears 111-3 (target 205)published at 10 overs

    Elliott 20, Hain 19

Sam Hain swings himself off his feet trying to smack Stuart Meaker over fine leg. There's no contact made with the ball, and Hain is left in a heap.

Grant Elliott hits a boundary and a big six over cover to get the Bears past 100.

They need 96 off the last 10 overs to reach Finals Day on their own patch in eight days' time. It's a tough, but doable, ask.

  11. 'Bears need a partnership'published at 9 overs

    Bears 94-3 (target 205)

    Ebony Rainford-Brent
Ex-England batter on BBC Radio 5 live sports extra

The Bears have still got plenty of hitting to come down the order, but I suppose this is where they want a partnership.

They want to have the score ticking over and stay up with the rate. They don't want to leave it to people lower down the order.

Six runs off Gareth Batty's latest over.

  12. Biggest cheer of the nightpublished at 21:08 British Summer Time 25 August 2017

    Bears 88-3 (target 205)

    Kalika Mehta
    BBC Sport at The Oval

The crowd certainly enjoyed the wicket of Dom Sibley. Given his recent acrimonious departure from Surrey, it's not surprising.

They were momentarily quietened down by Adam Hose and Sam Hain, but you get the feeling everyone at the Oval knows this match is going all the way.

  13. Bears 88-3 (target 205)published at 8 overs

    Elliott 3, Hain 14

Sam Curran saves an almost certain boundary with some athletic fielding at third man, and the last ball of the over is a dot.

117 runs needed for victory off 72 balls.

How big a wicket could that be?

A ball after sending down a horrible wide, Stuart Meaker dismisses Adam Hose for a well-made 36, caught at gully by Jason Roy.

Bears captain Grant Elliott is next in.

  15. Bears 82-2 (target 205)published at 7 overs

    Hose 36, Hain 12

Surrey captain Gareth Batty thinks it's time he should turn his arm over - Adam Hose welcomes him with a six straight back over the bowler's head.

Hose is 36 not out off 14 balls.

  16. Bears 71-2 (target 205)published at 6 overs

    Hose 26, Hain 11

Sam Hain doesn't waste any time, does he? A straight drive for four, then a extravagant paddle for six on the leg side.

The visitors are only four runs behind at the end of the powerplay compared to Surrey's total at this stage of their innings, but the Bears have lost two more wickets.

  17. 'Sibley looked scratchy'published at 20:56 British Summer Time 25 August 2017

    Bears 59-2 (5.1 overs)

    Ebony Rainford-Brent
Ex-England batter on BBC Radio 5 live sports extra

That's another big, big wicket and a great catch where Rikki Clarke had to bend back a bit there.

Dom Sibley was really scratchy on a wicket where the ball was coming on, but he just couldn't get any momentum.

  18. wicket

WICKET Sibley (c Clarke b Dernbach) 7published at 5.1 overs

    Bears 59-2 (target 205)

    Jade DernbachImage source, Getty Images

Just as the Bears were building some momentum, Jade Dernbach makes the breakthrough.

Dom Sibley mistimes a cover drive and it pops into the grateful hands of Rikki Clarke.

Sam Hain joins Adam Hose in the middle.

  19. Bears 59-1 (target 205)published at 5 overs

    Hose 26, Sibley 7

Big, big, big from Adam Hose, who plonks Rikki Clarke over cover for six and then, after a brief interlude for a change of ball, dances down the wicket to register another maximum over long-on.

Fours through cover and to fine leg add to Clarke's misery. 21 off the over.

The Bears are far from out of this. Surrey were 75-0 at the end of the powerplay and I don't think the Bears will be far behind that.

  20. 'Curran going full'published at 20:48 British Summer Time 25 August 2017

    Bears 38-1 (4 overs)

    Ebony Rainford-Brent
Ex-England batter on BBC Radio 5 live sports extra

Sam Curran's gone really full with his length which is good to see.

He's preventing the batsmen from getting under his deliveries and really targeting those stumps.
