  1. Surrey 83-0published at 7 overs

    Roy 45, Finch 34

Bears captain Grant Elliott turns to himself to try to change the momentum in this game.

Not a great start to his over as Oliver Hannon-Dalby misfields and concedes a boundary.

But, just the eight runs from it which is pretty respectable so far this evening.

It's a good wicket - the ball's coming on nicely and there's been no movement for the bowlers.

Once again in 2017, the New Zealand off-spinner has been a reliable source of wickets and control for Birmingham Bears in the T20 Blast.

Only Leicestershire's Clint McKay has taken more wickets in this year's competition.

That's the end of the powerplay and Surrey are in the ascendancy for sure.

Jason Roy's turn in this Jeetan Patel over to cash in and pick up a six.

Into the OCS Stand down at cow corner once more and no chance of the crowd holding on to that one!

  5. 6 runs

    Surrey 64-0published at 5.1 overs

    Roy 33, Finch 27

Jeetan Patel on for the Bears who need a breakthrough, but not off this first ball as Aaron Finch dispatches him into the stands!

  6. Surrey 58-0published at 5 overs

    Roy 33, Finch 21

There's a now somewhat embarrassed man in the crowd who didn't hold onto that Aaron Finch six.

There's a chance to share a £1,000 if you hold on to one in the crowd tonight. So far tonight, it's one held, one dropped by the spectators.

Oliver Hannon-Dalby picks up more punishment from Jason Roy and Finch, who keep peppering the boundaries in the powerplay. Surrey are romping along here.

Olly Stone into his second over to the slightly incapacitated Aaron Finch.

A big swing and miss from the Aussie to begin with but he connects with the third ball nicely with a one-bounce four down the ground.

A couple of balls later, it's almost identical but this time Finch plonks the ball 30 rows back into the stands.

  8. Surrey 36-0published at 3 overs

    Roy 27, Finch 5

More power from Jason Roy as he forehand smashes a shot through extra cover for four.

Great start for the hosts here after being inserted by the Birmingham Bears.

  9. 6 runs

    Surrey 32-0published at 2.2 overs

    Roy 23, Finch 5

First six of the night and Jason Roy tucks into Oliver Hannon-Dalby with a big smash over cow corner.

A man in the crowd is thrilled to have held on to that one from the England opener!

Olly Stone bangs one in short to Aaron Finch who swings and misses, but it bounces so much it goes through Tim Ambrose behind the stumps for four byes.

Finch connects with the next ball though and pulls it away for four!

So, Scott Borthwick is going to come out and be Aaron Finch's runner.

This could be a real calamity for Surrey if Finch can't perform with the willow...

This could be bad for the Bears - if Aaron Finch decides he's just going to stand and deliver. That might be fun...

Of the players to score more than 300 runs in this season's T20 Blast, Surrey's Aaron Finch has the fourth-highest strike rate per 100 balls.

Only Alex Hales, Joe Clarke and Luke Ronchi have scored at a quicker pace than the Australia international.

But, there's some alarm here early on in this quarter-final as Finch takes a quick single off Olly Stone and immediately hobbles to the other end.

On comes the physio here to strap up his right calf and there's a bit of a delay in play.

A nice juicy full toss early on which was put away nicely by Jason Roy.

It looks like a good wicket - the ball's coming on nicely and it could be a run-fest tonight.

  16. Surrey 11-0published at 1 over

    Roy 11, Finch 0

Well, here's a bit of a sub-plot. Former Surrey man Dom Sibley opens the bowling for Birmingham Bears from the Pavilion End with his slow variations.

Jason Roy smashes a full toss away for four off the second ball of the game showing he means business.

Roy repeats the treatment once again to get his eye in.

Just before we get started at The Oval, time for a bit of news from elsewhere today....

The West Indies' day at Headingley? Probably.

The tourists - hammered in the first Test at Edgbaston - put in a much improved showing on day one of the second Test against England, who were bowled out for 258 in Leeds.

It could have been a lot worse for the hosts, but Ben Stokes' sixth Test century put them in the game.

Catch up with the day's play here.
