  1. Stars 61-3published at 13 overs

Shot! That's lovely from Sophia Dunkley, on one knee and pulling a short Dibble delivery towards mid-wicket for four. Dunkley tries to give a fuller ball a similar treatment, but she can only push it back down the ground for a single.

  2. Stars 55-3published at 12 overs

    Kapp 17, Dunkley 8

Stafanie Taylor tosses the ball up and spears in a full toss that Sophia Dunkley clonks off her toes and away for a single. Taylor has a rueful sort of grin on her face as she wanders back down towards her fielding position.

  3. Not outpublished at 14:56 British Summer Time 1 September 2017

    Stars 52-3

That's a superb throw from Fran Wilson - the ball was dropped down by Marizanne Kapp, they took a quick single, and it was Kapp that was stretching to make her ground at the non-striker's end.

The toe of the bat is over the line! Surrey avoid losing another wicket.

  4. Umpire reviewpublished at 14:55 British Summer Time 1 September 2017

Here's Stafanie Taylor and her off-breaks. Oh, and is that a run out? We're going upstairs...

  5. Missed stumpingpublished at 11 overs

    Stars 50-3

Oh! Is that a chance? I think it is. Down the pitch comes Sophia Dunkley to Jodie Dibble, she misses by a mile - and Priest fumbles behind the stumps! The ball just turned past the bat, beat the off-stump and beat Priest to boot!

  6. Stars 46-3published at 10 overs

Here's Sophia Dunkley - and she tonks her first delivery for four! That was loose from Knight - short, wide, and driven straight back past her to the ropes.

  7. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 9.5 overs

    Sciver c Wilson b Knight 12 (Stars 42-3)

Captain Heather Knight brings herself on - and snares her opposite number! After a run of deliveries pushed to long-on, Sciver took a step back, looked to go over the top - and pulled a short delivery straight to Fran Wilson at mid-wicket. Not going too well, this...

This is a game being played between batter, bowler and long-on and has been for the last seven balls.

The rest of the fielders could have a cup of tea and a Kit-Kat.

  9. Stars 38-2published at 9 overs

    Kapp 11, Sciver 10

Another change for Western Storm - here's left-armer Jodie Dibble, who has taken just one wicket in the competition so far. Sciver and Kapp are in singles mode at the moment, driving the ball up towards long-on with regularity.

  10. Postpublished at 14:44 British Summer Time 1 September 2017

There's not been much for Stars to cheer about so far. This was Lizelle Lee's best moment, hitting World Cup hero Anya Shrubsole for four...

before Tammy Beaumont became the first wicket to fall as she cut off-spinner Claire Nicholas to backward point.

  11. Stars 33-2published at 8 overs

Freya Davies continues, and Marizanne Kapp picks up a leggy delivery and rolls her wrists to send it into the mid-wicket boundary. This is good running from Kapp and Nat Sciver though, tapping the singles here and there to keep the run rate ticking along. Sciver then whips out the NatMeg - trust me on this one - as she pokes a full delivery through her feet for a single. She's got a massive grin on her face as she makes her way to the opposite end.

  12. Postpublished at 14:40 British Summer Time 1 September 2017

That's the end of Claire Nicholas' stint - there were 16 dot balls in her spell of 4-1-14-1.

  13. Stars 27-2published at 7 overs

    Kapp 4, Sciver 7

The run rate is currently at 3.00. That'll up it though - Claire Nicholas spears in a short delivery and Nat Sciver pulls it straight through Fran Wilson's legs to pick up a boundary. Nicholas responds with a straight delivery that Sciver plays all around, and the ball bounces over the stumps and into Rachel Priest's gloves. A tidy over.

  14. Stars 18-2published at 6 overs

    Davies 1-0-3-1

Captain Natalie Sciver arrives at the crease, but she's trapped at the other end as Marizanne Kapp blocks out two full deliveries from Freya Davies.

It looked like Lizelle Lee had got hold of that quite well but it went straight up in the air.

Stafanie Taylor looked quite relieved to take that - it was in the air for a long time.

  16. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 5.4 overs

    Lee c Taylor b Davies 10 (Stars 18-2)

A gift of a wicket! New bowler Freya Davies was struggling with her radar, with the first two deliveries of the over sliding down the leg side. That one was on the pads too and Lee scooped it upwards, trying to send it over the ropes, and instead it landed in Stafanie Taylor's mitts. It was in the air for a while and there's more than a hint of relief on Taylor's face as she clung on to that one.

It may be sunny overhead but it's a tad chilly by the sea in Sussex and in amongst the T-Shirt and short laden spectators there are a fair few woolly jumpers.

There are plenty of young kids sporting Southern Vipers, Western Storm and Surrey Stars replica shirt to add to the colour of the afternoon.

Lizelle Lee's early boundaries have got the crowd in good spirits, which bodes well for the day ahead.

  18. Stars 15-1published at 5 overs

    Nicholas 3-1-5-1

Marizanne Kapp is the next batsman at the crease, with 159 tournament runs under her belt so far. She's straight off the mark to her first delivery with a gentle push and run, before she whips a fuller delivery off her toes and away for a single.

Tammy Beaumont had been struggling against Claire Nicholas. Nicholas has been bowling well and didn't let her hit straight down the ground.

She tried to get some reverse sweeps going but that was the first loose ball she had and she couldn't put it away.

  20. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 4.1 overs

    Beaumont c Dibble b Nicholas 3 (Stars 12-1)

Gone! Oh, that's a poor dismissal. It was short and wide from Claire Nicholas and Beamount shaped to cut, and ended up slapping it straight to backward point. That's the loosest delivery Nicholas has bowled this afternoon, and it's got her a wicket.
