Shrubsole continues as Lee sneaks a single from the first ball of the over. Beamount is then promptly struck low on the pad, but she was a fair way down the wicket and there was the familiar clunk of bat on ball. Shrubsole keeps up that fuller length and Beamount guides a single down to third man, before another Shrubsole delivery thuds into Lee's pads.

    Nicholas 2-1-2

Tammy Beaumont is on the move. She shuffles down the pitch to spinner Claire Nicholas but the ball only finds her pad. She's not quite found her feet yet and tries to break the dot balls with a reverse sweep, but the ball just sneaks over the bat and into the gloves of keeper Rachel Priest. The umpire shakes his head, and Nicholas fires through a fine maiden.

  4. Stars 10-0published at 2 overs

    Beaumont 2, Lee 8

Here's Anya Shrubsole. Or Anya Shrubsole, World Cup Hero, to give her her full title. She bowls full to the South African, who pats the ball back down the pitch as she gets her eye in. That's four! Lee smacks the ball through extra cover, if a little aerially, for the first boundary of the innings. And again! The ball lingered in the air once again but Lee threw the kitchen sink at that.

That all looks rather promising to me...

There's a real height difference between Tammy Beamount and Lizelle Lee - Beaumount cuts a diminutive figure at the best of times but she's dwarved by the muscly figure of Lee. Nicholas spins the ball between her hands and Beaumount cracks the ball towards the covers, but Heather Knight is quickly down on one knee to tidy up. Ooh, a reverse sweep from Beamount clears the close field, and spoons over point for a couple. The ball just seemed to stick in the outfield a touch as it went down towards the boundary.

Tammy Beaumont and Lizelle Lee are making their way out to the middle to the strains of the White Stripes' Seven Nation Army. It'll be spinner Claire Nicholas to open the bowling for Western Storm.

I think, from playing the Stars, we saw they were more of a consistent team. With Western Storm, there's a lot of players who can come off. Twenty20 is that kind of game that it could go either way.

  11. Western Storm's route to the semi-finalpublished at 14:10 British Summer Time 1 September 2017

Third-placed Western Storm lost their opening match but a superb innings from New Zealand's Rachel Priest in York kick-started their campaign.

Priest's unbeaten 65-ball century included 14 boundaries and three sixes as she and England captain Heather Knight chased down Yorkshire Diamonds' 161 in 17 overs.

They have pace bowler Anya Shrubsole in their ranks and West Indies all-rounder Stafanie Taylor, who took 4-5 in four overs against Loughborough Lightning.

Western Storm also have big game experience, having reached the final last year where they lost by seven wickets to Southern Vipers.

It looks a very good pitch but I think Heather is right - it was a good one to lose. But on a Finals Day, I think runs on the board puts pressure on the team batting second. I think Surrey are the favourites going into this one.

  13. Surrey Stars route to the semi-finalpublished at 14:07 British Summer Time 1 September 2017

Surrey Stars finished second in the Super League table and lost just one of their five group games on their way to Finals Day.

They have four of England's recent World Cup winners in their squad, along with Australia seamer Rene Farrell and South Africa opener Lizelle Lee.

They're captained by England all-rounder Natalie Sciver, who is the tournament's leading wicket-taker with 10 wickets, and she's also got 142 runs in the bag from the group stages.

The Stars' only group loss came to Loughborough Lightning in the final match, where they were bowled out for 90 in 18 overs.
