Unbeaten Division Two leaders Nottinghamshire have a seventh win of the summer in their sights after setting Northants a mammoth victory target of 417 at Trent Bridge.

They already have four of the wickets they need, two of them taken by England's Jake Ball, and there may be doubts about whether Adam Rossington can bat after suffering a hand injury earlier in the game.

“We’ve put ourselves in a really good position in that last session. I think we sort of had to be honest with ourselves and say we didn’t bowl as well as we could with the new ball, but I think we’ve dragged it back nicely," Ball told BBC Radio Nottingham.

“We know the lengths we have to bowl and it’s slightly fuller than you normally want – and then you get driven – but we feel we’ve got enough runs on the board to put them under enough pressure.”

Sussex's Ollie Robinson was undoubtedly one of the stars of day three, hitting 41 off 37 balls to see his side to a one-wicket win over Glamorgan - their third in a row.

Returning from injury, Robinson took seven wickets in the match before his nerveless batting saw his side over the line in Colwyn Bay, earning plaudits from team mate Chris Jordan.

"There's no question at all about his talent," Jordan told BBC Radio Sussex. "He's an immensely talented cricketer and he's a competitor - those are things you can't teach.

"This was his first Championship game (of the season) and the first ball he bowled to the last he faced summed his game up: he was very courageous, very brave and very attacking."

  3. Weather outlookpublished at 10:34 British Summer Time 31 August 2017

There was quite a bit of of rain about yesterday, with no play possible at The Oval or Canterbury, and less than an hour of action at Chelmsford.

Today looks a bit better but Lancashire supporters hoping to see their side beat Warwickshire might be concerned about Alina Jenkins' forecast below.
