  1. wicket

WICKET Raine (c Procter b Sanderson) 57published at 13:54 British Summer Time 26 September 2017

    Leicestershire 128 v Northants

Part one is complete for Northants - they've skittled Leicestershire for 128.

Ben Raine is the last man to go to give Ben Sanderson his five-wicket haul.

A quick 400 from Northants' batsmen will have Worcetershire and Notts looking over their shoulders.

Just a reminder if you keep seeing the word 'I' or 'me'...

Gary Smee is covering Somerset against Middlesex and Worcestershire v Durham and Leicestershire v Northants.

Kalika Mehta is keeping a close on on Warwickshire versus Hampshire and Sussex v Notts.

All five matches have been pretty epic so far. More of the same please.

  3. wicket

WICKET Klein (c Procter b Gleeson) 14published at 13:51 British Summer Time 26 September 2017

    Leicestershire 124-9 v Northants

This is more bad news for Notts.

Northants claim maximum bowling bonus points as Richard Gleeson picks up his fifth wicket.

Dieter Klein is snaffled by Luke Procter. If Northants win with 24 points, Notts will definitely need 12 to go up.

Unless Worcestershire capitulate! My brain hurts.

Chris Jordan reaches just his second first-class century as he laces Harry Gurney through the covers.

His swashbuckling innings has come off 116-balls and has hit an impressive 14 fours and two huge maximums.

Notts may have made a breakthrough but Sussex are in a very commanding position at Hove.

Notts need a maximum of 12 points to seal promotion - it seemed nailed on just a few weeks ago. Not so much now.

  5. 50 runs

for Ben Rainepublished at 13:48 British Summer Time 26 September 2017

    Leicestershire 123-8 v Northants

Ben Raine is fighting a bit of a lone battle for Leicestershire at Grace Road.

The 26-year-old goes to his half-century off just 48 balls.

Great counter attack by the Leicestershire number 8.

  6. wicket

WICKET Burgess (b Gurney) 146published at 13:43 British Summer Time 26 September 2017

    Sussex 421-7 v Nottinghamshire

Michael Burgess' brilliant innings come to an end as he is bowled by Harry Gurney for a first-class best of 146.

His innings lasted 198 balls and included 19 fours and two sixes as the 23-year-old wicket-keeper shared century stands with Delray Rawlins and Chris Jordan.

    Somerset 236 & 7-0 v Middlesex 142

    Gorgeous from Ed Byrom.

The 20-year-old opener punches Tim Murtagh through mid-off and to the rope.

Middlesex's body language doesn't look great at the moment. They know they're in trouble.

  8. 50 runs

for Ashwinpublished at 13:39 British Summer Time 26 September 2017

    Worcestershire 220-6 v Durham

Ravichandran Ashwin is a mightily fine cricketer.

The India all-rounder makes his first half-century for Worcestershire to put them in a good position against Durham.

Ed Barnard is on 13 at the other end.

Worcestershire need a maximum of six points to be promoted - but they may need even less depending on the Northants and Notts results.

  9. Somerset start second inningspublished at 13:33 British Summer Time 26 September 2017

    Somerset 236 & 0-0 v Middlesex 142

Ed Byrom and Marcus Trescothick are already in the middle for Somerset.

Tim Murtagh has the new ball in his hand. Middlesex need something special from their bowling unit.

  10. In with an Ashes chance?published at 13:32 British Summer Time 26 September 2017

  11. How are the champions getting on?published at 13:30 British Summer Time 26 September 2017

    Essex 227 v Yorkshire 93-6

A few people have been asking if we've forgotten about Essex today.

With Essex already champions and Yorkshire safe, the focus has been on the games where relegation and promotion can be decided.

What I can tell you is that Yorkshire are 93-6 at Chelmsford, still trailing by 134.

Neil Wagner has starred with the ball, taking 3-21.

  12. Middlesex down if...published at 13:26 British Summer Time 26 September 2017

Somerset beat them and Hampshire take seven points at Edgbaston.

If Hampshire bowl out Warwickshire inside 110 overs and then score 350 plus in their first innings, they will be safe.

  13. wicket

WICKET Patel (c van der Merwe b C Overton) 0published at 13:22 British Summer Time 26 September 2017

    Somerset 236 v Middlesex 142

Middlesex are all out. And bang in trouble.

Ravi Patel swipes Craig Overton straight to Roelof van der Merwe at cover.

The giant paceman finishes with figures of 3-7.

Middlesex trail by 94 runs and they'll have to bat last on a turning pitch.

  14. Stokes arrested after Bristol incidentpublished at 13:20 British Summer Time 26 September 2017
    Breaking

There's some breaking news from the England camp this lunchtime.

All-rounder was arrested after an incident in Bristol following victory over the West Indies in the third one-day international.

He will not be available for England's fourth one-day international against West Indies on Wednesday, the England and Wales Cricket Board has announced.

Team-mate Alex Hales, who was with Stokes, will also miss the match and has returned to Bristol to help police with their inquiries.

  15. 'Sibley has stood tall'published at 13:17 British Summer Time 26 September 2017

    Warwickshire 79-5 v Hampshire - lunch

    Kevan James
    Sport Presenter, BBC Radio Solent

Dominic Sibley has stood tall in this session and played quite superbly. He looks strong and has played some crisp drives. He's led the recovery from 12-4.

Interesting how batting doesn't look quite so difficult now as from the first 45 minutes.

As the sun continues to shine this pitch looks as though it's going to be a good one.

I understand Kyle Abbott, who had to leave the pitch after bowling just 9 balls (2 wkts and no runs) due to an ankle injury, will return after the break.

  16. wicket

WICKET Harris (b Overton) 19published at 13:13 British Summer Time 26 September 2017

    Somerset 236 v Middlesex 128-9

Four balls after lunch Craig Overton sends James Harris' middle stump cartwheeling out of the ground.

Great start for the hosts, not such a good one for the visitors after the break.

Ravi Patel is the last man in.

  17. Sussex make hay at Hovepublished at 13:08 British Summer Time 26 September 2017

    Sussex 389-6 v Nottinghamshire

    Adrian Harms
    Sports reporter, BBC Sussex

Sussex have reserved their best batting performance of the season for the last game, scoring 159 runs for the loss of Delray Rawlins on a scintillating morning at Hove.

Michael Burgess (134 not out) and Chris Jordan (81 not out) have added an unbeaten 157 with Burgess reaching a maiden first class century and Jordan his best score of the season in an exhibition that has had the Hove crowd on their feet.

Notts will want to pick up a third bowling point in the remaining 11 overs, but will also be anxiously watching developments at Grace Road.

  19. What if they finish level on points?published at 13:01 British Summer Time 26 September 2017

Regarding the post at 12:24 about 'what if Hampshire and Middlesex finish level on points' - I misread the rulebook slightly...

It would go down to who took the most points from their two meetings - not the results, which were both draws.

Middlesex (19 pts) took one more point than Hampshire (18 pts) from the two games and so they would stay up.

It's an unlikely scenario - Hampshire would need to make 300-350 in their first innings and still lose the match at Edgbaston - all after day one was washed out!

  20. 'Glamorgan under the cosh'published at 12:56 British Summer Time 26 September 2017

    Kent 302 v Glamorgan 101-5 - lunch

    Nick Webb
    BBC Wales Sport

Kent's seamers have had a raw Glamorgan side under the cosh in the first session with the ball moving around in cloudy conditions.

153 is the follow-on target for the visitors, and they're still 52 short despite Chris Cooke and Andrew Salter steadying the ship for the 45 minutes before lunch.

Earlier Connor Brown survived an hour before falling lbw to Darren Stevens for 2, while Jack Murphy on 22 steered Adam Milne to point.

Callum Haggett had the returning David Lloyd caught behind for 14 with his first delivery and induced Kiran Carlson to play on for 9 in a tight first spell.
