So, Sophie Ecclestone remains unbeaten on eight in her maiden Test innings.

    Here's the bowling figures:

Megan Schutt 24-7-52-2, Ellyse Perry 21-2-59-3, Tahlia McGrath 19-8-45-2, Jess Jonassen 31-7-52-2, Amanda-Jade Wellington 21-1-61-1.

Marsh c Healy b Perry 13 (Eng 280 all out)

Just when it looked as though England were getting towards the first drinks break unscathed, with Marsh edging another four, a fainter edge is straight through to keeper Alyssa Healy and England are all out.

I was having lunch in a hotel earlier and all the Richies were in there. Quite an amusing bunch - they've got some songsheets and I think they could be quite rowdy by tonight.

    Marsh 9, Ecclestone 8

Ecclestone guides a loopy Wellington full toss for two, before executing a textbook cover drive for two more.

I may be going out on a limb here, but I'd wager that she won't be batting at number 11 for all of her international career if she can bat like this.

    Perry 20-2-55-2

A misfield allows Marsh a two through the covers, while Perry strays with a no-ball. While England will be frustrated at the manner of today's two dismissals, every run here is precious - it would be a big psychological boost if they were able to sneak past 300.

Laura Marsh has never batted higher than number six in Test cricket, but she's opened in limited-overs cricket - and was Charlotte Edwards' opening partner in T20 internationals for a spell. So she's a useful player for England to have at number 10, carefully adding a single to her score.

Sophie Ecclestone won't be fazed by this, I know she's played a lot of men's cricket in Cheshire, where she's from. It was a big learning experience for me to do so from an early age, when the standard of women's cricket wasn't where it is now.

But I think we're a long way off from a woman playing in men's international cricket, because of the power aspect - it possibly might be a spinner or a wicketkeeper. I know people who think Sarah Taylor could play as a keeper in men's first-class cricket.

    Marsh 6, Ecclestone 4

Bang! Australia turn to the pace of Ellyse Perry in a bid to dislodge this last England wicket - she hurls down a bouncer, Sophie Ecclestone stands tall and pulls it for four through mid-wicket! What a way to get your first runs in Test cricket. And great to hear that her parents are there to watch the game.

What did you make of the Shrubsole no-ball decision?

It was very, very close. But the non-striker was in the way of the back foot, I don't there was clear enough evidence to give it as a no-ball.

Surrey all-rounder Tom Curran has arrived in Australia as a replacement for the injured Steven Finn and revealed that this is his first ever trip here:

“I'm feeling pretty tired now. First time in Australia, it’s great to be here. This is as big as it gets, being involved in an Ashes series is the thing I dreamed of as a kid.

"This is a great opportunity, being in and around the squad and watching and playing with the best in the world. If I get an opportunity I’ll be ready to grab it with both hands.

"It has been very overwhelming. It's a day you dream of as a kid to be involved in a Test squad”."

It'll be interesting to see how England approach it from here. They don't want to just draw this out, but it's frustrating the way England have got themselves out. Apart from Wellington getting Beaumont yesterday, there have been some soft dismissals. Par here is about 300.

Number 11 Sophie Ecclestone walks on as one of the Richies plays the "Imperial March" theme from Star Wars on his (or her) trumpet. It may be lost on Ecclestone, 18, who was born in May 1999, a week or two before the first of the Star Wars prequels was released. If that doesn't make you feel old...

Meanwhile, Marsh adds a two to the score.

They're just holding her up while they see if Megan Schutt has bowled a no-ball... it was almost as though she got a word from the England camp. It was almost as though she wasn't sure whether to hit that, and got a top edge.
