A change of bowling - Sophie Ecclestone replaces Sciver. In contrast to Laura Marsh, who (as a former seamer) has quite a long run-up for a spin bowler, Ecclestone comes in off only two or three paces. Mooney adds two more to her score.

I was surprised England left Jenny Gunn out - I thought Georgia Elwiss or Fran Wilson was going to miss out. Gunn has a lot of experience and has played a lot of Test matches.

    25 overs

There's small evidence of slight acceleration from Australia - they seem to be turning ones into twos. We're through 25 overs with the openers yet to be dislodged - or offer any realistic chance.

They couldn't have chosen a better venue for this Women's Test. It's so pleasing to see so many fans of both sides here.

    Sciver 5-1-13-0

England have two gullies posted for Mooney, but she cuts past the pair of them for her second boundary.

Well, Charlotte has had a walk round the ground - a traditional cricket fan's method of trying to "take a wicket" - what else can England try?

I've just had a lovely walk round the ground - it's a superb atmosphere here. There are some England fans over in the Bob Stand, I met a few of the players' families - a few faces I'd not seen for a while. But it looks as though Australia are going along nicely, England desperately need a wicket.

    Bolton 24, Mooney 12

Marsh rattles through another over, Mooney moves to 12 with a single off the last ball, just wide of the diving fielder at short mid-off.

    22 overs

Bolton cuts Sciver, it's edged but wide of Heather Knight at slip and away for four. Not really a chance, but fortune favouring a bold shot from the left-hander.

The women play fixtures like this only once every two years. They've got four days - so they think they've got time to wait for the loose deliveries, so it always becomes like a net session, but they've got to find ways to manipulate the ball through the gaps.

    Marsh 4-2-4-0

Bolton pushes Marsh for two through the legs of Beaumont at short leg. She has 20 from 57 balls, Mooney has a more leisurely 10 from 69.

England have bowled a good line and length - Australia have found it difficult to find the gaps since the interval, and England have fielded exceptionally well.

  12. Adelaide update: Root goespublished at 06:12 Greenwich Mean Time 10 November 2017

Hot on the heels of Mark Stoneman's dismissal for 51, Joe Root - who was nearly run out without scoring - is lbw to Gurinder Sandhu for one. James Vince has been joined by Dawid Malan.

  13. Aus 30-0published at 06:11 Greenwich Mean Time 10 November 2017

Despite having seen off the opening burst from Brunt and Shrubsole, Australia seem in no hurry to up the rate against England's change bowlers. Brunt makes a really good full-length stop at mid-wicket as they look to keep the pressure on. Just a Bolton single from Sciver's over.

  14. Aus 29-0published at 06:09 Greenwich Mean Time 10 November 2017

    Bolton 17, Mooney 10

A rapid maiden over from Marsh to Mooney. It'll do wonders for England's over-rate, which - it being women's cricket - is pretty good in any event.

Mooney is belatedly into double figures, from 58 balls. Still bright and sunny at North Sydney Oval, although judging by yesterday evening, the fans will have brought some warmer clothing for the final session.

    Trail by 252

There's a queue of half-a-dozen young boys, all wearing their canary yellow/Australian gold (delete as appropriate) colours, waiting behind one of the advertising hoardings for an autograph from any nearby fielders.

Off-spinner Marsh has had a change of ends, and the runs have increased from an occasional drip to a trickle as the Aussies plunder a couple of singles and a two as Bolton nurdles the ball down the leg side.

  19. Aus 24-0published at 05:58 Greenwich Mean Time 10 November 2017

England are ringing the changes with their bowlers - after just one over of Laura Marsh before the interval, they turn to Natalie Sciver's medium pace. So Sciver is the fifth different England bowler that Australia will have faced in as many overs. Mooney is back on the defensive - she's taken 53 balls to score eight runs - as Sciver sends down a maiden over.

When I first came across Tammy Beaumont in an England A game, she reminded me of Claire Taylor - small in stature, but very busy at the crease, and she had a breakout tournament at this summer's World Cup.
