I'm still laughing about Perry's celebration, when she thought she'd hit a six and she hadn't. Pure class - I know Ellyse well and it was one of those moments you were just dying to see.

Jonassen's off and Australia turn to seam and it's going to be... Tahlia McGrath. A medium-pacer. Charles Dagnall in the TMS box may well spontaneously combust if Perry doesn't get a bowl tonight. She's trending on Twitter, both in the UK and worldwide.

Winfield is tucked up for room as she tries to work the ball to leg, but keeps the scoreboard ticking with a single. Beaumont moves to 15.

    Winfield 4, Beaumont 14

Tammy Beaumont, player of the tournament at the recent World Cup, is looking in good touch in these early stages, guiding Schutt for another couple of attractive fours and defending resolutely.

Today's attendance is announced as 3,932 - an increase on yesterday - as Jonassen whistles through a maiden over to Winfield.

(Daggers is still coming off the long run about Australia opening with a spinner)

Jess Jonassen can bowl all day tomorrow when the shine's off the ball. But that shine will only last for 10-15 overs. And there's no discernable turn there, either.

  6. Eng 11-0published at 09:56 Greenwich Mean Time 11 November 2017

Beaumont square-drives a full, wide delivery from Schutt for the first boundary of the England second innings.

I'm a little bit confused than Jonassen is bowling. You've got a new pill - why not give it to Perry, the player in form?

Charles Dagnall adds: She's just scored 200, she's high as a kite, the crowd will all be behind her, and the only time you're going to swing this ball is when it's new under lights. Why take away that massive advantage?

  8. Eng 7-0published at 09:52 Greenwich Mean Time 11 November 2017

    Winfield 4, Beaumont 3

Beaumont dabs Jonassen for a single - thankfully there's no drama between the wickets on this occasion. Beth Mooney moves in under the lid at silly point for Winfield, though not for Beaumont. Australia are quickly round between overs, looking to maximise this half-session under the lights.

It's close - but not out. Keeper Alyssa Healy took the ball from behind the stumps, and when she removed the bails, Winfield's bat was over the line. Had the throw been a direct hit, she'd be back in the hutch.

If there's a tartan rug salesman in North Sydney, it looks like they've been doing some excellent business as the supporters hunker down for the final 45 minutes of day three. Tammy Beaumont faces for the first time in this innings, pushing a quick single into the covers and has Winfield been run out? They're going upstairs...

  13. Eng 3-0published at 09:45 Greenwich Mean Time 11 November 2017

    Winfield 3, Beaumont 0

Now here's a surprise - Australia are going to start with spin from the other end, with slow left-armer Jess Jonassen. I'd suggest this is probably a tactical move rather than needing to give Perry a rest as she's full of energy in the field, running over to help the silly point fielder don some shin pads. Jonassen tosses up a couple of inviting deliveries but Winfield is positive, guiding a two through the covers.

Megan Schutt, fresh from her appearance at number 11, will take the new ball - the shiniest one we've seen for about 24 hours - as England begin their (roughly) 50-minute batting session. Winfield successfully negotiates the opening over, guiding the last ball for a single, and who's going to bowl the second? Will it be Ellyse Perry?

Ellyse Perry was always playing an age group up in junior cricket, and would sometimes open the batting and the bowling for New South Wales at Under-15 and Under-17 level, so it was no surprise when we saw her batting up the order for Australia. She is a special player.

Australia have donned their Baggy Greens and their cable knit sweaters - Lauren Winfield and Tammy Beaumont are ready to walk out for England, who are well and truly under the cosh.

Ellyse Perry has been playing for Australia for 10 years now - I remember when she came into the side, batting at number seven, and people would have questioned if she was capable of batting at four and opening the bowling. She's proved all of those people wrong.
