Wellington's off, but Australia replace one front-line spinner with another as slow left-armer Jess Jonassen - player of the match in the last Test in 2015 - rejoins the attack. Knight knocks a single to leg, and when Jonassen drags one down, Winfield ends a bit of a boundary drought by pulling a four over mid-wicket. England are halfway towards wiping out the deficit.

Mind you, as Charlotte Edwards points out on TMS, it's a similar delivery to the ones which took several wickets in England's innings! Both openers were caught at mid-wicket in similar circumstances.

England are still trailing by 89 - add two wickets to the score and it may put them under pressure, so there's a big half-hour or 40 minutes coming up before the interval.

    Winfield 30, Knight 3

Winfield survives another lbw shout from Schutt - it's closer than her last appeal, but again TV replays suggest the ball would have gone down the leg side. (It's just the basic replays for this Test - no DRS so no ball-tracking, Hotspot or snickometer). Maiden over.

But it's still Amanda-Jade Wellington for now - she looks set to add another maiden over to her tally until Winfield adds a single to move to 30 from 131 balls. A measured innings from the Yorkshire right-hander.

Knight turns Schutt through wide mid-wicket for two, it's good that England are continuing to chip away at this deficit and not getting bogged down.

And it looks as though Tahlia McGrath's warming up to have a bowl.

It's very impressive, the control Wellington bowls with, for such a young bowler - and a leg-spinner at that. But they might look to change her soon, as sometimes bringing another bowler on helps so the batsmen don't get used to facing one particular bowler.

    Wellington 12-3-18-1

Wellington, collar up, is back over the wicket to Winfield - she still has three close fielders although Daggers doesn't think she needs a fielder out at deep cover. Winfield sees out a maiden over.

Heather Knight is off the mark with a single from her 12th ball, Schutt raises her arm in appealing for lbw against Winfield but once more, the ball looked to be going down the leg side. Winfield moves to 29 with a single to fine leg.

England won't be used to padding up to anything outside leg stump as in most of the cricket they play, anything outside leg is called as a wide.

Cricket Australia have already tweeted a video of the Beaumont wicket - I'd recommend taking a look, as the Warne/Gatting ball is not an unfair comparison. Winfield whips Wellington through mid-wicket for two

I know we've got seven games to play for the Ashes, but I'd like to see a trophy just for the Test match. Something like the Betty Wilson-Enid Bakewell Trophy. Just so that it doesn't get lost amid the multi-format series.

Captain Heather Knight in at number three for England, safely negotiating the over. It looks like she's off the mark with a single, but there's a belated call of leg bye.

That's one of those perfect leg-spinner's deliveries. An absolute peach, Wellington would have dreamed of bowling one of those overnight.

    Beaumont b Wellington 37 (Eng 71-1)

Oh, what a beauty! Amanda-Jade Wellington spins one down which pitches on leg-stump and hits the top of off. Beaumont looks as bemused as Mike Gatting was for that famous "ball of the century" from Shane Warne in 1993.

An absolute ripper of a delivery. Beaumont can consider herself mildly unfortunate as she's been dismissed twice by Wellington's leg-spin in this match - by probably the best two deliveries Wellington has bowled.

Yesterday was one of those "I was there" moments, like Steve Waugh's hundred at the SCG off the last ball. We saw two of the best innings ever - Perry's 213, and Megan Schutt surviving those six balls!

England didn't bowl a single no-ball in the 166 overs of Australia's innings, but Schutt sends down Australia's third of the day. Winfield is solid in defence - this is the longest she'll have batted in an England shirt for a while, having had a disappointing World Cup - and when she tries to square-drive Schutt, the ball takes the edge and shoots (or should that be Schutts?) along the ground for four.

    A mini-landmark - England's deficit is now under 100.

"I'm keeping count - I think Beth Mooney's been hit three times today," notes Mel Jones on TMS, as the Aussie close fielder takes another whack on the shins. But it's good to see Wellington trying something different, bowling round the wicket for the first time today - she beats Beaumont's outside edge, but it flies off the webbing of keeper Alyssa Healy's gloves for two byes. England must be on their guard against the leg-spinner.
