England had opportunities there. They started the day nicely but didn't really capitalise on it. I am starting to worry about how much this ball is spinning. England need someone to take it on, be aggressive and get 150.

A session that started perfectly for England, with a wicket from the third ball of the over, but Tim Paine and Shaun Marsh ended any hopes of a middle-order collapse. Australia are over the 300 mark. This game feels a long way out of England's reach.

That's it from me for a bit. Matt Henry will take you through tea and beyond.

In technicalities that is a dropped catch but it spun so far.

  4. Tea - Aus 306-6published at 116 overs

    Starc 4, Marsh 49

And Joe Root beats Shaun Marsh straight away! That came low at Marsh and beat his shovel forward, just slicing past the outside edge of the bat. There's a noise there, actually, but it's the tiniest of edges, and Bairstow couldn't take it. A single brings Mitch Starc back on strike, and he guides a full delivery off his pads. The last ball is directed in, Starc blocks it away and stomps away.

    That, folks, is tea.

Ooh. Joe Root is going to bowl the final over of the session, before the 20 minute tea break.

  6. Aus 305-6published at 115 overs

Turn and bounce for Moeen, as he beats Shaun Marsh's grope forward, but some rubbish down the leg side gifts Australia three runs. That came right off Shaun Marsh's glove, but there was no fielder in place. Moeen takes the pace right off again to Mitch Starc, who cracks the ball straight towards a fielder, before the final ball of the over cannons into his pad off the inside edge. Starc's not looked particularly comfortable against Moeen so far. He's off strike for the final over, though.

  8. Aus 300-6published at 114 overs

    Marsh 45, Starc 2

Short from Craig Overton, and Shaun Marsh swivels and drags the ball down to add another single to the total. There's two slips in place for Mitch Starc, who digs out a yorker in not entirely convincing fashion, and just about avoids edging onto his stumps. Starc, who knows a thing or two about yorkers, has an unimpressed look on his face as he gets down to the other end. Marsh pushes forward and another outside edge brings up Australia's 300.

For those of you who don't know the session times today, try these for size:

    • First session: 03:00-05:30 GMT
    • Second session: 05:50-07:50
    • Third session: 08:30-10:40 (play can continue until 11:10)
  10. Aus 297-6published at 113 overs

Shaun Marsh wallops Moeen's first ball up to point to get this next over started with a single. Moeen mixes up his speeds nicely to Mitch Starc, keeping him on the defensive, and Starc gets pushed deep into his crease by Moeen's final ball.

  11. 'Lyon will get 10 wickets'published at 05:20 Greenwich Mean Time 3 December 2017

I'm going to stick my neck out and say Nathan Lyon will get 10 wickets in this match.

  12. Aus 296-6published at 112 overs

    Overton 26-3-66-2

Moeen's not too happy with the finger that he injured in Brisbane. He's picking at it as Craig Overton runs in to Shaun Marsh. Down the leg side goes Overton and Marsh chases it, swinging loosely, but the ball brushes trouser, rather than bat. Oh, that's a false shot from Marsh. Overton just gets one to come back in, surprising Marsh who went for a cut, and the ball sneaks over the top of the bat and through to Bairstow. Marsh drops and runs, Mitch Starc is very lazy trying to get through, and Mark Stoneman's throw just misses the stumps. Overton goes full to Starc, going for the yorker, and Starc plonks it away from his feet.

Nathan Lyon has just fallen out of his hammock watching that.

  14. Aus 295-6published at 111 overs

Moeen races through his over to Mitch Starc, while Starc taps the ball here and there. Ooft, and the final ball of the over is a peach! It's fuller from Moeen, going straight before turning and bouncing past Starc's outside edge. The bounce surprised Bairstow too, striking him on the shoulder, and that's a maiden from Moeen.

  16. Aus 295-6published at 110 overs

Mitch Starc is going to get some short stuff here. I'm sure he'll return the favour later on. It's quite good from Overton, directed into Starc's body, but there's not enough pace to really trouble him. Starc offers up a half chance but there's no short leg in place to snaffle the catch, before Anderson misfields and allows Starc to get his first run.

    Glenn McGrath
Ex-Australia pace bowler on BBC Test Match Special

When England took a wicket on the third ball of the day it looked like an ominous sign but it hasn't been happy sailing since then. I think anything over 300 is going to hurt.

  18. Aus 294-6published at 109 overs

Looking at that Paine wicket again, he really connected with that Overton delivery. It just went straight to Moeen. A flat hit, too. Moeen trots in to whizz through another over and Shaun Marsh defends. A slight shimmy down the pitch doesn't beat Moeen as he leaps in follow through to grab the ball. That's as tidy an over as Moeen has bowled today, and it's a maiden.

Paine had to fetch it and was looking to hook for six but couldn't get the leverage. Moeen didn't have to move.

England have to knock these over for under 350 to get themselves back in the game.

  20. Aus 294-6published at 108 overs

Mitch Starc, sporting a grotty looking arm guard, is the next man in. He sees out the final delivery with ease.
