  1. Aus 372-7published at 137 overs

    Marsh 88, Cummins 23

Shouts of catch from Chris Woakes the England fielders but no luck. It's a wide delivery from Woakes and Marsh cuts just out of the reach of gully and yes, you guessed it, the ball goes for four. Woakes gets a little more bounce later in the over with a similar delivery and this time Marsh plays and misses.

We have 40 minutes to go until the next interval at 7:50 GMT. Is this the time Australia start to up the run rate with a declaration in mind? A poor leg side delivery from Joe Root is hooked behind square for four and that helps the Aussies take seven from the over.

England bowled well today. They got the batsmen to play and miss and didn't get anything for it. Broad and Anderson bowled fuller than they did yesterday. The ball did a bit and they were missing in by two inches. England just don't have enough pace and craft.

  5. Aus 361-7published at 135 overs

    Marsh 83, Cummins 17

Whack. The England fans are chanting in the crowd but this session is going all the way of Australia. Short from Chris Woakes and Pat Cummins slaps the ball for four and the Aussie cheers drown out the English songs.

That's the 50 partnership for these two. The fourth 50 partnership of the innings. This one must really hurt.

Reality is Australia could easily have been bowled out 100 runs ago with England's bowling. Not every decision is correctly reviewed - even if some of those appeals weren't out you don't know if Australia would challenge

What can the skipper conjure up? Unimpressed with Moeen Ali's efforts, Joe Root has brought himself back into the attack. In his one previous over he bowled a a couple of nice deliveries and found some big spin but none of the same here.

It's time we start pointing out that Shaun Marsh is closing on a Test century.

Sometimes, when you have a bloke like Shaun Marsh who can just drop anchor in the middle-order, it's handy. Everyone thinks counter-attack but it's not always necessary.

As Steph mentions, Billy the trumpeter isn't in Adelaide for this Test and I believe the Barmy Army have replaced him with a saxophone player. Good depth in the musical talent.

Chris Woakes returns to the attack and bowls a tight over but he just doesn't look the same bowler as in England or, perhaps worryingly, not the same since that side injury in the summer.

Not to be outdone by the Barmy Army, the Richies have their own trumpeter (Billy the Barmy Army trumpeter actually isn't here). When the Richies sing about "going bananas", boundary fielder Stuart Broad looks over his shoulder and shakes his head.

We thought this batting line-up was fragile, but England have never been able to put together two or three quick wickets to really put a shudder in the Australia dressing room. Well played, Australia.

  13. Aus 354-7published at 132 overs

England are trying something a little different. Moeen Ali is going to have a bowl round the wicket to Pat Cummins with close catchers on the leg side. There were plenty of 'funky fields' from Joe Root in the first Test but in this innings, that spell to Steve Smith yesterday aside, there hasn't been that much out of the ordinary. The change doesn't make a difference. Australia add four more to the total with ease.

It's starting to become a bit demoralising for the England team. They've beaten the edge on numerous occasions, which doesn't bode well for when they bat.

Then hello! Here's what's happened so far...

    • England took a wicket with the third ball of the day, when Stuart Broad trapped Peter Handscomb lbw for 36
    • Tim Paine and Shaun Marsh rebuilt and Paine, despite taking two blows to the finger, reached a half-century
    • Craig Overton had Paine caught in the deep for 57, but Marsh guided Australia to 300 and beyond with ease

  17. How's stat?!published at 06:53 Greenwich Mean Time 3 December 2017

The highest score in a day-night Test at Adelaide is 383. There hadn't been any other totals above 260 prior to this innings.

  18. Aus 350-7published at 131 overs

Runs are flowing now and England are starting to look ragged. First Marsh pulls a short delivery from Overton to the fence and then a thick outside runs down through the slips for three. That brings Cummins on strike and he gets in on the act. A push in the air from the right-hander goes over Overton's head for three more. That's the 350 up for Australia. The hosts are well over a par score now.

Moeen's bowling too slowly. It happens when you're not in rhythm and not really knowing where you are in your bowling. Joe Root bowled alright before the break...

  20. Aus 340-7published at 130 overs

    Marsh 71, Cummins 8

"Very good, Mo," says Jonny Bairstow under the helmet as England's spinner starts another over with some easy, flat off-spin. It's tidy but not particularly effective.

And that shows how easy it is for the batsmen. Pat Cummins - a tailender remember - swats Moeen down the ground for four to finish the over.
