  1. Aus 381-4published at 132.3 overs

Mason Crane has got the senior Marsh brother, rather than the more nervy-looking Mitchell, to bowl at.

Ooft, and Shaun Marsh clubs his first ball for four! That's too full from Crane and Marsh goes for it, moving out of the crease and crashing the ball back past the bowler. A single brings Mitch on strike.

Usman Khawaja's 171 - three short of his highest Test score - spanned 526 minutes, took 381 balls and contained 18 fours and a six.

  3. Aus 376-4published at 132 overs

184 balls for Mason Crane to take his first Test wicket. And what a wicket to get, too. He had quite a brusque exchange with Joe Root before he started the over about how he wanted his field set.

James Anderson whizzes through a tidy over to Shaun Marsh. Both Marsh brothers are wearing black armbands to pay respect to a family friend who died recently.

It's a perfect situation for Mitchell Marsh - he's a good striker of the ball.

Here's Mitch Marsh - ooh, and he goes after his first ball with hard hand. It's speared wide and he misses, before the final delivery just turns past his outside edge.

Mason Crane retrieves his cap from the umpire and wanders away to applause from the Barmy Army.

You can't begrudge Crane that wicket. Maybe he saw him coming down and pushed it wide, and it came between bat and pad - which makes it a good stumping. At long last - and much deserved.

So Usman Khawaja's terrific vigil is at an end - he's been dismissed for 171.

What a cracking moment for Mason Crane.

Khawaja st Bairstow b Crane 171 (Aus 375-4)

Mason Crane has his first Test wicket - and it's centurion Usman Khawaja!

That's clever from Crane - he knew Khawaja was going to go after him so he just speared the ball a bit wider. Down the track came Khawaja, missed the ball with his push forward and Jonny Bairstow didn't miss a beat. Crane punches the air in celebration as his team-mates come flocking in to celebrate.

England, understandably, are starting to creak.

  10. Aus 374-3published at 130 overs

James Anderson, looking more than a little tired, sends down a maiden to Usman Khawaja. He draws a leading edge out of Khawaja, but the ball is keeping really low, and it rolls all along the ground towards the fielder.

That boundary from Shaun Marsh brought up their hundred partnership, which seems to have ticked along in no time at all.

  14. Aus 374-3published at 129 overs

A hearty boo from the SCG crowd as Mason Crane trots to the wicket and doesn't let go of the ball. He said last night that it was something he'd developed to stop himself bowling a bad ball - if he doesn't feel right, he doesn't let go of the ball.

That's, er, four though. Too full from Crane and Usman Khawaja shimmies down the pitch and clonks him down the ground. Joe Root jogs in for a chat, plenty of shoulder shrugging going on, before Shaun Marsh then gets in on the act with another lovely drive.

It feels like every year, we all say "what will England do when Anderson retires?" and yet we never come up with any answers.

Short of cloning him, that is. Here's Mason Crane.

Quick question... when Jimmy retires will England ever take 20 wickets in a Test again? Aside from his figures which are OK, the other 8 bowlers used have taken just 35 wickets in 5 Tests at a whopping average of 62.5... 62.5!!! That is pathetic.

There might be a smidgen of reverse swing there for James Anderson, who warms himself up by spearing a few deliveries into Shaun Marsh's pads. Marsh stays solid, rising up on his toes and pushing the ball back down the field.

A maiden to begin the day with.
