  2. 6 runs

    Aus 175-3published at 30.4 overs

Another maximum but this time from Finch.

Slightly over-pitched from Rashid and Finch clatters it straight back down the ground. Finch moves into the 90s...

  3. 6 runs

    Aus 168-3published at 30.1 overs

Mitch Marsh finally cuts loose, Adil Rashid dragging one down and the Aussie all-rounder duly punishes it, carting a pull shot into the stands.

  4. Aus 162-3published at 30 overs

Spin from both ends as Moeen continues - Marsh charges but has to check his shot and work it into leg for one.

Finch and Marsh content to just dab into off and leg for ones and twos for now.

  5. Aus 155-3published at 29 overs

England put in a slip for Rashid but that creates gaps in the field - the leg-spinner strays too straight and Finch finds one of those gaps, sweeping to the fence.

Solid response from Rashid, conceding four more in singles from the over.

Woakes is duly removed from the attack and here comes Rashid...

Moeen has been very tight and has been backed up from his fielders. It all just adds up.

  9. Aus 147-3published at 28 overs

Moeen continues to do a decent restricting job, Finch and Marsh happy to settle for singles.

Finch does free his arms but can't get hold of the pull shot as it bounces once through to deep mid-wicket.

Woakes really has been errant in his line and length. He has not seemed himself.

  11. Aus 143-3published at 27 overs

Chris Woakes' showing so far is a real worry for England with only five bowlers - he strays down leg again and Aaron Finch flicks it way fine for four. That's a freebie.

He also concedes five easy singles from the rest of the over. Finch also passes 3,000 ODI runs in the process.

So I reckon most armchair pundits would have taken Rashid, Plunkett and Wood (when fit) on the Ashes tour. Leg-spin, pace and pace on Australian pitches. What do Strauss and co. know that we don't, I wonder?

Horses for courses, Broad is not the bowler for Australian conditions, Overton and Curran are great prospects but surely not at Sydney or the MCG. And just what does Rashid do wrong? He may go at four an over but he takes wickets. It's like Michael Holding said - wickets win matches, not the runs per over rate.

  13. Aus 134-3published at 26 overs

Cheers Matt. England's bowlers have been impressive so far, Chris Woakes aside. Another wicket soon and they will be on top, though this pair are building a useful partnership.

Moeen Ali continues, tucking up both batsmen nicely and conceding only two singles from the over.

  14. Aus 132-3published at 25 overs

Chris Woakes has been hit for seven boundaries in five overs now. Not good enough.

Anyway, I'm done for a while. Here's Jack Skelton to expertly take you through the next period.

    Speak later.

An important partnership is developing between Finch and Marsh here.

  16. Aus 131-3published at 24.4 overs

Chris Woakes is back after a poor spell with the new ball. With no Ben Stokes, England only have five bowlers in this line-up. Eoin Morgan needs Woakes to improve.

Errrrrr... That's not the way, Chris. Short and wide and Finch pulls in ferocious fashion through the leg side.

Can you explain why Rashid can only bowl in the 50-over game and not Test matches?

  18. Aus 125-3published at 24 overs

It takes a small posse of men to find the ball after that big hit from Mitch Marsh. Once it's retrieved the Aussie all-rounder is happy with his work in this over and just blocks the final two balls back to Moeen.

We're almost at that halfway point. What will Australia be aiming for from here? 330? Let us know what you reckon.

  19. 6 runs

    Aus 125-3published at 23.4 overs

The pressure builds a bit more as Moeen starts with three dots but all that pressure is released with a big swish of Mitchell Marsh's bat.

A bit of flight from Moeen and Marsh clubs him way back over his head for a 97m six.

  20. Aus 118-3published at 23 overs

A bit of 'yes, no, yes, no' action from the Aussie batsman that will make many a club cricketer reminisce of last summer as you wake up on this cold January morning. Marsh just about makes his ground as the throw comes in.

Another good over from Plunkett. I feel like I am repeating myself a little but that was tight in line and length again. Just three singles from the over. England are squeezing.
