The combination of Moeen Ali and Adil Rashid - their partnership with the ball is outstanding. It's a game-changing partnership. They bowl really well in tandem - they keep it tight and take wickets.

A polished performance by England - they were fantastic in the outfield. They got off to a solid start with the bat, with really good fifties by Alex Hales and Jonny Bairstow, and then Joe Root saw England home.

Looking at how well Woakes has played, the Aussies didn’t need another 20-30 runs - they needed another 50 or 60. This England team are exceptionally good.

  15. England 'still looking for complete batting performance'published at 11:02 Greenwich Mean Time 19 January 2018

England captain Eoin Morgan on ABC: "I'd like to think we'll get better as we go on but today was an outstanding bowling performance.

"Certainly it was far from our best performance with the bat. We are still looking for the complete batting performance - hopefully we'll get it on Sunday. The confidence is in the dressing room at the moment."

  16. 'It spun more than we thought'published at 10:59 Greenwich Mean Time 19 January 2018

Man of the match Joe Root, who took 2-31 and made 46 not out, on TMS: "It's always nice to contribute with the ball. It probably spun more than we thought it might. I managed to sneak some overs in - and it went quite nicely.

"It's important to have the skill to do both - to set well and chase big scores down. When it comes to us setting in these conditions, we have to make sure we do that well too."

  18. 'I knew England were capable of this'published at 10:57 Greenwich Mean Time 19 January 2018

Australia captain Steve Smith: "We're just not playing good enough one-day cricket. We were in a pretty good position but we only scored about 60 off the final 11 overs and that's not good enough against a quality England side. I knew England were capable of this.

"I hope we can get back on the ball in Sydney. We're just not playing smart enough cricket."

  19. 'England are fantastic to watch'published at 10:55 Greenwich Mean Time 19 January 2018

    James Taylor
Ex-England batsman on Test Match Special

They're settled because they all know their roles. The core of the team is more or less the same and it makes a difference when players have that clarity.

They're a fantastic side to watch - they're powerful, they're destructive, they're dominant and they've got match-winners throughput their side. - but they're also smart.

The batting let Australia down. You can look at the faults of their line-up, but England seem the more settled team.
