For Cameron White at the age of 34 it's last chance saloon. He's got a World Cup to aim for in 18 months if he can do something in the next couple of series.

England will be hoping the wicket deteriorates and takes more spin. When you're chasing a total like this Australia will learn a lot from the England innings, that if you can stop losing wickets regularly you can catch up quite a lot at the end.

  5. Aus 32-1published at 6 overs

    Finch 12, White 7

White clips through mid-wicket and it's running away to the boundary until Hales pulls it back. No, his foot made contact with the rope before he could throw the ball away - that's four.

Woakes then gets one to lift sharply off White, striking the bat just below the handle. Will there be some variable bounce under the lights here?

It's a good move to put Cameron White at three. He's a proper batsman and he was wasted at seven. He has time to build an innings - he's the sort of guy that can get a match-winning hundred.

  7. Aus 27-1published at 5 overs

    Target 303

Eoin Morgan puts himself under the lid at short leg for Cameron White. Do England reckon he has a weakness against the short ball?

Wood's fourth ball is shortish and White pulls it down but picks out the fielder for no run.

A bouncer next up that White just about weaves away from - it's called a wide anyway. A tight one but a fair call.

Wood then goes round the wicket, with a leg slip in place, and White flicks off his midriff for a single.

  8. Aus 25-1published at 4 overs

Cameron White is the new man in. A perhaps curious selection - he looked out of sorts batting down at number seven in the last match. Will three suit him better?

He gets off the mark with a single via a thickish inside edge down towards fine leg.

We saw Jason Roy and Alex Hales caught early on when they didn't have the pace of the pitch.

  10. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 3.5 overs

    Warner c Hales b Woakes 8 (Aus 24-1)

Chris Woakes rolls his fingers over the ball and David Warner tries to carve it away but slices it instead straight to Alex Hales at extra cover.

A decent off-cutter from Woakes, drawing the false shot from Warner and that's a big early wicket for England.

For the record, cricket analysts CricViz were giving the following percentages on the result - before Australia began their reply:

    • England win - 58%
    • Australia win - 41%
    • Tie - 1%
  12. Aus 19-0published at 3 overs

Wood strays down leg and Finch flicks it fine for four. Australia were guilty of bowling too many down there, England will not want to follow suit.

Finch then has to dig out a decent yorker, with Wood bowling in sunshine and Finch facing in shadow.

The Aussie opener then slices away for three, with a good chase in the deep by Eoin Morgan to prevent the boundary.

What a great way to wake up on a dreary Sunday morning in England. Well done Jos & Woakesy, now skittle them out for under 100 #Aussiebashing.

England are probably the happier of the two sides - the momentum is with them after that last 10 overs.

  15. Aus 12-0published at 2 overs

Finch punches through the covers for three.

Woakes sends it down back of a length and the ball just sits up for Warner to pull strongly behind square to the fence.

Better from Woakes in response, forcing Warner to just defend the next three.

    Cheers Jamie.

Australia do indeed need plenty of Warner, but could well do with another big innings from Finch too. He's made two centuries in as many games this series but not been supported by the rest of his team.

Australia are going to need plenty of Warner tonight to chase this down.

  18. Aus 5-0published at 1 over

    Target 303

David Warner averages 99 against England at the SCG and he is going to need a few here. Mark Wood beats him outside the off stump and the Durham paceman is already nudging 140kph, but Warner opens his account with a sweetly struck cover drive to the boundary.

Over to Jack Skelton to see how the reply progresses.

A total of 13 wides conceded by Australia and the main man Mitchell Starc went for 0-63 from his 10 overs. Hazlewood's 2-58 was the most successful return for the Aussies and due to the slow pace of overs we are all set for their innings to start.
