  1. Aus 117-3published at 21 overs

    Target 303

Mitchell Marsh is the new man in for Australia and gets off the mark with a prod into the off side. Just four singles off the over in total. Excellent bowling by Rashid.

Slightly quicker one from Rashid, a bit flatter. Finch has premeditated the sweep and that's a massive, massive wicket for England. If he had stayed there until the end it could have been very dangerous.

  3. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 20.1 overs

Finch lbw Rashid 62 (Aus 113-3)

It is out! Ball tracking shows that was clipping leg stump and it stays with the umpire's call.

Huge moment for England as Aaron Finch was looking very dangerous, having carted two sixes off the previous over.

Good ball from Rashid, going on with the arm and evading Finch's sweep shot.

This looks a good shout. No bat on it...

Rashid gets it through on to Finch's pad as he sweeps - big appeal and given out!

  6. Aus 113-2published at 20 overs

Expensive over from Root, leaking 16 off it.

  7. 6 runs

    Aus 110-2published at 19.3 overs

Bang! Bang! Make that back-to-back sixes for Finch, again clattering Root over mid-wicket.

A policeman on the boundary shells the initial catch but then snaffles the rebound off his knee.

  8. 50 runs

50 for Finchpublished at 19.2 overs

Bang! Finch flays Root over mid-wicket and into the stands to bring up his fifty.

Can he convert it into a third century in as many matches?

  9. Aus 97-2published at 19 overs

Rashid not offering any width to work with as Finch and Smith have to settle for singles.

Finch misses trying to sweep the last ball and it raps the pads. Brief appeal from England but given not out.

As long as Finch is there going as he has been, this game is very much on.

  12. Aus 94-2published at 18 overs

    Finch 47, Smith 16

Finch starts to look fidgety, trying to hit Root away and finally does off the last ball of the over, backing away to leg and slicing through the covers brilliantly for four.

Seems to me a few of the ODI squad need to be in the Test squad. Discuss.

  14. Aus 87-2published at 17 overs

Solid start from Rashid, bowling an accurate enough line that Australia can only pick up four singles from the over.

Adil Rashid will enter the fray after drinks. Can he nip either of this pair out?

With Jos Buttler it's like Steve Smith in Tests - you're watching one of the best. England have missed a trick not having him as part of the Test squad.

I am currently listening from a very hot camp site just outside Sydney. I was at the Perth and Melbourne Tests and am loving this one day series. Back to Blighty on Tuesday and, to be honest, a few days of rain, snow and freezing temperatures is quite appealing. Come on England.

    Aus 83-2published at 16 overs

    Target 303

Finch clips Root off his pads - no two there though as substitute fielder Sam Billings is rapid and gets round to keep it to one.

Smith flicks for one, before Finch chips over mid-wicket...and that's a horror show from Woakes, mistiming his slide as the ball gets under him and into the rope.

    That'll be drinks.

Interesting to ask Joe Root if right now he’d rather the wicket of Finch or Smith?

  20. Aus 76-2published at 15 overs

Smith flicks Moeen fine for another scampered three.

Finch then tries to launch him into the stands - it's going high, but evades the fielders running back towards the mid-off boundary. There was two on offer but Finch only gets one, having waited for ages in his crease to see where it would fall.

Turn for Moeen, catching the inside edge of Smith's bat but the shot was controlled enough for the ball to run harmlessly away.
