  1. wicket

Cummins run out (Curran) 2 (Aus 184-7)

What a shambles. Pat Cummins knocks down the ground, the pair sprint one and before Cummins turns around for a second. He makes it half way down the pitch before realising Tim Paine has not moved an inch at the other end.

Cummins shimmies, still in the direction of Paine, before realising he's going to have to turn back but Tom Curran's throw is good and Mark Wood can comfortable take off the bails.

  2. Aus 184-6published at 36 overs

The DJ is still trying to keep those 23,000 people entertained despite the result being decided in this one.

Chris Woakes bowls one full and wide to Cummins and the batsman almost nicks behind as he stretches to make contact.

A single to finish for big Patty C. 13 to win.

There's only 23,000 supporters in today - it's still a decent-sized crowd but it's noticeable that it's only half full in a 53,000 seater stadium. You see Big Bash matches here and it's heaving.

  4. Aus 182-6published at 35 overs

Need 15 runs from 90 balls

Mark Wood gets a second look at Pat Cummins after Tim Paine takes another single but Cummins sways out of the way of a bouncer.

It'd be quite fitting if the bowler who took four wickets earlier for Australia could hit the winning runs.

  5. Aus 181-6published at 34.3 overs

Out comes Pat Cummins. Australia need 17 runs with 94 balls left and four wickets remaining.

Cummins gets off the mark on his second ball.

    Make that 16 to win.

It would have been a well-deserved century for Travis Head. He's been destructive when he's needed to be and patient, milking the bowling, at others.

  7. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 34.1 overs

    Head c Morgan b Wood 96 (Aus 180-6)

    Oh, Travis.

With a second one-day century and victory in touching distance, Travis Head has slapped a Mark Wood bouncer straight to Eoin Morgan, the one fielder in front of square on the leg side.

He can't believe it and neither can the crowd. Head smacks his pad with his bat as he walks off.

The good thing from England's point of view is that they've fought hard ever since they fell to 8-5.

Hmmmm. That doesn't sound too fun, Andy.

  10. drinks break

    Aus 180-5published at 34 overs

17 runs needed from 96 balls

Australia's runs required is down into the teens now. It's a win that has looked inevitable ever since that new ball burst which left England 8-5.

England's attacking fielders have all dispersed. Australia are able to collect singles at will. Three of them come in the over before the umpire calls for drinks.

Not sure they're entirely needed. The end is nigh.

  11. Aus 177-5published at 33 overs

    Need 20 from 102 balls

The Adelaide Oval looks a picture now as the sky lights up orange with the sun setting. Mark Wood now bowls from round the wicket at Paine and ambitiously tries to kick the ball onto the stumps, like Chris Woakes did earlier in the series.

He's a AFC Wimbledon fan by the way is Wood. Don't get many of those in Ashington. That's my useless fact of the day.

You do think that if England had won the toss and bowled first, the story of the match would be a very different one.

  13. Aus 174-5published at 32.3 overs

    Target 197

The wicketless Mark Wood comes back into the attack from the Riverbank Stand end.

Travis Head stands with bat in air, mouth wide open as the England quick sprints in.

That's a good diving stop. Well done Eoin Morgan. He prevents a boundary by throwing himself low at mid on.

It was a massive toss to win today. It made a big difference - the surface was completely different in the first 10 overs. It was humid, there had been rain and it was conducive to swing bowling. Josh Hazlewood and Pat Cummins exploited it perfectly and it's won the match for them.

  16. Aus 171-5published at 32 overs

    Need 26 from 108 balls

Travis Head charges into the nineties. The Aussies are watchful to Woakes at the start of the over but then on the final ball Head is given too much width and he slashes hard for four.

He's nine short of a ton.

Chris Woakes is back. The star of England's batting, it's going to take something even more special from him now.

  18. Aus 165-5published at 31 overs

    Head 86, Paine 9

Moeen gets away with the free hit as Head can only manage a single. A second one-day century for Australia is there for the taking for the opener.

You're going to have an extra hour or so this morning as it seems this one is going to finish early. Got any plans for it?

    32 from 114 needed.

  19. Aus 165-5published at 30.1 overs

I bigged Moeen Ali up an over ago but that's a shocker. A rank full toss and it's smashed for four. And it's a no ball. And that means a free hit will follow.

Adil Rashid is so hard to pick. England's wicketkeepers, who play with him all the time, struggle to pick him so it's no surprise the Australian batsman struggle too.
