  1. Aus 157-5published at 30 overs

40 runs needed from 120 balls

Joe Root's cries from slip suggest England have missed a chance here. Rashid spins one near to the edge of Tim Paine's bat but the ball hits Buttler's gloves and drops to the floor.

The good news for Buttler is snicko doesn't pick up an edge. No drop there.

A really good finish from Rashid. Just two from the over. He finishes with 3-49.

  2. Aus 155-5published at 29 over

Mark Wood's spell is over and Moeen Ali is reintroduced. This one-day series has allowed the offie to get a bit of rhythm back into his bowling. He's been economical once again.

Paine collects two with a fine dab down to third man and for a while there's some interest in a run out but he's safely home when Buttler takes off the bails. A direct hit from Tom Curran might have been close.

Only singles and twos on the first five balls but then Travis Head charges down the pitch. He makes excellent contact and the ball twice skips off the turf and into the rope.

Just 42 needed from 126 balls.

I wonder who Eoin Morgan plans to bowl after Adil Rashid has finished his spell? He's got one over left.

  4. Aus 146-5published at 28 overs

    Target 197

There's a murmur of expectation around the ground as Adil Rashid skips in again. Flatter this time from the spinner to Travis Head, wary of giving the left-hander chance to get under the ball.

A couple of singles end the over and Rashid is not happy about the second. He feels Mark Wood should have prevented that run in the infield.

  5. Aus 143-5published at 27 overs

Need 54 to win from 23 overs

Head takes a single to bring Tim Paine onto strike.

Mark Wood now has a chance to bowl at the new batsman. The first ball is blocked and the second is another single.

    Now Head back on strike...

"Caaaaaaatchhhh." So close for England. Head cuts hard behind square and the flying Jason Roy can't get a hand on the ball. Four runs are the result. Wood's hands are back on his head.

  6. Aus 137-5published at 26 overs

There are a few stern faces in the Aussie dressing room. I wouldn't say worried quite yet but they know they're not over the line yet. Adil Rashid now has three wickets.

Tim Paine is the new man and blocks his first two balls.

The men to come? Pat Cummins, Andrew Tye, Josh Hazlewood and Adam Zampa. Not too much there after Cummins.

Stoinis fell for the trap there. He was trying to be aggressive but Eoin Morgan created the pressure and got inside the batsman's head.

  8. wicket

    Stoinis c Roy b Rashid 14 (Aus 136-5)

Errr... maybe he's not that comfortable?!

After hitting Adil Rashid for back-to-back fours, Marcus Stoinis goes again but skews the ball high into the off side.

Jason Roy almost doesn't get there but eventually takes the ball on the dive down near the turf. Morgan looks delighted. Have England got a hope? They're halfway through the Aussie line-up.

When Stoinis and Mitchell Marsh hit the ball, it sounds so crisp. They are massive blokes.

  10. Aus 136-4published at 25.2 overs

Consecutive boundaries for Stoinis now who looks more comfortable against Rashid than Wood.

Both are sweeps. The second crisper than the first.

  11. Aus 128-4published at 25 overs

Need 69 to win from 25 overs

More short stuff from Mark Wood to Travis Head. That's a remarkable shot. Head gets his hands above the ball and then hacks down with his eyes looking down to the ground. Like a man with an axe, chopping down on some wood - no pun intended.

Frustration for Wood. He beats Stoinis outside off stump on back-to-back deliveries. The Durham man wipes his brow with plenty of exasperation as he collects his cap.

  12. Aus 124-4published at 24 overs

    Target 197

Rashid continues. Morgan is holding his nerve after that big shot from Stoinis on his first ball. The slip and leg slip are still in place.

Two dots but then Stoinis gets off strike with a single.

Now a full toss from Rashid, way down the leg side. Rubbish. Head sweeps and a Mark Wood fumble allows the Aussies to add two more.

  13. Aus 120-4published at 23 overs

    Head 61, Stoinis 4

Mark Wood is also back into the attack with Morgan going for the jugular.

He starts with four dot balls but then Travis Head picks a short ball early and swats a pull for four more.

Joe Root has his hands on his head at slip. Australia are cruising.

  14. Aus 116-4published at 22 overs

    Need 81 from 168 balls

England sense this is their chance. Eoin Morgan goes on the attack with plenty of fielders for company close in...

New man Marcus Stoinis' response? To charge down and whack Rashid over the leg side for four.

    He grins at Rashid.

Most days, Mitchell Marsh would have hit that for six. Adil Rashid looks a little guilty at bowling such a filthy delivery.

    Marsh c&b Rashid 32 (Aus 112-4)

A shocker of a delivery but what a catch!

Adil Rashid continues and throws up a filthy full toss. Mitchell Marsh's eyes light up and he smashes the ball out of the middle but it goes straight into the midriff of Rashid and the bowler clings on. Rashid just shrugs with a guilty look on his face. Umpire Kumar Dharmasena puffs his cheeks out behind Rashid. That was rocketing in his direction.

  18. Aus 108-3published at 21 overs

Root - dark sunglasses on - is arrowing the ball in, not looking for too much turn. It's a tidy over with just three runs coming from it but wickets are the order of the day for England. They're not going to win this by restricting scoring.

Here comes golden-arm Joe Root. Eoin Morgan needs a wicket and England's Test captain is where he turns.

There's a 21-gun salute happening nearby for Australia Day. It's a little alarming. It's making the ground shake.
